Today I found a Nugget 35122 11/16 12-pt. socket in a box of dregs I bought for $10.00. It is in excellent shape, too. No owner's marks or anything! Post #2,780 on the Garage sale thread.

Some vintage Blackhawk drive pieces and adaptors, including a 3/4 to 7/8. I pulled them out after picking up a 1929 Snap On 7/8" drive socket cheap. Looked a little rough and wanted to check it for functionality. All good.

Recently these saltus style wrenches reappeared here, so I thought I might post them.

One nice looking, one not so pretty. They were found as a pair a few years back. Until then I didn’t realize Blackhawk too, made a double ender.

I'm ready to add another tool case to my blackhawk collection.
I've been trying to gather the tools to go in this case for a while. With the help of Joshotto 94 & Drivesitfar I am able to fill out this 19AD set.
It started out as an Ebay purchase with a load of odd ball sockets in it.

1.JPG8 (2).JPG

After a little hammer work and a skim coat of filler the case went into the paint shop for a face lift.
A little sanding and primer to get the case ready for paint

8.JPG

9.JPG

After gathering enough tools to complete the package the case got a coat of yellow paint on the inside and a few days later it received a fresh coat of black paint on the exterior.

10.jpgIMG_3132.JPG

The fun was getting all the tools looking good enough to set in the case. First each piece was cleaned with the wire wheel on my bench grinder, next each tool was smoothed out using my 3" pistol grinder and 220 sand paper getting the tools to look like this

IMG_3127.JPG

The sockets spent an hour in my ultrasonic cleaner getting the grime out from the barrels of each socket then a bout with soap and a wire brush to remove any grease before going over to the bench grinder to clean out the knurled area of the socket.

IMG_3125.JPG

The last step was to black out the tools and put them in the case like the advertisement shows.

IMG_3136.JPG

I forgot that the kit had the 500 speed handle until I brought the case in to add the decal so tomorrow the speed handle will get a facelift as well

I have a black and yellow box like yours also waiting for the same treatment. I doubt I will get near it before the weather goes bad though.
Seeing your final result motivates me to get going on my restoration pile!

I've been playing with an old Blackhawk trolley jack that had been left outside for several years. Front wheels were seized and joints rusty/sticking, but all freed up now except the lift pad which is still stuck in place (difficult to get release oil into its support shaft, might need to use heat, and a bigger mallet :) ). Had to add a little jack oil to get it to lift to full height, but now it goes up and down smoothly.

This is beautiful. I should advertise wherever you are here on GJ in hopes of finishing my modest merchandiser. :)

On Houston Cl,

I have a feeling that this is the same guy who was trying to get something like 4 grand for this item. A friend of mine ran across him at a mid west swap meet. Still a neat item but his price is not in the realm of reasonable.

Do you remember this sad little merchandiser? It still needs quite a few bits to finish up all of the empty slots. If anyone has or knows where to find the following, please consider helping this poor little fella out. For extra credit, if you ever see the small variation of the Blackhawk topper sign that goes on the small merchandiser like this one, pleeeeease tell me. I do not have the luck of our good friend Don Long with Ebay. :)

Main cabinet:
T5
T13
T60
Socket drawer:
No. 16 - 1/2 inch
No. 14 - 7/16th
No. 18 - 9/16th square drive
No. 19 - 19/32nds
No. 25 - 25/32nds
No. 30 - 15/16th

PS
This cabinet will get a nice scrub with Bar Keepers Friend at some point. I just haven't gotten around to it just yet.

Here's mine with some tools in it. It varied from year to year as they would keep the same merchandiser but add new tools

Horse, are these chiefs head sockets, or the ones just after?

They had a list of tools on the door, but year to year tools would change and they would stock whatever in them until they got a new merchandiser

Yep, they did change the assortments in these merchandisers. Here's the interior of mine:

These are the ones just after the Chief's head sockets. Essentially they are the same exact sockets minus the head. You'll also notice that on my merchandiser, they replaced the Chief's head on the cabinet door and replaced it with 'Save your knuckles'.

Just looked, and I have 5/8s, 11/16s, 3/4s and 13/16s. You are welcome to them, but they don't seem to be on the list.
I really appreciate you taking a look for me. Since I already have those sockets, I will just go ahead and leave them for the next Blackhawk guy that's looking to complete a set. :)

Here are 3 flarenut wrenches I got when they cleaned out a storage crib while I worked at New Britain in the early 1970s. They were not made by New Britain as I headed a project to design flarenut wrenches and put them in production for New Britain while I worked there. These predate that effort.

I actually found a top chest in the wild here in Oregon! Was garage sailing today with my wife and I found this for $40. It is missing its medallion and a drawer but it’s pretty straight and not rusty! It’s been sprayed but it’s not horrible. Anyone have a drawer or medallion? Also is this a nugget box? I need to research this one. Also does it mean I’m a sick individual if I spotted this from 30’ away and knew it was Blackhawk 😂? Bas On this sticker it looks to be a caterpillar serviceman’s tool box?
