I also found out tonight that the countersink bits I bought are not going to work for the frame bolts, it should have been obvious, but I just assumed that a 5/8” countersink bit would work for a 5/8” bolt, wrong, it is more like 1 1/8” bit that I need. I ordered an 1 1/4”, hopefully it will be here later this week. The Tru-Hitch has feet that need to load right where these bolts are on the top of the frame, I have been just trying to get them somewhat between them, but it really just needs to be flat. I may be able to use a drill bit to make it work, might have to take a trip over to the SG again, I don’t have any big bits at the Hill.

Everyone needs a 5 ton in the backyard, right?

So you would go down to well and manually release a valve to allow drain back. Should work if you only have to do every few weeks. How deep is the well? Is it a spring hole and can you get a good test on it? Pretty interesting system. I have a old rocked up hand dug well on my property and I had a couple of 4ft well tiles put in last year in what I thought was a spring hole. It was so dry last year there was nothing in them for months, full right now. Water running for weeks now but its either not a spring or I missed the location by a few feet.

Not used to having a hitch in Goldfender, so low it hits the curb. ;)

Can you flip that hitch upside down? The ball would be about the same height with the hitch up the other way. Seems like it would catch on all kinds of stuff hanging down that low!

Yes the hitch can be flipped, I just hadn’t expected it to be that low, I usually drive 3/4 ton 4x4s.

Walrus, I don’t know how deep it is, but there is essentially a damned section of a stream that always has water about ten feet from it. I have never had it run dry and you can fill all three tanks (about 1000 gallons) in less than 2 hours.

Cleaning up the shop, have a few things to do, but essentially waiting on my Brother, he is going to help get the Tru-Hitch ready to go so we can haul his log loader. I am putting the newly refurbished dump trailer in the shop so I can fix a few things and maybe even paint the wood, probably last a lot longer too. I may grab some elevator bolts to try and get the wood attached to what is left of the steel along the lower half of the dump box. Not much to work with, but it will still take my trash to the dump and it will dump it!

Had a car pull up to the shop, went out to see who it was, local PD.

Apparently there is a guy living in a camper on the property that abuts the tower site at the end of the road, he has been speeding up and down the road and the police have had many complaints. The officer asked if I could give him the combination to the lock so he could surprise the kid, I gladly gave it to him. I almost wish I could be there when he goes to talk with him, I actually wish there wasn't anyone living there, it is a bit weird and totally against the ordinances, but the officer said that the town wouldn't do anything about it, he had already tried. Oh well.

My Brother says he will be here in a bit, so maybe we can get things squared away with the Tru-Hitch, not sure when we are going to haul the log loader, but we are running out of time for this week pretty fast. Had he showed up yesterday we might have been able to do it today, but I don't know how tomorrow is going to be yet.

I am also leaving this here for my reference:

This week I have a few tasks that are on the important list:

Get well/water system figured out and order parts

Scrap forklift batteries and forklifts

Scrap coax

Tow my Brother's log loader

Move 5 Ton army dump to SG

Move Mitsu to SG

Bring Loader to SG

Meet with the Surveyor for Dad

Get new cell phones for Girlfriend and her Mother (probably most important, scheduled for Thursday morning!)

It looks very similar to the mod I made on my new (then) Milwaukee M18 1/2" impact. Does your ladder mod work as well as my impact mod?

If your ladder looks like that after use, you may want to cut back on the ice cream.

It would be a shame if the guys camper got run over by a run away machine.

Meeting with the surveyor in an hour, then headed to meet up with the GF and her Mother, for the cell phones. After lunch I am going to meet up with my Brother so we can tow the log loader, hopefully the rain isn’t going to be too bad.

Surveyor meeting was eye opening, Dad’s grand development plans are probably not in the cards, at least not with the current ordinances, maybe in another 20 years they will need more houses. It is however good for me as it will protect the Hill for now. ;)

No, wouldn’t want him there until they have things straightened out, he would just get confused at this point, I know I was.

We tried to go to a local Applebee’s, but after 15 minutes it was clear they were understaffed severely, no one had even looked our way and we weren’t the only people waiting for a table, we also weren’t the first ones to leave. I decided to schedule lunch for Spring if 2025.

I know, I have been working on logistics, but I do want a YouTube channel setup. My biggest concern is having enough content to keep people happy. Seems like it would be good to have several pre-made videos so I can work my way into things.

If you’re going to start shooting, feel free to pick my brain. After thirty three years of storytelling on film, there’s lots to choose from.

I will certainly talk with you. I am not quite there yet, but I think over this winter I will be ready to invest some time and effort into things. I struggle with the fact that I already have limited time and trying to film stuff just adds lots of time to it, at least to do it well. I also don't want it to seem like a job, it has to be "fun".

It is called a Tru-Hitch and it is self contained, connects into the fifth wheel like a trailer, then folds up onto the truck for transport. Very versatile, makes Perk into a wrecker with very minimal effort, once I get things all setup the way I would like, it will take about 15 minutes to go from a truck to a wrecker.
