Messy wet snow that unless you have pavement, you need to hold the blade up a few inches. I did make it up the hill and out to the road. Trees are bent over into the driveway.

My power plant, humming along. I think this might be a long outage, it certainly seems widespread and all at once for everyone.
Had that this morning. Now it's 40-ish, and the trees have unloaded. Everything else has 3 inches of icy, slushy snot on it. The plow just struggled its way up the street, the snow is so heavy.

Hate to hear about everyone being without power, it's no fun when the power is out.

Sounds like a big spring time snowstorm, they can pack a punch.

We should be past getting snow but who knows with the weather we have been having.

I am guessing I won't have power back at the Hill for a week, between last week's storm (and 4 days of no power) and this week's storm (lots of snow and no power), I will be lucky if I get anything to the auction at all. They start taking stuff on Monday and I am so far behind it isn't funny. I had dedicated a lot of time to get the taxes done and filled for all the companies this year and I didn't expect to have two weeks of this mess. :(

I will do my best, but I am not hopeful.

IMG_0351.jpegIMG_0352.jpegIMG_0353.jpegI had to plow out at my Dad’s so my stepsister could get to work, it was really only an issue at the road, I had plowed yesterday around noon, so I left the last four inches alone. This time of year is always a balancing act, plow too much and the road gets destroyed, not enough and you could end up with a frozen mess. I suspect most everything will be gone by next week.

I plowed out the other local tower site, really pretty looking, but it is starting to turn to a misty rain, I suspect there will be more trees down.

Damn, I am sitting in my recliner drinking coffee, but just pulled a lap blanket onto me. The pictures made me cold just looking at them. Looking for 63 degrees here today.

Gotta say, I'm happy I don't live in your neck of the woods. I've had the spring itch for a few weeks now and that would have been depressing. There is hope it will keep the ski mountains in business.

Just "Poor Man's Fertilizer." It won't last, and it's pretty for now. It's already sliding off the solar panels, and it's off the trees.

Hey, can you guys send me about 20 gal. of that stuff? I spent about 20 minutes last night using the wife's blender to make about a half gallon of fluffy white stuff for a work problem. Did again this morning, and I'll end up doing it the next 2 nights.

Ground mount system here and it was enough snow to pile up and keep the rest from sliding off, had to go pack it down to get the rest of the snow off

I have the insurance company involved for the damage to the dock pieces and a limb put a hole in the porch roof, no big deal, but the dock is big bucks, I know, I just spent several thousand dollars a year ago on new pieces. Going to be a week or so before we get to take the trees down, trying to get permission from the town to remove some other ones that will be a problem in the future.

On the news they showed a guys home, he had a 80ft pine come down, multiple branches penetrated the house, roof and one wall . The one wall had a bed up against it, good thing it hit his legs and not his head !!!

Power is still on at all locations, going to head out soon so I can start working on my auction stuff. Would be nice to get the one forklift over there at a minimum. I think the biggest issue is if they still have snow on the ground come Monday, I do not want to bring over a bunch of power tools and stick them in a snow bank. Hopefully things will be looking better by then, but it was a mess yesterday when I drove by.

We just saw the first estimate for our power restoration... Tuesday!
This morning is the beginning of day 4 on the generator.
I'm so glad that I decided to go with diesel fuel powered generator. The folks with propane gennys are running out of fuel.
Does your generator allows you to run the whole house or just keeping the basics going?

My neighbor said that his propane bill for the generator is north of $200 a day, pretty sure his cost so much because he "rents" the tanks and can't shop around for fuel prices. I would shut that $hit off and only run it a few hours a day, there is no need to run everything 24/7. I am probably going with propane at the house, but I will own the tanks for sure. My GF wanted a propane stove and we use the gas grill, so I can tap into the tank for that as well.

Yesterday was a bit more about getting things put away and working on some office paperwork than being "productive", today I am going to try and tackle a couple of the "productive" things for the auction.

I definitely wouldn't be running twenty four hours a day at $200 a day. An hour two or three times a day should keep you covered.

I need to check my generator and service it.

I agree with that, might need a bit longer if the temps are crazy cold, but this time of year a couple hours would be fine.

I am over at the Salvage Garage, wanted to take a look at the auction place, it is still covered in snow, except for the low spots that have 8" of standing water, should be fine by tomorrow...

I guess my aim is the hyster P60 forklift and some random things that won't really matter if they sit in a puddle for days. I hope they change the date a week out, it would probably be perfect then, doubt they will change anything though.

I'm good for "normal" usage, including welders and air compressors and the houses needs.
We did get service back mid day. I don't have my notes in front of me but it was 76+/- hours of run time for the generator. It uses just over a half gallon of fuel an hour.

Even with the office work, it sounds like you are still moving forward with the "Productive Stuff."

Honestly, I feel like the auction is a distraction at this point. I have been trying to take care of things as I go, getting the things out from under foot, so to speak. I am working on moving some things around in one of the storage boxes at the SG now, wasn’t going to do as much as I have, but it is just starting to make sense. I needed a base/stand for my wire stripper, found a decent candidate, but it was buried in the back. I have moved things out of the way and made some room for getting to everything. I also found my wire length measuring device, probably use that to measure out some cords and label them. I have dug through the pile of cords way too many times trying to find a certain length cord. I just know that I have limited abilities right now and I think if I just say eff it and put my head down things will slowly start to come out of it. I will definitely have some things for the auction, but I am not going to “drop everything” and just try to get things over there, that whirlwind will create a lasting mess that ***** the will to live right out of me. I really need to start listing things on marketplace and eBay, got to get myself back into the groove of selling things. I know that once it starts, it pretty much starts the snowball effect and things ramp up quickly.

So far I have found about four totes worth of stuff to take to the auction, a portable sandblaster, three carts, some rollers, and a bunch of casters that I will have to sort and put into sets of four (that brings the most money). There is a lot of electrical supplies that I am going to (very) quickly go through, most is going to go, I just don't know what things are, so they are just useless to me. I have found a lot of wire, a good mix of SO cord and THHN wire, some is going to be scrapped, some will get measured out and saved for projects, but the stuff I save will get a measurement tag, so I at least know what it is next time I go looking. Tomorrow I will try and dig out Perk and the Muv-all trailer, it is behind some downed trees another trailer, and some snow banks...
