I made it home, with the Blurb, I think that the lift pump wiring has been a big part of my problems all along. From what I understand there are two circuits that control the lift pump, one is the glow plug relay (used to prime the fuel system) and the other is the oil pressure switch. I am thinking that the oil pressure switch circuit was never working, and that the glow plug relay circuit was, until yesterday (yup, it is tomorrow for me). This would allow for the engine to start easily using the lift pump, but then it would shut off and the injection pump would pull the fuel (really not good for the pump) to keep the engine running. Under decent throttle or towing it would act all kinds of funny because there wouldn’t always be enough fuel. On top of this, the lift pump circuit that uses the OPS could have randomly been working, making things even more off the wall. I am pretty sure that the computer isn’t smart enough to understand that there isn’t enough fuel, so no codes would be set. If the first part of the wiring had 12 volts, the ECM would think the lift pump was functioning even though it may not have been. I will have to do some more investigating, but I think I am about at my limit with the Blurb, I need to start from scratch, the previous owner did too many things that can’t easily be undone and I am sure that there are more wiring issues that are just going to get worse. :(

That’s why I have a fuel pressure gauge on mine. Leroy’s diesel makes a bolt that replaces top of filter hold down with 1/8 inch pipe thread in it. Sending unit and wiring to gauge . Easy to do.No lift pump will ruin IP as you know.

where is up here iam western me , nothing but a breeze, not a drop of rain
Penobscot bay, lost power twice, lost internet. Gennie ran for awhile. Cmp must be worried about question 3 as they 3 line trucks in my town. Place is a mess, havent been out yet but lots of little branches on deck. I think last years Christmas storm was worse but the further east you go the worse it got. 80mph gusts way down east. They predicted once it hit gulf of Maine it would die down but it was hurricane status until it hit NS. It also trended west away from Halifax NS so closer to Downeast. Could have been worse, the track they had on Tuesday had me worried.

No damage at the Salvage Garage, well one casualty, but it isn't a total loss, some of my Lista storage wall panels fell over and one is tweaked a bit. Should bend back enough to be usable. Only other thing I found is a large bald face hornet nest, I will probably have to deal with it as they were not happy with me going anywhere near the thing and I was about 50 feet away.

Today is going to be mellow for the rest of the day, it is my GF's B-day and we are going to do a quick road trip. Probably get some dinner and then come home. I have to be out early tomorrow, I just hope I can get some sleep, the last week has been sleep havoc and my body hates it. :(

I am not tackling the wasps tomorrow, have to deal with some stuff before Dad brings in this Craigslist guy that he wants to buy all the old army trucks for scrap, plus other things. I need to make sure he doesn’t try and scrap any of my trucks or trailers. This could be a good thing or it could turn into a nightmare. I found out about this at about 7:30 tonight. Will report back tomorrow.

I am up at the Hill, going to do a bit of paperwork so that when Dad arrives I can have him sign things. I will be interested to see what Dad does with the scrap truck situation, I know the guy won't pay anywhere near what they are worth, but I think Dad wants to get rid of some things and this is his solution. Another typical solution to a problem that doesn't exist or matter. If he does sell any of the trucks, I am taking pictures of them and having him sign things so there is NO question about what went down in the future.

Hehe, that's a good one! Smart idea to get him to sign off on things with a physical signature. I heard people were getting Elon Musk to do that when we took over Twitter. Do you really care if he wants to get rid of a bunch of stuff for scrap value? Saves you time and effort doing it in the future.

I just saw a tip after you ran out of water about putting a drinking straw around the chain in a toilet to keep the chain from wrapping around.

Last night was a late night and this morning was an early start. My Brother is involved in the "great truck scrapping dilemma of 2023" now. I had him talk with Dad and I think the one truck that is worth saving will be saved now.

I am headed north this afternoon to meet Walrus and pick up some "spare" waste oil furnaces....

Spare? How many do you need?

I have a couple shops that give me their oil, I get about 1000 gallons a year, should be able to heat both shops with that, especially since I already have a backlog of it. These new furnaces have built in air compressors, pretty neat to not need shop air all the time. Hopefully I can get them both going.

If you are in the area, let me know for sure. I think the furnaces will be pretty straightforward. I am unloading them in a little bit, was thinking I might try and clean them. I can lift them straight up in the air to try and get everything possible out.

I got a few things done, Clark 2.0 is unloaded and man is it just a pile of parts, good parts, parts that can't easily be replaced, but just parts. The frame has been broken in several places, some repaired, some not, the steering is not the same as the original Clark, so no usable parts there, the mast and rams that tilt the mast were broken as well. The carburetor has JB weld holding parts of it together, you get the idea. Glad I looked it over really well before buying it...

Who am I trying to kid, when I got there, it was going home with me regardless. The mast isn't too bad, the repair needs to be cleaned up, but I will probably swap it over to Clark, also going to use the hydraulic and fuel tanks. The radiator, hood, and exhaust manifold will be used too. The transmission/transfer case combo as well as the axles and hydraulic system are all really nice to have spares of. I will probably keep it together as a unit for the time being, once I have gone through some of the more important messes, I can cut it up and store the parts under cover. Unfortunately I didn't get any real pictures, I was too focused. My buddy helped unloading, took about 15 minutes since I had prepped everything, all of that hassle could be avoided if I just upgrade the hydraulics to remote control for the winch. It should be on the short list, I do not always have help, this would make loading and unloading a lot easier.

Chuck says hello.

I will get some pictures this weekend.

Waiting for Autozone to open so I can pick up a fuse tap, that should solve my lift pump issues in the Blurb. I am getting tired of having to open the hood and plugging in my temporary wiring. Last night after I brought the army dump back to the Hill, I setup the relay for the lift pump, but I didn’t want to run another wire through the firewall for switched power, there wasn’t anything easy to tap into, so the fuse tap seemed like the best solution. I think I will make up a keyed (switched) power distribution block, then if you need switched power, it would be very easy to get. I am not sure why they don’t do that anyways? Maybe newer vehicles do, all I get is always hot lugs to connect things to.
