My GF is back on her early schedule for the next few weeks, so I have to either get up at 4:45 or wait until 6:30 for the shower, I hate it. :(

The military sure has some strange details in their leaf spring design. I've seen this on their LMTV trucks also.
Nice little trailer that should be handy behind perk.
Now Mr. Tiedown and rigging Hardware man 😉 , one ratchet ******** that bucket?
Surely you snapped the picture before you were finished chaining it down. 👍

It is interesting that a trailer would have worn sway bar bushings. And if you have any extra 5.9 C's that are in your way, feel free to drop them off here. I could use one or two of them.

It is an LMTV trailer, that is why it looks similar.

I don't ever have "extras", I always have just enough or never enough.....

Got the trailer unloaded, it sits so high that I think the jack won’t even lower it enough to set it on a normal truck’s pintle hitch. :( At least I have a military truck still, not sure if I would rework it or if it will just have to wait for me to build my new truck. ;)

Today the Blue Burb had another fit, luckily my mechanic Buddy was with me and we had the scan tool. Looking things over it seemed like it wasn’t getting fuel, we could see that the pump was pumping fuel, so it wasn’t the lift pump. We couldn’t do much testing, but I decided to dump water on the injection pump, it started up almost immediately. After that we took it for another drive, then at the Salvage Garage, we shut it off and waited 45 minutes, tried to start it again and it wouldn’t start, poured water on the injection pump, started right up again. Pretty sure it is the fuel shutoff solenoid, when the pump was rebuilt, they test it, but until it gets hot, it doesn’t act up, so it wouldn’t register as bad during the testing. The solenoid doesn’t have any way for the computer or scan tool to see what is going on, so no diagnosis that way, would have to use a fuel pressure gauge. We are going to swap it out for hopefully a new one, but we may not be able to get one, so it may be a temporary used one.

We also pulled all the tires and wheels off both trailers, and swapped the landing gear on the step deck trailer. Tomorrow will be finishing touches on the trailers and putting the tires and wheels on at least the tilt deck that is going to the auction. It seems like it is the issue, at least for the cranking with no start after the engine has been sitting for a while. I still have another issue of long cranking, could be from the same solenoid, but I had the same issue before, with the other pump and a different solenoid. That one never left me high and dry though, I have some water with me just in case. 🙃

That's kinda funny that you carry water, I used to carry water when I owned a 1950 ford shoebox, the fuel pump was mounted on top behind the carb, it would get hot and vapor lock, I would tie a shop rag around it and soak it. A few minutes and I was back on the road. Not much changes.

That is funny. Hopefully swapping it out does the trick, but it seems awfully strange to have two separate pumps both with the same bad part, especially considering that I have never had to swap one of the solenoids out before and I have had my fair share of 6.5 diesels.

I am shooting for an ultra productive day today, hope I don’t end up hitting my foot instead.

Biggest issue is that it looks like crappy weather for Wednesday through Friday, but I have plenty to do inside as well. I also have help next weekend and Monday to actually get things to the auction location. Should be doable, I have been concentrating on the big things that are important to me.

The furnace guys fixed the waste oil furnace yesterday, guess I am glad that they did it, much warmer inside this morning. I have the old Lista cabinet shells loaded on the ramp truck, I unloaded the wheels for the tilt trailer, I am now waiting on my Buddy to get here so we can get things rolling on the trailer jack and cleaning the hubs up. Then we are off to the SG to try and finish the other two trailers, then I can bring Perk and maybe even Clark back to the Hill, have to think about that a bit, not sure if I should wait until this weekend or not. Clark would be very useful loading some of the auction items, but I can also use Perk, assuming I can get the dang remote control working, after using it that way, going back to the manual controls *****.

Poor Matt, being compared to me.

