Yes, it was in my paint booth for a long time and I was going to push it out the door then it hit me, was just what I was looking to build and the shelves were adjustable. Took about 20 minutes to fix it up, the dimensions were perfect.

So my motor on my POS pressure washer went out. Normally I’d scrap the whole thing except I had just purchased a brand new pump. So I got on the hunt and found a replacement motor where someone’s pump went out. I got an extra cart with it. I had seen people repurpose the carts for various things and knew kind of what I was wanting to do. I purchased the hose reel and added it to the cart. The tip holder holds air chuck accessories nice, snug and in easy reach as well. Overall I’m very happy with my crafty little piece of repurposed junk. 7d0daeeeab92157558157c33376f03e5.jpg

I had some intent to buy a couple service carts and before I got to it the need was there and people give me stuff, I find it, I make some or convert it. Spray a little paint on the face where it shows etc. I often stiffen, add a brace, weld it in and aint scared of some self drillers either, nuts and bolts on occasion too.
The stuff evolves and often the proto works well enough it becomes the norm, it works and no speed or ease to gain by tossing another grand at it.
The pictures are old and stuff has been tailored and added. I made a small change to it the other day and instead of having drive and extensions separated it by ratchets and extensions.

Here is a picture from a few minutes ago. There is a can rack on back of board you can't see. I need a couple pockets for razor knives/putty knife etc. Kind of a wonky pic, but metric wrenches on the board. All this is between 2 main bays and a 3rd with projects in a triangle fashion, I actually have 2 at once now. This cart sits in the mechanic bay/hoist. Got a rollin bench someone gave me 2 of.

This is another bbq cart. Cut the other side tray off and made handles, found some gutter and screen tacked on and made a couple improvements, very minor but tailored to fit in a storage area also. We need it but we need it 2x a year and dont need it in the way. Fittings, hoses gages all on the thing in one spot. No cash out, done in an hour, custom made to fit.
There was a time I would have wanted to head to the steel store for every piece but now am so much more inclined to start with free or cheap and go from there. It is gratifying in its own right and super profitable when the return starts so fast, get rid oif junk at the same time, so much finish work is done from salvage.
I blacked a couple rusty parts, cant even tell, its parked behind another bench, I didn't sandblast it within an inch of its life, I colored bad spots and you got to look to think it didn't come factory for it but its old cart.
Whol;e point of this is that I couldn't make it any faster or more profitable by spending more on it and in some sense may slow it down due to the fact we didn't install something till we needed it and not so invested that we wont remove it when we dont or have lots in assets to store rarely used items out of the way.

Yes, the 4x4 were simply off the floor and set there, the dolly is a light pole.

Nice job on the drill holder station! I have been keeping my out for something similar, to use for organizing all my different grits of sandpaper.

I have been repurposing some pallets. I was also able to turn some of the repurposed pallets into a storage rack for the re-purposed wood until I can get around to making more flags.

Those flags look great that is truly repurposing pallets there is some really nice lumber in some of them I don't like the pallets with the flag or anything else painted on them an ugly old pallet just looks like an ugly old painted pallet to me

You guys are impressive. I'm an amateur in comparison.

I used the bottom end of a worn out office chair as the rolling base for a small roll around table to use when working on the cars. Some plumbing pipe a flange fitting and some scrap lumber. I couldn't resist staining and varnishing the wood. the round metal piece is inset and provides a place to put a magnetic parts holder.

Don't sell yourself short. You took an idea and saw it through to something you needed. I like your idea and never thought of doing something like that. You are on your way too great things if you can think like that.

I know they type you are talking about. Just painting a flag on a pallet makes it just that, a pallet with a flag painted on it. I got lucky with the pallets I was able to get. There was some alder, some oak, some ash, and a lot of pine.

When I do these I do run all of the wood through a planer, but, keep all of the nail/staple holes. sometimes I go over the boards with a torch, sometimes I don't. Some of the flags get a varnish, some stay unvarnished.

Hey everybody, I just joined the other day so this is my first thread. I'm a kind of diy guy, every time I go in a hardware store and buy something its usually not intended for what I'm going to use it for. I'm also a homesteader, I bought 60 acres of off grid property in the Missouri Ozarks trying to get a house, shop ect. and running off of spring water. Well we now have a 30 x 48 ft. pole barn next will be a house, something out of natural materials. Anyway I love to repurpose I made a canoe out of plastic barrel about 18 years ago now I am rebuilding it taking out the wooden ribs and putting back ribs made from flattened PVC pipe.
I don't know If I'll be able to post video's on here, it says I have to be 5 or greater, right now I'm just a big 0, story of my life. Anyway, feel free to check out some of my repurpose jobs at Little Beaver Creek Homestead on youtube if you like. Thanks, have a good day.

Thanks. I've reached the age where I should be throwing stuff out, but can't stand to not reuse things that can be repurposed.

Wegan: personally I think you deserve to start a thread of your own maybe call it OFF GRID in the OZARKS cabin made from.... or something like that and put it in GARAGE GALLERY section.

also when you get time here's a few tips to help you navigate around GJ:
1) to in your User cp (tab just below GJ at top of page) and click on avatar and download a picture of something you like sort of like I did with my welded bison made of scraps. you can change later if you change your mind
2) there is a section in there around viewing threads and I think it's easier to view the last posts first and also 100 views per page so if you want to read a long thread you don't have to keep changing pages. EDIT OPTIONS has a lot of things you can check for this.
3) if you have questions about something in a thread just ask cause that's how we all learn.
4) if you need more help there is a tip or help thread below all the sections someplace or feel free to PM (private message a mod or a member).

good luck with your project!!

Been wanting a powered small equipment lift for a while now. Being to cheap to go out and buy something for that purpose as well as not wanting to sacrifice the real estate on the floor, I've put it off for a couple years now hoping something would come across Marketplace that I could modify to meet my needs. Well it finally did...in the form of a wheelchair lift with a 350lb capacity for a $100...
A few modifications later and BAM, there it is. Screenshot_20200121-143206_Firefox.jpeg20200109_122525.jpg20200109_133150.jpeg20200109_195054.jpg20200113_094316.jpegScreenshot_20200113-094141_Gallery.jpg

I think this fits here. We recently moved and the new place came with a BBQ a little better BBQ then the one we had. So ours became a griddle. Easy build and works great. Love that the bacon grease flows down the drain under to the disposable foil container.

Cheers

I took an oscilloscope cart and made it a scroll saw work station. Well I’m in the process of doing it. It’s missing the drawer so I need to come up with one as well as some storage for blades. Not bad for free.

When I bought my first welder and decided to make the cart, I made a pledge to myself to justify the cost of the welder, I would use scrap for any projects that I could. I have stuck to that for my carts.

You can see junk in the two on the right, the MIG and the plasma. Look closely and you'll see the tub of the MIG is the belly of one of those old wooden lift top school desks. I was using it for a parts washing tub before this re-purpose.

The plasma cart on the right, the bottom shelf is the top off an old clothes dryer.

They're homely, but they all three work real well for me.
