I have a lot more coax than I remembered, nice and not nice all at once. At least the rain has stopped, will be loading the trailer and then locking it in the shop, no sense in chancing having someone like the copper more than I do.

I am looking at fume extractors now, found a great deal, honestly better than the one that sold at the last auction, but the guy wants me to come down today. I told him Thursday was the earliest I would be able to make it. We will see if he really wants to sell them or not. Yes them, there are two, one for my Dad.

How big are those brass couplings you've removed from the copper? I know a guy who makes chopper tail lights in brass. He might be able to use them if the centers aren't completely hollow.

There are little brass pieces that are about 1" in diameter, then the rest are close to 4" in diameter. I really thought it would be cool to use the large diameter copper (7") for an exhaust stack on a diesel truck. Seems like something one of those discovery channel shows would use for that purpose, except on a prius. The fume extractor is for welding, made by lincoln.

I knew I did not sleep well last night, but man, I am crashing, hard. I am going to work for a bit more, then head home, still need to do some office work tonight.

Besides all this talk of stripper poles, boobies, and delivery women, I am more excited over the copper. I just loaded up one gaylord of coax, deducting for the crate, I am at 550 pounds and this is only about half of it. I thought I only had about 500 pounds total. Usually I think I have 500 pounds and I end up with 200 pounds, so this is a nice surprise, 90 cents a pound as well. The only unknown at this point is the multi conductor wire and the weird old aluminum coax, I know he wire will be worth something, my guess is the aluminum will be something dumb like 5 or 10 cents a pound due to the mix of materials, better than paying to get rid of it.

Shoot me better pics of the brass pieces. Then drop em in a DM...

Another thing the motorcycle guys do is make brass trim ends for exhausts. The 1" ones might work for those.

Also, what nitro R/Cs are looking to sell?

I think all I have for complete nitro RC stuff is Tamiya Terra Crusher, probably have 3 complete setups. I know that the motors need cleaning, they are gummed up pretty good, may be that they are junk now, I haven't had time to mess with them. I had some Nitro snowmobiles, but I am going to convert one to use an XMAXX brushless motor and controller, they used to have a .21 engine, so I think it will hold up. If that works, then I may make a few of them, I think I have 3 of those as well. Selling stuff is never my strong suit, plus I tend to take way too long...............

I will post some pictures and better dimensions of what I have, got another gaylord of coax cut up, almost exactly 500 more pounds. Still have more to cut up, but it is the cheaper 50 cent per pound stuff, but it is still worth it. This afternoon I will have prepped about $1200 worth of scrap. I think I may be closing in on $5,500 worth, would love to hit $6,000, sad part is I know I could, I just need to give up the "cool stuff" that I have been saving. I haven't weighed all the brass yet, but I would say it is at least 100 pounds, they are paying $1.55 a pound. The big wire is probably my next issue, there is a lot of 4 gauge wire and I would like to save a bunch, I know I will eventually use it for wiring up my big toys, it is all about 50' long, so anything longer than that will need a junction box. It sells for around 75 cents a foot new, I probably have 1000 feet or more total, it would scrap out at about $1.45 a pound, looks like a couple hundred pounds, but I have not weighed it yet. I am going to try and keep the long lengths and scrap the sort pieces.

Yes... and hell yes. Kinda surprised you have to ask so many questions to the process. I guess I live a different life.

I told you I hadn't been to a ********** in two decades, I have had the same girlfriend for just over two decades, essentially half my life now. She and I are like two peas in a pod, until we aren't. ;)

Here is the basics of the brass, if you need exact dimensions, I will have to get them later.

Scrap loading today, would like to finish prepping the remaining coax and wire. When I get back from the scrap yard, I am going to load the remaining steel and the aluminum to take on Thursday, it will be nice to have all that **** gone, probably could even take the wood spools to the dump, then I don't have to deal with a burn pile. will see how things go today.

Scrap yard is like, “maybe we can unload you”. I am going to go there and sit and wait for them. They told me yesterday 1:30 is perfect. LOL. I want to get it done before tomorrow, going to be raining and that will make it no fun at all.

Got the scrap unloaded, my scale is very accurate, glad I talked to them about pricing on Monday, copper took a 20 cent dive and they honored the quoted prices. Total for this trip was $5135. I still have some more stuff to bring in, just need to prep it and sort it. Should be able to fit in the back of the burb, probably another $500 or so.

That's a good company. Maybe the only option, but a company you would go back to in any case.

I was pleased and I will go back. I am sure they enjoyed the fact that I had it all prepared well.

Tomorrow I am headed to pick up the fume extractors, will be waiting for the rain to stop, hopefully I will be back a bit after lunch so I can still get something done at the shop.

Thanks TwoBytes, essentially it is worth next to nothing, that is why I bought it. Built rugged, nice quality, overall decent condition, cheap price, equals a nice truck for me in the end.

Good to hear from you again, you haven’t missed too much, I haven’t been as busy at the shop due to running my Dad’s business and all the problems that go with that.

Yesterday I do get the fume extractors, ended up being one 10’ arm and one 6’ arm on each setup, still worth the money for sure. Now all I need to do is figure out where they are going and plumb them up. That’s all, ha, my own famous last words. :(

Rain, Rain, go away! I hope this weekend is not rainy. Took a small load to the scrap yard to get rid of the last of the warehouse steel and mixed aluminum. The yard was so busy, I dumped it all in light iron, wasn't about to wait an hour to get an extra $30. Now I have one more load to take to the dump and then the remaining stuff inside the shop to prep. There are a few more hunks of aluminum out back, but I figured I would send those with the scrap from the fire truck rear body.

