I still haven't unloaded the grinders from the truck, probably do it next week, tomorrow I have to get ready for the arbor press event (APE), I am sure it will be easier than I anticipate, but I am not taking any chances. Scheduled Sunday morning for the APE.

That arbor press is amazing. Never seen one that big. I guess size does matter! Take some pics when you get it in your shop.

Going to unload the burb this morning, then I will go and get my Dad’s truck and load it up for tomorrow, hopefully my back will cooperate, still bugging me, not terribly, but enough to know things could go sideways if I do something stupid.

Back is awful, I was going to try and use the pallet jack, but I think it will end up being a bad idea, I would need to pick it up and spin it to be safe since the heaviest part is against the wall. I figure I am going to make up some wheels that will clamp to the base, seems like it will be the easiest way to move it. Unfortunately the bottom is not flat, it has raised ends (like feet), so I think trying to use pipes to roll it will turn into a mess. I wanted to make just two halves and clamp them together, but I think it will be safer to make four halves, so I will have two sets that get clamped together, they are swivel casters and will allow for easy movement once installed. Fingers crossed that it will work, I don't think my back will take too much oomph. I am gathering the parts now, need to find the right size threaded rod for the pipe I have. I took some rough dimensions, now I wish I had sent more time with that detail, oh well. Once it is at the door, I should be fine since I have the little boom truck. If my back wasn't so bad, I would bring a bunch of extra things, but I am in pain just trying to gather the supplies that don't weigh anything. :(

The only good thing is that my back usually feels better in the morning and I am headed out at 6 AM, so I should be able to get a bit more out of it than I would later in the afternoon. I am definitely visiting the chiropractor on Monday. Now all I have to do is dig out my wooden blocking, pry bars, the welder, the saw, then cut things to size and glue them together, that's it! ;)

After an hour and a half, I almost have access to the tools, I can tell you one thing, this is going to be a good test of my perfectionism, the end result will be more of a Git 'er done type process. I think I need two good days of shop time and I can have the rest of the scrap cleaned up, so that means it will take me a week...........

Next week I have so much paperwork and contracts to deal with, I am dreading it, I had planned on using Monday as a partial shop day, the rest of the week will be less likely to allow for much of any shop time. :( If I can get my back in order, I think I could stand working most of the day in the office, then taking some shop time in the late afternoon, early evening. I will shoot for this type of schedule in June, I think May is shot at this point.

I can tell that I am going to have to reevaluate my priorities and projects, hopefully I can at least get that figured out before the snow flies again. My project lists are so long that I have essentially given up on my review process and I really need to get back into that, weekly reviews help me a lot, I am just scared to look at the lists now. I melded things together from the office side and that was a big mistake, my list keeps getting longer due to projects needing something from someone else, or things get sidetracked, heck yesterday the huge tower company I fought over the last couple years came to me and offered to sell the tower to me for $1, now I need to investigate things and see if it is worth doing, could possibly be a financial benefit, but I need to dive into the details, just one more thing to think about and analyze. I have been chasing back rent for so long that I am now neglecting things that need to be taken care of now.

Thanks X, I actually might have some help, won’t know until he either shows up or doesn’t.

This will be on one side and an identical one will be on the other side, connected by 1/2” threaded rods. Really rough, no prep, I am literally burning through the paint, one down three to go.

Last one done, it would be really nice if I had a fume extractor. ;) The shop is hazy right now and the paint fumes ****. I am going to load the pallet jack too, just in case. Just need to move another half dozen things. :(

Forgot to get dinner, now all the local places are closed. Guess I will have to stop somewhere on the way home.

Loaded and ready to roll, not going to lie, I loaded the pallet jack by hand, too much stuff in the way to move the forklift, it doesn’t hurt yet.

My help showed up and we used my rollers, worked awesome! Took us less than an hour to load it from start to finish. We are at the Cheesecake Factory now, then headed back to the shop.

Having recently used my 1 ton tiny table top press... seeing yours... to which, I would never need... but I am seriously jelly of your equipment... and space.

Change of subject... what's up with the "house" you got near your shop? Did I miss the details?

The house is in limbo, owner has basically changed her mind several times. I have offered a few solutions, but I think I am going to get to watch the house rot to the ground. Maybe I will be able to buy the land from her heirs. I haven’t totally given up, but I am not optimistic anymore.

That doesn’t bother me, as I told her originally, I helped someone in need, I look at it as a good deed. The really crappy thing is going to be watching the house sit vacant and slowly fall apart.

Glad your back is ok. It's sad to watch something nice go to pot just because people are to afraid/stubborn/stupid/naive to move.

My last offer was to give her a big security deposit, her concern is that I am going to make the place worse. She has NO insurance on it, part of the agreement would be that I have to keep it insured. She took my lease that was written to her benefit at my cost and basically ripped it apart, she didn’t want to pay for a lawyer, but she wanted to protect herself, I couldn’t agree to what she wanted, basically I would need to get her approval for any construction, I would also need to give her all my costs for each job, and everything had to be inspected for code requirements. If the Code enforcement officer saw the place, I am confident that they would condemn the place.

I am up, my back feels like I went through the wringer. I did try and sleep in my bed last night, four hours later and I had to get up and go back to the couch. I need another bed, no question about it. It stink since I just spent too much money on that one, the next one will be one that has a good guarantee and trial period.

Strouty, i have a bad back as well, and after 10 years sleeping on one, i SWEAR by a latex foam mattress. There's a joint on the north side of Detroit that makes any size and firmness of mattress you want. I definitely know when i am not sleeping in my bed.

Sorry to hear about the house. Something never felt right about the whole thing, but I was hoping it would work out for you.
Let her kids know that you’d like first refusal, then wait it out. In the meantime, maybe the lot on the other side will come up for sale someday.

The lady has discussed reimbursement for the work, I want a first refusal signed with a $10k credit towards purchase price to offset the work, if she doesn’t want to do the security deposit, that will be may last attempt.

86, the bed I have is a latex foam, just ended up being too firm, but when I was shopping, I had looked at so many mattresses, somehow I overlooked the fact that they offered no guarantee at all. I am a side sleeper, by even on my back this one is too firm, I tried toppers and nothing helped. Basically it is no use to me at all, at least it was only $2000. :(
