Hey Dan, I'm trying to catch up on everyone's threads.

Here's a couple more for you Mark....

...Oh yeah, this was not being sold, it belonged to someone that attended the auction.

The color combo on that '36 coupe reminds me of my brother's '37 sedan...

(That's me *driving it - it was his wedding)

Edit - he sold the '37 about a year or two ago.
Another Edit - *car is RHD, I'm the one with the beard

ALL: cool car pictures

DLC: I owned a 1972 Dodge Coronet in 1983. it was my great aunt's car and I bought her 1963 Dodge Comet in 1972 for my first car. both cars were 10 years old and had 20,000 miles on it. both were so damn fast I hardly ever got a ticket in them and she just drove to the grocery store in them for their first 10 years.

if I remember right the Coronet had a 318 in it and the Comet was a little smaller car that I think had a 283. both automatics and fast.

hope all is well in your world

(Quoted from Lyndon's thread)...

...I've been a little busy here for the last couple of weeks and have had a hard time to be here on the GJ much. My step father passed away and we've been dealing with the likes of that. It was actually a blessing that it's happened. He wasn't well and it was taking a lot out of our mother.
...

Sorry to hear about your step-father Dan, but as you say it can lift a lot of burden from the family when they do go.

Both my parents had dementia for some years before they passed (the cards may not be stacked in my favour there :(), and although I experienced grief, it was also mixed with relief.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of your Step Dad.

Sometimes, as you say, it's a blessing, because they just need to go, either because they have some insufferable disease, or they just "want" to go. My FIL is just waiting to go. He lost his life's partner (my MIL) about 6 years ago, and is lost without her. Mind you, he is the most negative person you could imagine (he's nearly 90, came out of war torn Ukraine as a German Farm Labourer, and made it to Australia by the skin of his well worn knuckles, then built his own house by hand - so he's done the hard yards). But, I think, on his gravestone we are going to put - "See - I told you I was sick"...... :wtf: :( :wtf:

Thanks guys. Death is never an easy subject to discuss. But I'll say that there is a difference between a shocking death and one that has been coming for some time. And as I told my mum, "He hasn't been living for quite some time, just existing"

Those are some great pics 1/2 and Mark. I love old cars. Funny, but what we were driving back in the day are now "old" cars. My wife of 10 years younger, asks how we ever drove those things with the hood emblem crossing the city line 20 minutes before you do.:lol_hitti

Thanks for checking in. I have to get to work early this morning, so gotta go and start the grind.

I have nothing to say on that matter. Lyndon, they're a "safe" distance from your plates. Gerard, I'll never tell.

This thread took off like a bottle rocket! For some reason I got behind a few pages, it's probably this dang tapatalk app... I need to get to the computer sometime and see what all I've missed.

Anyways, you'll have some more things to hang on that wall very soon my friend and btw, I will be calling you later today with an update. Been up all night ripping and tearing!

My apologies for being late to the party but I'm here.

The only thing I have to give up is down in the Tampa area.

Shorty, thanks for stopping in. I've always said: "Better late than never" I don't have a lot to add but you guys have become some great "cyber" friends. I'll be looking forward to actually meeting up with you some day. And I hope it isn't too far away. I might just have to plan a trip to Florida this coming winter. (No way am I going there in the summer)

I knew there was something I was supposed to look for. :headscrat

It's funny how things change as you get older - these days, the term "getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I went in there for. :lol_hitti

Mark, thanks for stopping by. Yes "the golden years" have taken on a whole new meaning. As my MIL says, the only thing golden is your pee.

I've got some new snaps to post but my phone camera is not cooperating tonight. So if you get a chance to stop by later, check it out. I hope you have a great day as I know it's getting late for me but you're just into the early morning.

I found a new lawn ornament. I think it's really cool, it's an old horse drawn mower.

I'll get some better pictures of it later.

Getting lucky for me is remembering someone's name, that's why I use initials AU ( pronounced "ey you"). Its like to day I was on a good day. I was talking to a lady in a shop and having a conversation for about 5 minutes and then I could sense that she didn't remember me, so I called her "cutie", all of a sudden she remembers me, her 12 month older sister and I went to school together about nearly 39 years ago. Did she start to laugh then.

AU, thanks for stopping by. Yep...40th class reunion for me this year. Where did the time go. :dunno: In the words of Jerry Garcia, "What a long strange trip it's been"

Glad you updated your thread. I've been checking daily wondering when you'd find the time.

I ripped the old top off the Delta this week getting ready to install the new one.

20160524_053816.jpg

That was the easy part. I think I may have bit off more than I can chew. The very back bow is a bit tricky to attach the top to and get it back in place. I think you need to be a contortionist.:headscrat

Yep CB, And he just texted me and said he had just finished them and was taking a nap and then getting them boxed up and sent out. Man I've got a lot of work to do all of a sudden. And I haven't even finished with the carpets yet.

Lyndon, Ace!.She'll be apples. But I'll never convince her it grew there.:lol_hittin:

We are gonna to install a webcam with a speaker system to communicate with you to make sure you aren't slacking off. Could you imagine that.... 20 plus times a day hearing " step away from the fishnets" and " put that away before you go blind".

You should use that seat from the lawn art for a seat in the shop, those are actually fairly comfy.

The delta now looks like a medieval torture device, I am guessing installing the top may feel like one too.

Sorry...I don't know how to rotate the pic....anyhoo

This cam system could be a real shocker for Dan, since his buddy Pines has just confessed to using his "tools" while naked and talking to us here.

Dan, on another note, have room for beer bottle caps on your wall as Shorty and I discussed on my thread?

I just shot chocolate milk all over the monitor. In my head it was The Central Scrutinizer's voice over a loud speaker -- you guys are hysterical!!

I'm happy to know the lacy addition is being taken in the spirit it was intended, purely in fun and enjoyment with friends. << curtsey >> I plan to contribute something else too (but still getting another batch made).

I'm off -- another electrical storm is rolling in. Love you guys muahhhhh

When I worked at a body shop one of our workers accidentally broke the glass window in the top. Talk about a pain to get replaced.
