......And make sure you wear clean underwear.
Why? Going to probably end up soiled. No need to do that to a fresh pair.

Looks like it is going to need a stronger roll cage.

I hope to never need one as well. Why? Going to probably end up soiled. No need to do that to a fresh pair.

My mother never told me to wear clean underwear but it was a rule in my wife's family -- you'll embarrass us if you show up in the emergency room with skid marks. Solved the problem for a while until she noticed my underwear was not showing up in the laundry. I recommend camo, brown or plaid if you insist on wearing underwear. And make sure you wear clean underwear.
I prefer to always start with a clean pair. What happened after that is out of my control.

Love the cart !! I look forward to seeing it done.. I think that this will need a video attached..
Maybe it is your chair, have you tried a sit/stand desk, or one of the ones with a treadmill? I don't remember the suspension being soft in this thing but it sure feels like it now. Maybe the seat won't be too bad.

Yup, that's my brother!Well **** JB, I step away for a moment and your thread goes to ****.
Most people out of state don't know in Oklahoma we keep out underwear clean for four days. I always turn mine inside out but when reversing them to get a fresh spot it's always a little uncomfortable.
You just call me fat and say I needed exercise??? Oh yeahI am I do.
I would be in great shape if a 96 year old man had not still been driving way after he should have been. He totaled 5 cars and most of my left side. Playing on the field in a car with a nice comfortable seat and full suspension nearly kills me.

I slacked last night, but I did get my new personalized plate in the mail for the S10:

Hi JB,
I finally made it to the end of this epic thread - you're a busy guy! I've greatly enjoyed seeing you knock out project after project in quick succession; nice work.
I love seeing all of the support and cameraderie on this site and your thread is full of it. I'm going to try to get a thread started about my disaster of a shop soon...
I love your kart project, but please consider adding a roll bar, seat belt, and hand restraints. We had a similar kart growing up and it was upside down more than once even with the stock motor (5 hp Briggs). I've run a racing kart with a 20 hp Yamaha 2 stroke engine and a slipper clutch a few times and it would get up to 75 mph pretty quickly. Yours is going to be a rocket in comparison![]()
I was able to find a new lid online but it was over $100.
Maybe tape is the way to go for now.
I'm waiting on sprockets and chain as well as a hub to mount the sprocket, a few misc. screws etc. There is still plenty of work left to do but little by little I'm getting there, started on the wiring which should be pretty straight forward since I'm reusing everything from the bike to a certain extent.
You need one 'a those blue bottles piped into the intakes, ya don't have enough go-go...
Geez, I think I'd put a restrictor on the throttle, that looks like something that could hurt-ya, quickly.
Are you going to use a solenoid for shifting? Is it a throttle-by-wire?
JB,
Long time lurker first time poster. First off, I have to thank Andy and his thread for the tie in to yours. I finally got a chance to read through your entire thread over the past few months and I have to say, your off the rails on the go-kart project......but im along for the ride.
I have a few sets of blue 4/5 point harness's left over from my familys corvette racing days. They are NEW but past certification by a handfull of years. In the interest of keeping you and this thread going......I'd be willing to donate a set to either the cobra or the kart. I'll be back in illinois next weekend going through my fathers garage ( which should be a thread in itself). PM me if your intersted and i'll get them out to you.
BTW, I plan on hitting HRPT in 21' w/ my son who will have his driving permit. It will start off in Madison (my alma mater). Plan is to drive the car back to Colorado after "the long haul" for some family autocrossing/roadracing.
I’m just here for the kart.

cool
In for there fun and games, just got caught up on the last 2 years worth of posts as I stepped away from lurking here... Wow. Some awesome projects and props to the dedication it takes to get this amount of stuff down with a family, I've got 1 toddler running around and can't imagine t hat many projects at once and making progress.
The kart looks super fun... Can't wait to see how that turns out!

Progress is Progress
Very true, sadly no progress today, I had to come into work for a few hours, maybe this afternoon if I get done in time.
JB
You interested in working on a Scout? I know your not that damn busy
you only have 8 things going on instead of 10.
Of course I didn't have a camera.
I'm glad you are to the current end and I'm impressed you kept reading, also thank you for posting. The cart (kart?) project has been a blast, sadly I haven't worked on it much the past few days it has gotten down to 14°F (-10°C) the past two nights and I've been working late again.
Great timing on the seat belts, I was just looking for some as the 3 points in it are questionable at best. I'll send a PM, thank you very much for the offer.
If you make the HRPT in '21 it'll be fun to catch up, I'll wait to see the route before I decide if I join on that one. The tough part for me is the last Sunday is Fathers Day and I hate not being home for that.
Thanks for tagging along Bighead, if I'm lucky my first post next week will be of me driving it. I'm still waiting on a sprocket the was shipped through DHL...I'm not a fan in the least.
I'm also investigating something that'll fit right in with the go kart but be way less powerful...
JB
Imagine how much we could get done if work didn't get in the way.
Hell yalYou interested in working on a Scout? I know your not that damn busy

I seen something cool today, at our Mc Donalds were 6 cool cars parked out in the street. One was a beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, One Lambo Countac (sp) One GT40, One GT40 race care with street tag, Sounded so awesome I almost had to smoke a cigarette, and a real AC cobra with no paint just bare aluminum. They all started up the same time and the AV gas from the GT 40 was so good smellingOf course I didn't have a camera.
That's exciting around here.![]()
JB: with all the regular work you do for your job to keep the bills paid i'm not sure how you have any time to work in your garage or do upkeep on your big property.
that said you do seem to get stuff done and one benefit of the job is that you can just get online and order most any new part you need.
the GO CART looks great and would love to see a youtube video of you or your family driving it.
I had to Google *********** and I can't un see that so not sure why you'd like to have that on your truck, but you said it was a mean joke so i'm sure you have your reasons.
hope you are having a great weekend.
I feel your pain with the shipping. I’m waiting on something from fedex that shipped last Thursday and they said would be here next Monday. The package is now an hour away in NJ and they updated the expected delivery to Friday this week. It better get here before then.
Ok I have to ask.. What is the status of the cobra engine build? I don't recall hearing about it after the shop told you it was still on the floor where you dropped it off??

I have a plug terminal coming this way.

JB, just how many projects do you have? I lost count.

I saw the car on FB. I need that to drive through my yard.
