Personally I am surprised when I find one of these old sets for sale. They are so cool who would not want one! Here is a 13pd set from 30s20210719_090611.jpg20210719_090438.jpg20210719_090650.jpg20210719_090705.jpg

Wow. I wonder who came up the "ok" moniker. I am guessing they were promoted to mail room....
So this quote is from a 2018 post 1047 and the logo I'm referencing is post 1053. Not sure if this ever got resolved so apologies in advance if I missed it. I've seen that script "OK" logo ( or at least one awfully close to that) many times including a couple wrenches I have around here somewhere. I'm attempting a link to some info on the The Fairbanks Company of Fairbanks Scales and how they came to market thousands of items, the trademark issues, and the "OK" logo.

Here's a better pic of the logo, and it seems to be a little different from the one Fairbanks used which had the periods in their "O.K."

I don't remember what the issue/question was, but we figured out that it was a brand name that Blackhawk used, apparently only in the UK, in the 30's and maybe 40's. It shows up in catalogs created and published exclusively for the UK market.

Maybe Fairbanks' TM, if they had one, was obsolete by then.

Did I post catalog excerpts back then? (Yeah I'm too lazy to go back and look, and would rather not waste time re-posting...)

EDIT: Even better --- go to ITCL, 1938 Catalog BA38, pages 16 - 19 is the "OK" section. It is brown with a King & Hull Ltd. stamp on the cover.

Yeah, the logos are different and the emphasis on "finish" in your catalog exhibit clinches it. I ran into a "Fairbanks O.K." brochure this weekend just for K.R. Wilson products and I',m looking at a dual marked Mossberg/ fairbanks O.K. wrench right now. Apparently they had some unique marketing arrangements but it looks like Blackhawk in this case wasn't one of them even though Fairbanks did have branches in London, Birmingham and Glasgow among other places.

Here is a 1/4” drive set, no ratchet, missing 7/32” socket, but five extra sockets. 1950s?

Who's going to get the Nuggets Travelin' Salesman briefcase, that's the question!
I have my top three guesses already on the betting table. If anyone else is betting along with me, I will help you out and let you know it will not be me. lol :) I've already visited and rode off with my share of the Twertsy hoard.

It was me. I currently am awaiting its arrival! Here is a little ratchet that showed up today. Looks like it has a 42 date code.20210806_210112.jpg20210806_210127.jpg20210806_210121.jpg
You were my #2 horse in this race. I had the sanding master himself, Don Long, as my #1 bet. lol

Twertsy's Tool Temple is a magical place. I'm glad you got a share of the hoard too.

When I saw you didn't take it, Otg went to #1 for me. But even just betting on who was going to buy it was out of my range, so you'll have to take my word for it. Haha.
If there were no consequences to my reckless buying, the salesman set and the Blackhawk sign would have come home along with the other items that I bought. lol
