I only buy fruit logo things. They work far better and I have a lot less problems with them. It is very helpful when you are considered “tech support” for more than half the family. I haven’t dealt with windows products since they tried to force Vista on me. I would still run XP if I had a choice.

Being a relational database guy the fruit company fell flat with data.

I still feel like I didn't get anything done. Also just found out I have to go to the Island and drill tomorrow (I was asked if I could, but saying no would be a bad decision), then Friday the surveyors are showing up for the layout of the right of way that will be used for a city street eventually supporting a subdivision. Dad arranged all that and now I have to scramble to find all kinds of info just because he wants to make it happen ASAP. Whenever we rush, it always takes more time and costs more money in the end, he can't see that. As long as everyone is running around like a lunatic, he is happy, because he knows they are doing something (not a very productive way to do things, but it is his way). :(

Placed the mulch around the plants in the rain garden. Then we went up to the Hill and loaded all the wood from the trees we cut the other day, glad to have that done. I guess I didn’t take a picture of it when we were done, but it is complete.

My grandparents house is now a pile of rubble, truly sad, but no one would step up to the plate and take ownership due to all the repairs the place needed.

On a totally different note, there was a trailer I tried to buy a few months ago, it was sold very quickly, well it is back up for sale. Guy has had it listed for $11k, I asked some questions abut it, he answered half of them a week later, price dropped to $9k. I asked the same questions he didn’t answer again, he said he would get back to me, answered half the questions. I wrote things off. Fast forward to yesterday, he messaged me that he needed it gone and was dropping the price to $6k, I told him he would have to answer my questions about the trailer, he finally did today, looks like tomorrow night I am going to buy another trailer. ;)

I will find out in a couple hours, headed out with Perk to take a look.

Island dock project, got all five holes drilled, didn’t use the skid pan and Dad didn’t flip out. Weather was perfect, no humidity, overcast and not too hot or cold. Everything went smooth. :)

Glad drilling went well.

Fingers crossed on the trailer!

Trailer was a lot worse than expected, the carburetor on the pony motor was bad, muffler was broken, hydraulic oil was almost out, battery was dead, ran out of gas. After about two and a half hours we got the tail folded up enough that I felt like I could drive home safely. Went the long way to make sure no DOT, the northbound weigh station was open in full force when I went by on the way down.

As for the price, before I left he was firm at $6k, without saying anything about the price while I was inspecting things, he kept lowering the price. When he hit $4,500, I paused for a bit, then countered with $4k. It will take a good bit of welding and a bunch of other things to get it to where I need it to be, but it will be worth it in the end. Not that I needed another project, but at that price I can live with it, I had figured I was going to need to do a few thousand dollars worth of work anyways, in the end I will probably have closer to $10k into it, but the trailer will be like new when I get done. Pictures tomorrow, too dark when I got back and way too much going on when I got down there.

Yesterday was certainly a long day, I am feeling it. I am going to try and take it easy today, notice I said try......

Saturday morning I am having a buddy come look at the trailer, this way we can see how much work needs to be done, I am figuring a good solid week at least, most likely more. What I want to accomplish today is to try and get the pony motor running properly and get the hydraulics functioning. I also need to start figuring out what Perk needs to have auxiliary hydraulic lines so I can run the trailer from the wet system. I have been aiming to do this for a while now and I will need it when I buy an end dump trailer for sure.

As long as you fix it up to your standards, and use it for a long time, it will be well worth all the work and money you will be putting into the trailer. We definitely need some pictures!

The color match to Perk’s blue is very close, makes it even cooler. ;)

I found some paperwork and there are notes about the trailer weight, it weighs a little under 18k pounds empty, so she is heavy for sure.

That'll be a good one for sure. Now start cutting out the rust and patching it all back up. Working hydraulics are important when you rely on them to get the ramp up and down lol.

Does this change the plans for the other 3 or 4 trailers? Obviously you'll need at least one ready to work until this one is done, but do the others still get fixed up or cannibalized or are they free to go now?

This is an additional trailer, I still want to have a good pintle hitch tag trailer, I am planning on building the removable flatbed and when that is on, I would need the tag trailer. In the end I expect it have more trailers than trucks, they are much cheaper to register and insure.

At this point the black deck over trailer will probably get fixed up too. Once I have some more time, I will get the other trailers figured out, for now the plan is swap wheels and tires around and then sell the red one and the yellow one for whatever I can get.

I am actively searching for a 26’ (or close to that length) end dump trailer, it will be needed to haul material around at the SG, I plan on bringing the material up to the Hill to help fill in and enlarge my parking area.

Got the carb and muffler off, needed a drain pan for the hydraulic oil so I can pull the filter off and get a new one. Battery is charging, going to try and register it today along with the little dump trailer. If the parts are available, I hope to have it running this afternoon, then I can mess with things a bit more.

One of those fancy mufflers.

47457ebbbad530ccbb875174da4148bc.jpg

Hydraulic filter was a bust, drain pan was too small and too big, made a huge mess, I hate it when people install filters with no shut off valve. I don’t want to go and reply back everything, I just want it to work and prove it works, then I will think about remaking things. Probably swap out the engine for a Honda too, they seem to be much more reliable long term.

Nice trailer for 4k even with all the work that it needs.

I want to know what the owner was thinking asking 11k at first if they so easily dropped to 4k in in a matter of days/hours/minutes.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be a rain day, then Sunday I have to go with Dad to look at a loader in Massachusetts, hopefully we will buy this one and be done with it.

I am covering up the pony motor on the trailer so it doesn’t get wet, then I am probably going to head home. I need to come up with a reasonable plan for tomorrow, the rain changes everything.

Hasn't started raining yet, but I think it will be here soon. I really wanted to try and move the log loader, if we get a break in the rain or it starts later, I am going to try. Pretty sure the float is stuck, so might be able to get it working with a little tappy tappy.

Good luck with the log loader. If your area is like ours was, the rain will be good for everything. 3 days in a row, mostly at night. Grass now is actually more green than brown

So far so good, rain has been steady, but we got the log loader going and moved before it was too bad. I feel confident we can get it going again to shuffle things down near the burn pile when we start messing around with that area.

I think having the contractor at the house was making me mad at how bad it was going, he did a decent job, it just wasn’t to my standards. I have been overwhelmed with the shop, so we decided to do some things to the house instead, spent a couple hours just discussing and measuring. The plan moving forward should maximize the layout of the house, we already started ripping and tearing, moved the peninsula and cabinets to where the wood stove was (just temporary), it makes the place look 50 times better and a lot bigger too. It was the boost I needed to get some motivation for the project. I will post some pics when I get back there, we are getting some lunch and parts for my Friend’s truck now.

I also decided that this week I am ordering a drone, been too many cool things that I could have recorded, but I have either been alone or not enough people to run a camera too.
