If you close your eyes while doing all that work... when you actually take a look... you will be as impressed as us... as to how well things are going.

I love those "trash bags". We use them here at the "sand farms"... to steal sand from one place to dump somewhere else.

Good job dude. Gonna be great when we all have that BBQ in the spring.

Those trash bags are going to be the best thing, this way I can pick up all the trash before it snows, but I don't need to actually remove it. The bags will get stacked up and ready for the dump, I can easily move them with the knuckle boom or the forklift.

I got the new battery for the F700 crew cab, it will actually start without too much hassle, not bad for a carburetor that hadn't been used in 20 years. I need to get the rack off it and see if it will fit in the shop, trying to do all the fun stuff, work stuff, new house stuff, and still eat and sleep has been proving to be tougher than expected. I am going to sleep early tonight, tomorrow I want to get everything out of the attic, second floor and first floor. Should be doable, the GF is going to be helping sort the donations and recycling.

Lots more work done so far. Cleaned out attic, first floor and working on second floor now. Should have everything except the basement cleaned out today. I am going to say eff work tomorrow and just work on cleaning the house up, I am way too nervous about snow and I don’t want to have to deal with frozen trash outside.

At least I don’t care about any of this stuff, well maybe a few trinkets that I have found, but nothing of consequence. I hope to have the side yard and the back yard all cleaned up tomorrow.

I have a lot of lamps, but only because I bought out a plant lamp store years ago. I saved the cool ones, might be able to use some in the new place.

I know you have a ways to go but from this angle it looks like it has a lot of character.

Cheers GB

We will be adding character as we go, I have to look at this like a doctor and patient, I need to treat the cancer before treating the acne. There is a lot of work to be done on the inside, the first floor has been pushed down by the lack of supports, the back wall had a lot of rot the someone "fixed", except they didn't jack anything up, so it has made both floors sag as well. The bones are good and these things don't scare me to fix, but they certainly need to be dealt with first. My priority is to clean up the trash outside so I don't have a frozen pile of **** under two feet of snow to deal with later. I am trying to minimize my costs as this was one of those deals that I had to do, but had not planned for it, so the budget is tight right now, especially going into the winter. I will be tearing out the old heating system and I hope that the scrap from the copper will offset all the disposal of the trash. I figure it will be a fairly long project, but I hope to be living there early next year. I am figuring I won't be installing a permanent heat source this year, purely based on my budget. Once we open things up, I may be able to install a pellet stove or something similar and have it essentially heat the first floor and maybe the heat will get to the upstairs rooms a bit. I am getting ahead of myself, structural work first, I have electric heaters that will be used for the time being, as we only will need a bit of heat to actually work.

Been moving trash for a couple hours now, my back is feeling awesome, not. :(

Need to survive today, it is the last day I will really have to do this for a while, unfortunately I need to go make some money and I still need to clean up my shop yard, it is not even close to ready for winter. Been neglecting everything, it is clear I have a bit too much on my plate and I may need to scale back a bit.

We have about 4 more bags to fill, then the outside trash will be done.

I remember those days well. My parents bought an old house in similar condition. The place looks a ton better. Nice job so far. I hope the weather stays in your favor.

Thanks Dwight, we made a huge dent today, all the outside trash is now bagged, bags are stacked and covered so if it does snow we are ready.

I hope to have them gone before we get too much snow. I need to address the wood pile next, we made it a lot larger. The plan was to haul it to my shop for the actual burn, but I may just pay to have it hauled away, so much going on, it would probably be money well spent so I can keep moving forward on my other projects. Regardless, I am feeling good and next is tackling the basement and the shed. Once those are done, I am ready for the demo and then work through all the structural issues. I feel like it will be a fun time, lots of learning curves and some long nights are ahead!

Strouty, you know, just looking at the last couple of posts, be could think you seriously went off the deep end, covering your trash up to protect from the snow.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

I havnt had a chance to complety catch up, but I get the jist of your new house, it's looking good in a short amount of time. Glad to see you got it *******.

Being next to your shop will help a bunch just being able to walk out the door to the shop. It'll be like you picked up a few hours each day.

We use a similar bag for 2,000 lbs of salt that we use to suppress the artisien flow in wells, super sacks.

Maybe you can con the trash guys to take one every week or so, the fees were paid over the years.

It does seem silly to cover them, but we are supposed to get some decent rain tonight and I don’t need to pay the dump for frozen water on top of the trash weight. So the tarp is merely a cost saving effort.

I can’t wait until I am actually living there, it will absolutely save me a minimum of one hour and ten minutes daily, but not having to worry about remembering if I grabbed the right tool to do a house project will be priceless, that can get stressful quick. I think both the house and the shop will end up better overall.

I knew a family … looked normal from the outside... their front hallway was normal... even the view into the living room...

There is where it ended...

They were "could have been on TV" hoarders.... FLOOR TO CEILING stuff... in boxes, hundreds of pieces of luggage... a neat path was carved to get you from point A to B via C D and W... cause you couldn't get from A to B directly.

Sorry for the side story... just wanted to mention... we worry about you Strouty... living right there will make things better.

FYI I liked the mattress in the Lista drawer idea...

The widest drawer I have is only 56" IIRC and that would make for an uncomfortable sleep. The forecast at this point is for a good bit of snow on Friday, so the cleanup is timely, of course now I have to clean up the shop yard and make it ready for snow too. Probably should bring the snowblower to the house and make sure the snow plow will actually start. I think it needs new transmission cooler lines, haven't started it since probably May. Too much to do, not enough time to do it. :willy_nil

I stopped by today, looks much better in the daylight, I never really even got to see it last night. Plenty to do, but this is pure motivation.