As for number of items, not totally sure yet, I still have days worth of work before I will know what is going and what won’t make it over there. So far I have two trailers ready to go, I want to unload the camper and send it off, really want the C-70 crane to go away, then the 5 ton army tractor truck. Then there are miscellaneous things to take over there, plus all of Dad’s stuff, should be several trips, nothing like a good spring cleaning.

They work well, I have taller ones, but my Brother is currently using them. I also have pin style ones that are holding up the step deck trailer at the Salvage Garage.

I slept in today, didn’t help at all. :(

Yesterday was an up and down day, got a lot of things done, had a few let downs, but overall it was a good day. The Muv-all is still not ready, they say today at noon. The track that I thought was for the track crane was for a smaller bobcat skid steer, back to the drawing board on that. The tire shop didn’t get my tires dismounted like they said they would and the 3/8” aluminum Diamond plate is $2900 and three weeks away. I decided that the best alternative is to start buying aluminum dock plates and cut them up for the panels I need, should be significantly cheaper than buying the full sheet, unfortunately there are none local to me right now. I do have two at my disposal currently and that will get me started.

We tightened a belt on Guido and replaced another, now it charges properly and doesn’t squeal like a pig. Still smokes like a chimney, but nothing short of an engine rebuild will change that. Today is going to be the day of tires, I have to swap and move and shuffle and dance my way to the finish line.

Fun part about yesterday was I got to bumble my way through using the Bridgeport to make some holes and flat spots in the solid rod for the landing gear extension, that was nice. I really need to get back to using that more often, of course, I also have to move everything inside the Salvage Garage so I can install the racking and build/rebuild the walls for the super mega stockroom. Just one, err, twenty (a thousand) things to go before that will happen. :(

All these daily reminders ****, I just wish I had 48 hours in every day and only need an hour of sleep.

Well, once again, the Blue Burb is still causing problems. I bought a NEW fuel shutoff solenoid and it did not solve the issue, but pouring just a little bit of cold water on the injection pump solves the problem instantly. I am going to have to take the advice of Walrus and start a thread on that other forum, at this point I am about as annoyed as can be, it was the only thing that made sense. My Buddy wants me to change the wiring harness, he thinks that the water may be actually making a connection that isn't being made as well as it should be, I am not so sure. I will never buy another one of these that someone else replaced the engine in, unless it is purely for parts, I don't even know where to start because I don't know for sure what parts the previous owner used, how he put things together, or what problems made him sell the truck. I am sure he knew about stuff and I got owned........

We were going to use ice, that is the next step. I think this all revolves around timing of the pump or the starter itself. The tech 2 shows the timing takes a while to come up to the required advance to start. When it is hot, it stays at 9 and wants 14. I don’t know enough about the pumps yet, but I can see I need to do more investigation.

That was a long day. Too long, I went to pick up the Muv-All trailer, first time it has been on a slope while on pavement, thought it latched, should have double checked. Instead I got to check out the durability of the new landing gear and the stretchability of the air lines and the cable for the lights.

The only thing that I can figure is that it actually rolled back before it latched, this is possible because the trailer has no emergency brake, I intend to add this to at least one axle, it was on the list, now it is a priority. Regardless, had I checked the fifth wheel latch like I almost always do, this wouldn’t have happened. It was late and my back and I were arguing again, I didn’t “feel like” crawling under there with my flash light. That won’t happen again.

Yup, I was glad of that too.

Tires, tires, and I am tired. :(

Will be dealing with lots of tires today, yesterday the one tire and wheel took me way too long to get changed, everything was just wrong enough to make it miserable. All the tires on the trailer that has the knuckle boom temporarily mounted to the back are now ready to roll, it will be loaded up and go to the auction as well, one less thing in the way!

Very nice Strouty. Also very impressed with your Milwaukee portable hydraulic pump. (y)

I was just looking up what that was, should have scrolled down. It's crazy to see the Milwaukee tools he has that I didn't even know existed.

That one tire looks like the same one Sublime and I had, but I bet yours was just a couple of dollars more than ours......................combined.
