I hope his divestiture is due to other interests or opportunities, and not necessity. I wrestle at times with the intelligence of keeping tools I’ll never use and know no one other than GJ members would appreciate.

C1504 No markings on the outside. Added the yellow handle spinner as I had an extra. Thanks horse13 I am sure you we're tempted to take it home as well!20210813_021542.jpg20210813_021756.jpg
The original handle that off-gassed was the yellow variant if I recall. When Twertsy first dragged the set home he mentioned that the handle would have to be replaced.

I was tempted to take your salesman set along with the Blackhawk sign that Don ended up with. Then I remembered that Mrs. Horsey would inspect my purchases and would likely bury me with them in the backyard. I'm happy with the Blackhawk 52-W box and contents along with a few other pre war things that I was able to buy.

I'm partial to Blackhawk tools. I have a set of 12pt 1/2 inch sockets I use all the time. I usually don't like 12pts because they round off screws but I've never had a problem with the Blackhawks. They are my go to half inch set.

Cool. Thanks for the additional pic. It’s kind of interesting that from the outside it doesn’t look like it would be anything special.

When he first got it and showed it here, and again when I was looking it over at his place, I remarked that it almost seems like you want to reverse the spine. But it was meant for displaying open like that obviously.

Glad it went to a good GJ home.

Here is a new scan of the Blackhawk Handy Guide, replacing the one from Tool Archives. The date code is 841 (Aug. 1941) and it has an Oct. 1941 price list stapled in the middle. Please check out the newest items on the International Tool Catalog Library.
Wow! Thanks for posting that. I’d seen extracts from Blackhawk catalogues before, but never a complete one.

It’s quite an eerie feeling looking through something that I suspect my Grandfather looked through 80 years ago.

A bit of a shame though, that apart from Blackhawk not being available, many of the patterns of tools shown are not available today, or not available to the same quality. I’d love to try the ”speed ball” handle! I can feel a project coming on…!

Perhaps it’s a reminder that we should value the quality tools that are available to us?

I just got another piece to add to my blackhawk jack collection.
When I started looking around for the jacks that go with the Totem pole I discovered that Blackhawk made a lighter weight bumper jack

The other day this bumper jack popped up so I grabbed it. When it got here I see that the jack head is a home made piece so I will have to do some work to make it look closer to original but I like the jack very much and it works fine. It's called a J-14 and the pretty one above is a J-18

This may not belong in the Blackhawk thread, but it sure looks a lot like the pretty one in your top photo and there is a hint of red paint on the bumper grabbing piece. Do you have some close up photos of yours you could share? Tom

I found these two jack stands recently. When I saw them, my first thought was, "I wonder if those were made by Blackhawk?" When I saw the sticker, my next thought was "Sold!" I got the pair for $10, which seemed more than fair.

I made the plywood feet to set them on, with a second layer that sits inside the feet to keep them in place. They provide better footing, when supporting vehicles on gravel.

This little ****** had me fooled this morning at the flea market! I was thinking maybe it was some stubby variant I never knew about it, before I realized it was an aftermarket 'Bubba Strikes Again' mod. In this case, he did it pretty good job of doming and chamfering the chop, and I like the result. It almost looks like it belongs! :)

With some patient sanding you can smooth out the job that ole Bubba started. What a nice little set!

Looks like the culprit must have been in a tight spot. From experience I can tell you more than a few tools have suffered a similar fate, occasionally by me!

Here is my Black Hawk assemblage to date, nothing spectacular I think. The #508 1/2" speeder was quite rusty when found. Lock-On sockets in 1/2" Drive 1-1/16, 7/8 (no plating), 13/16, 9/16, 7/16, drag link 49979, These two are quite a bit newer, not sure if Stanley reissue, but guessing so.3/8" Drive 1/2" deep, 13mm. Most of the sockets came out of one GS. Somewhere there is a 10" extension that was sick on class picture day.

I'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to post this but I'm sure some of you have seen this guys roll cab on fb marketplace. He's up in Pennsylvania. Comes with tools, even has a later Blackhawk socket set.

Moving stuff around in the garage today and felt compelled to wire brush this hammer head that I’ve had forever. It was so rusty you couldn’t even tell there was any logo on it. I was surprised!