I just can’t seem to get to what I want to do, Dad roped me into getting the 1956 truck, well it is a total pile, between the rust and the hacking he did, it is essentially a few parts and that is it. It is a shame as it looks really cool at first, but then you look closer and realize the front torsion bars are removed, the engine is sitting on 2x4s resting on the skid plate and the front CV joints go up to the center of the tires instead of down.

Can’t wait to see what the rest of it looks like. I am going to do a quick harvest of the engine, trans, and transfer case. Probably take the rear end and front center section too, the rest is pretty well toast.

Things got complicated again, my Father has given away a set of new frame rails and apparently they are back, a bit of rust from sitting outside, but I can have them for nothing.

Might have to rethink the 4x4 now.

I took the body and floor off the frame, tomorrow I will get the engine/trans/transfer case out and then the frame can go out back. I still need to figure out what to do with the engine for now, I really am running out of space, quickly.

Still have more scrap to prep, seems like it never ends, but in the end it is money, except right now so is my time. :(

I spent way too much time (and money) on eBay this morning, bought a few cool machinist tools, some are duplicates and will need to be sold again, but they were part of a package deal. Trying to get the duramax engine out, looks like I have to roll it outside again, just not enough room to get at it with the forklift. The day is flying by, but in a bad way, I can tell this week is going to feel like I went backwards in progress, got to fight it. :(

I hate being at other people's mercy and that is how this entire week is starting, guess I am going to have to push back a bit more.

Now I have spent the last three hours trying to figure out what to do with the duramax setup, can't find a good place for it, at least not one that I can get to without moving everything at least two and a half times. I have some pallet racking, may try and set that up, but no good level place, then I thought about the trailer with the large side doors, need to move two rows of trucks and then the stuff inside too. I figure if the thing is going to be worth anything later, I better get it under cover, otherwise I might as well toss it in the pond and see if it floats.

I think I have figured out (again) why I am so overwhelmed, nothing is finished. Everywhere I look is another incomplete project, another mess that I haven't cleaned up, another thing I haven't made a decision on, another..................

Makes me feel like some gasoline and a match is the best solution. Then I was checking out the mud situation (still too muddy to do much out back) and I got to thinking, no leaves on the trees yet, they go away in October, so essentially 5 months or less of green leaves, how depressing is that??? :(

I hate making myself spiral in the downward way, but damn, why do I bother, then I remembered that I "like" this stuff. Maybe I am just confused, I need a direction, doesn't seem to matter what direction, just one, not ten. I am going to work on one thing this evening (I had to retype that, originally thought it was still afternoon) and try and stick with it for the foreseeable future until it is completed. I mean completed, finished, checked off the effing list even if it takes me two weeks. Well, maybe I will start small and try and snowball things into a two week project, I don't think I am that strong willed yet. ;)

Focus my young padawan... the force is strong with you. Things will get done.

Today my day went sideways too but made sure every vector project got to a good stopping point. Plus I got HALF of what I originally wanted to do.

The tree thing... you live in Maine... two seasons... Winter and Spring... then Winter again.

It is actually three seasons, Winter, Construction, and black flies.

I will try and concentrate my efforts, sometimes I just get a bet cranky. I have been having trouble sleeping and that really screws with me. This week looks pretty decent overall, so I hope to make a dent in things, a noticeable one.

Strouty, with all due respect, the problem is that you continually chase shiny objects instead of polishing the ones that you have in front of you. You might help yourself by going back to the beginning and reading only your own posts to gain this perspective. As outsiders, others can see the issue easily.

I understand exactly what my issue is, it is spelled with a capital ME. I do lose sight of that as things tend to get spread out and I don't think I want to remember it either.

In the past I have tried not to get sidetracked, but man, seems near impossible for me to make it a week without a major turn. It doesn't take me very long to get to the point where I forgot my original path, then when I turn around, the path has been wiped away and I have to start from scratch again.

Just looking at the mess on my bench I can see the latest progression, the mess is like a map. Maybe I am just a "mess cartographer", I could start an app and people could search for treasures in my messes.

My latest mess was the fume extractors, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

OK, so I know I sound like a scratchy, whiny, broken record, but bear with me, I promise I am going in the right direction.

I cleaned up almost the entire front yard, then found some space that can be used in the conex and one of the other trailers. I should be able to get the pallet of misc electrical stuff out of the shop utilizing that space and the dumpster. Then I want to work on the remaining scrap prep so I can not only get it out of the shop, but get some more money for it.

I still have the business related **** going on, Verizon and AT&T are both dragging their feet and changing things at the last minute, looks like a **** storm will ensue. Believe it or not this is all from the tower project that I started two years ago. Sometimes things take a lot longer than anticipated, details get blurred, and feelings get hurt.

I didn't get any pictures of the yard, darkness beat me, but it looked much better, tomorrow I should have it all cleaned up. I need to list a few things on craigslist and get some stuff ready to list on eBay, one of the things is the Blue F350 dump truck, I am going to get rid of it, I don't want to fix a Ford. I also need to pull out the half truck from out back, the motor and transmission are slated for another project, so they need to get pulled and the cab needs to go away with the other Ford, the propane F700. So knuckle boom needs to be removed, all this while trying to figure out removal of the fire truck body.

The leaves should be arriving soon, I decided against the gasoline, it would just be another mess for me to clean up.
