IH: nice find!! I'm guessing that won't be your travel toolbox left in your truck?

do you have the blackhawk tools to fill it or will you be heading to Twertsy's to see if he has an extra set?

i've seen one at a local sale and the guys were looking like it like it was a pole dancer so I knew it was above my little tool budget. maybe one day i'll find one full of tools where seller will take a vise in trade.

cheers

Don: you sure don't miss much!!

I have already placed an order with Twertsy's tool temple. The good news is that he has all or most of what I need to complete the 30-K set that lives inside this bomb box. He's also agreed to work something out with me so that's a welcome win.

My only challenge is finding something that Twertsy doesn't have AND finds interesting as a trade. This is far harder than you may think. He has literally everything.

Don: I had a good laugh at the 2 finger keyboard work you've been putting in the past few years. I learned to type in typing class in high school and had to type a ton of contracts for my job over the years so i'm maybe a bit better at typing than you, but I don't have the ability to find or buy most of the cool stuff you do.

even though you have a lot of stuff I bet you still have a WANT LIST that keeps you on hunt. yes?

Horse: well at least you know where the tools are and I bet finding Twertsy something he doesn't have, wants or needs is almost impossible. I hear him mentioning every now and then that he really wants a Plumb tool mobile which might be as hard to find as your torpedo.

good luck and hope you can make it happen. that said it would be the best carry box around but I doubt you'd put it in your truck to do your daily work.

Yea, I've watched that auction for a long time. He's too high plus those are the wrong nuggets. I need the ones with the tear drop handles.

I don't have a 'bomb' box to fill, but was thinking they would look great hung on the wall of my farm office, but at $329.99 + $95.94 shipping + $103.06 Import Charges It seemed a bit steep...

ALL: this old Blackhawk carry box is a beast and it was pretty heavy when I pulled it out from under one of my benches to see what i'd put in it. i'm usually not a fan of this style carry box cause tools usually go everywhere, but when you put a big set of Plumb inside it to keep things from moving around it's holding up just fine.

something about the BLACKHAWK logo i just love and not sure why, but I just do.

cheers

Sometimes you need a good religious experience when you can't find missing items for your 30-K nugget set. What do I mean? Well, if you have never made a pilgrimage to Twertsy's Tool Temple you're missing out on an experience.

First, let me say that his museum quality Blackhawk salesman sample is even more beautiful in person. So much so, I was afraid to even touch it. I felt like Indiana Jones gazing at the golden idol.

As if that wasn't enough, each time I go to the Tool Temple, he has even more impressive stuff than the last time. Did I mention you should go visit yet?

Thanks to Twertsy, I now have 26 of the 30 pieces for my bomb box. If anyone has any of the following and would consider turning them loose, I'm your Huckleberry!

35118 - 9/16th socket
35318 - 9/16th Long double hex socket
35326 - 13/16th Long double hex socket
35328 - 7/8th Long double hex socket

And of course, here is a picture of the box and its new friends.

Horse: are the blackhawks in the box in the picture some of the ones you had before you went to Twertsy's? quite a story and good to hear Mr. T is still alive and kicking cause I haven't seen him posting much on GJ lately.

BIG CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

also hope you didn't have to give a kidney or something more valuable.

Nope. As long as they are 7/16th drive nuggets I'm happy to have them.

I had just under half the nuggets already but Twertsy came to the rescue and got me almost across the finish line.

Twertsy is alive and well but like many of us here in the DC beltway region, he gets super busy at times and drops off the radar. Locals understand this behavior because it's a way of life.

Twertsy was more than fair when it came down to negotiations. I left the Tool Temple very happy.

That bomb box sure is nice Horse. I've only seen one ever in the wild, and probably should have bought it, but it had an antique shop price in a swap meet setting. This swivel grip extension is the only Blackhawk I've picked up lately. Ed.

Cleaning up the garage I rediscovered a whole bunch of tools I had long forgotten. Here's a probably 1st generation 1920ish Blackhawk DOE. Hard to find these stamped steel types with jaws this straight.

Looking to pick up this Blackhawk Master Mechanic Wrench Chest this weekend. It's just the box but it has the tray and looks like it would clean up pretty well. And it's $20. I haven't seen one like it elsewhere. Most that have the three small drawers on the left side also have two larger drawers on the right side bottom. This appears to be a different design.

Merc: it's amazing that the logo on that old Blackhawk box of yours has survived nicely all these years in an area that I think would rust or be hard on these old boxes.

the clean Blackhawk box like yours is another members I had saved a picture of. I also had a few catalog pages that might help you see if you are missing anything or give you a little more information.

The rusty dirty one is one I found a few years ago and I still need to spiff it up, but it's built like a tank.

nice find!!

Nice find on this BOX! You can't loose on that one. I have a similar style but I have seen more of them like yous around. You probably know this but the badge is brass and looks like it's been painted over. This makes a very handy toolbox.

Finally was able to meet up with the guy to get the $20 box. It's very dirty as it appears there were some critters living in it. Surprisingly there's no rust aside from some light surface rust. It's larger and heavier that I'd imagined. I'll probably clean it up and use it as is until I have more room and time to go through it.

I needed this behemoth like I need a second appendix but it was too close, too cheap and too cool to let go. Seller said it didn't work. I got it home, closed the pump valve and jacked up the back of my truck so it works fine. I recall it being discussed upthread that someone was going to attempt to make a 3D print of the lens. Did that puzzle ever get solved and if so, is there a source for reproduction lenses now? Thanks.
