You're further than me lol I still have to finish mine but, I also need to pull the 350 still lmao.
Well if the 350 still runs you are in good shape, hopefully you don't have as much fiddley stuff to track down and make work. This has been a lot more drawn out than I'd have hoped, but all part of it I guess. You're further than me lol I still have to finish mine but, I also need to pull the 350 still lmao.
I don't think I'll be able to get the entire race in on one tank, I should be able to do at least half of it, then will come in for a fill-up and a shot of water/Gatorade to help with the last half. If all goes well I should be done in under 90 minutes. That's a lot of laps JB! Maybe you better increase the gas tank size!
It runs, but is being pulled in favor of a newer 5.3L LS, and a stronger transmission(TH400 or 4L80e). I am leaning towards the TH400 as I already have a 3.42 rear end waiting for me to swap in and if I went with the 80E I'd have to re-gear differently(3.73 or 4.10).Well if the 350 still runs you are in good shape, hopefully you don't have as much fiddley stuff to track down and make work. Thank you Grizz, no time to rest, well unless I get too cold, I've decided working in the cold just isn't worth it right now. Hopefully we are past the worst of it now with some nice warm temps on the way.Busy

Busy man.
Progress all the way.
Well done
I remembered you were headed that direction, I personally love the 80e and with the OD gear in that and 3.42 gears you will get some decent mileage when on the highway, if I were to get new gears in my cobra they would be much closer to that than the 3.70's I have now.It runs, but is being pulled in favor of a newer 5.3L LS, and a stronger transmission(TH400 or 4L80e). I'm sure I'll feel like an old man by the time I get done with it, but most of the people racing are around my same age, a few younger and a few older. Family isn't tagging along for this one, but I'll have some of the other people there get some photos to hopefully share with ya'll.Mini bike race sounds like a young man’s sport but if you are up to it then I say go for it. Any chance your bride or daughters can shoot a few videos to post for us to watch.
Even though I can wire a house wiring a car has me shaking my head so hoping for the best in your adventure doing that.
A car is simple in comparison, power and ground, signal to relay etc. the computer side of the wiring was already done so my involvement has been pretty small really. Shorten here, lengthen there, tie this to that etc.

Thanks for reminding me of that @mybigwarwagon, I now have one more thing to look forward to.It is coming right along. You will be caught in a rainstorm with no roof in no time.
I'm leaning toward something on the welder went bad, it is 10 years old now as are all of the components. I have used it on new steel ground down to shiny metal and it was still doing it. I thought purge was too low, that didn't help, I don't use it often but will dig into it at some point to try to find out.I find that if the area prep is not good, it splatters more.
What about the actual steel you are welding, could it be the quality of the steel ?
Is the best way to do that to submerge the line in water while flowing gas to gun?MIG welder right?
Looks like gas isnt coming out of the gun, liner maybe?
What should that look like, the tips are threaded in, and the outer part of the tip (the part that fits around the tip about 1/8" or so making it ~1/2" diameter) has a push to seat that only lets it go so far. I'd like to think they made it idiot proof, but they may have found a big enough idiot.check gas flow and tip stickout. Sometimes the gas nozzles wear and tip is way out of gas envelope, then lots of spatter even with flow.
I have seen that before, I want to say I saw the price was going to be at or near 7 figures, I think I'll have to pass. There was a company selling CF bodies a while back, but I already had mine by the time I saw them. Now if someone hits my car in a parking lot and ruins the body I have some good ideas.JB,
you see this? i could only imagine the fun this would produce

Shelby Will Sell You an 800-HP Cobra With an 88-Pound Carbon Fiber Body for $1.2M
No, that's not a typo. All of the body panels weigh just 88 pounds combined.www.roadandtrack.com
I think it would be an absolute blast, but also need extra shorts to deal with it.800 HP is nuts enough in a standard bodied car - any car. In a lightweight car like a Cobra at ~2300 Lbs. hang on, have a lot of insurance and a significant budget for rear hoops. Factory Five bodies are between 150-200 Lbs. let's call it a 100 Lb. save. For comparison, a Mazda Miata tips in at 2341 Lbs. Complete tire liquefaction seems about right.
Sublimation, taking a solid directly to a gas...burning rubber. The ultimate tire recycler.

, glad it was just your visor and not the grey matter contained within the brain bucket! It was very cool, not too wild all around really, just some cool things going on. Just to make him feel a little better I did put it in 4wd, he was in a Rubicon though so I'm sure that hurt a bit.JB looks like a pretty wild time at the event! Pulling a Jeep out with HT tires...hope that didn't bruise their ego too much.
Wrecking as you get older makes you more cautious...takes longer to heal up, glad it was just your visor and not the grey matter contained within the brain bucket!
It was certainly a good time, I'm having a hard time not picking up a second mini bike to make into an all out race bike...but the cobra first.Excellent weekend by the looks of it.
With racer in your name I'd suspect so, no matter the race I just enjoy competing.I agree, wholeheartedly.
Me too @mybigwarwagon, me too. Someone I've met at other events was there with his mini and I asked why he wasn't racing, turns out since the last I'd seen him he'd gotten into an accident and now has a plate in his head.Looks like a blast. Glad you didn't mash your brain.

Amazon, it is a JQuad brand according to them, I'll post a link below. I'm not sure on the current length, when I get the new stock I'll try to remember to measure the difference between them. That PDB looks like the one I use on my builds. Did you get it from CE Auto Electric?
What is the length of pull with your current stock in the farthest position out?
Link PDBI also need to figure out a PDB for the truck, thanks for the visual on the one you use.
You know the feeling all too well I'm sure. I had it in my truck still, works great.Wiring………..
Nice camping chair.
What are you working on again, I can't remember. Weather is getting nicer and I really don't like the cold, progress would be great if I wasn't going to be out of state for so long.Looks like a fun weekend and you're making good progress on the wiring. Once I get some of the last clean-up projects from my shop build knocked out and some springtime chores done, I hope to get my project car moved over so I can get it running.
The engine swap and suspension overhaul on my Audi. What are you working on again, I can't remember.
Oh that's right, I should have looked at your thread to remind myself. Speaking of, if you change the wording on your thread link in your signature it'll make it easier to know what that it is your thread. I could just be old and slow on tech too.The engine swap and suspension overhaul on my Audi.
Good point, never thought of that. Done...just for you JB!Oh that's right, I should have looked at your thread to remind myself.
