While I probably wouldn't buy pipe wrenches from Snap On either, saying that Ridgid are the only ones worth anything is shortsighted. Reed pipe tools are easily the equal or better of Ridgid. There are a couple of other good ones out there too.Pipe wrenches.

The admission you've been buying the few items you feel are worth the premium from feebay pretty much proves my point. Don't see you buying from a truck anytime soon.
I'd also like to see the packing slips that came with those drop shipped ebay tools.............................
By the way, Chadster said there were many examples of Sears not honoring warranties. If that's the case, I just asked for proof. If you don't want to provide proof, then don't make the statement (not you, but Altec).

Just use the Search function, Its obvious you already know how. Its not worth my time to try and find them (I KNOW there are MULTIPLE threads concerning Sears and Warranty issues, Ive been around here too long) If it makes you sleep better at night thinking that Sears is Perfect than enjoy it. I would also love to see the Ebay items (Invoice) that you purchased that were invoiced from Snap on to YOU..
No tool company is Perfect in regards to Warranty service, Not Sears, Not Snap On, Not Matco, Not Cornwell, Not Mac, Not HF etc.... But i will say there are Hundereds of document cases where Snap on has went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of Members here. I cleary remember a member ArkAngel06 who had a Snap On ratchet from his Grandfather, It started skipping etc.. He Called Snap On and explained the sitsuation on how he wanted it fixed but didnt want to Lose it and within a couple days he had a brand new ratchet at his doorstep. Never sent the Old one in etc... Can you call up Sears and have them send you something with Proof of Ownership? Didnt Think So... And dont take this as a Sears Bashing, I own alot of Craftman tools, It was the first tool set i bought.

The following is a post from The Consumerist:
Earlier this month, we noted how a reader was having trouble getting Sears to properly honor the lifetime warranty on his Craftsman tools. Now David Figler, a vice president of the company, has responded and said, "We stand behind the warranty—complete satisfaction—period." Below is his email, and a portion of the memo he sent to Sears stores on the matter.
I work at Sears Holdings to develop and promote Craftsman tools. I am sorry to hear that we did not get it right the first time Brian visited his Sears store for a Warranty exchange on Craftsman tools. Unfortunately, we do not always get 100% execution from all our associates on our warranty exchanges, although we are always striving towards it.
In response to your column, I have worked internally to be explicit on the issues pointed out to make sure we do not disappoint again. Craftsman tools have a heritage of performance and trust. I want to assure you and your readers we stand behind the warranty – complete satisfaction – period. Though disappointed with Brian's experience, I'm grateful that I could learn of it and take steps to prevent a similar mistake in our stores for the next customer. An excerpt from the internal communication to our store associates is below.
Subject: Craftsman Hand Tool Lifetime Warranty
There have been several news articles and emails regarding customers being denied Craftsman Hand Tool exchanges for reasons that are not part of the warranty. We've had specific complaints of denied exchanges based on:
- Tools having rust on them
- A 3 Piece per day limit on exchanges
These are NOT valid reasons for denying our customers their right to exchange their Craftsman Tools under the Lifetime Warranty.
The warranty states: "If for any reason your Craftsman hand tool ever fails to provide complete satisfaction, return it to any Sears store or other Craftsman outlet in the United States for free repair or replacement. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state."
Our Craftsman Hand Tool Lifetime Warranty is one of the most important competitive advantages we have in the market. It is crucial that we ensure all of our sales associates are trained to understand all the hand tools that are covered under this warranty.
..........The box said Snap-On, the shipping address had my address on it right from the Snap-On factory/distributor. In fact I do still have one of the boxes, so why do you say "I would love to see the eBay items (invoice) that you purchased?"
Not sure why this is such a shock. You can order Snap-On tools online, right? Well, if you can order Snap-On tools online, then someone selling on eBay can order the tool online and have it shipped to your house. Right? Why is this such a shock? That 1/2" Dual 80 ratchet retails for about $200... you can go to Harbor Freight and buy a polished 1/2" ratchet for less than it would cost on tax and shipping for the Snap-On. And, in addition, any HF store will honor the lifetime guarantee on an HF ratchet. HF polished ratchets sell for less than $20
Post a pic of the shipping label of that box. Blur out your address, I just want to see the return address.
Chad it probably just had the original UPS shipping sticker from Snap on to the Seller on Ebay.

... you have the inconvenience of having to ship it back to Snap-On and pay for shipping .....:
Oh... and one last thing, please do not be a tool snob. I did buy genuine American Made Snap-On tools (expensive ones at that). I never argued that HF was the *same* as SO... if that's the case, then why would I pay many multiples more for genuine SO? My point was that it is easy to warranty and I just exchanged a hand tool set at HF and they just gave me a new one w/o a receipt, so not sure what policy you are referencing.
snap-on does not have a distribution center in wisconsin.
Did you Warranty them because they were Dirty? LMAO.... I should just follow my own signature sometimes.

That warranty was taken from the HF website. Just like Snap-On, the warranty handling is different at the truck than it is over the web. I can tell you that if you buy at the store, the products say lifetime warranty...period. No receipt needed... and I didn't have one.

socks
there socks are nice.. got several free pair, and the wife some pink ones when i purchased by krl
Snap-on does not have a distribution center in Wisconsin.

You aren't by chance confined to a wheelchair are you? You remind me of another poster who used to post around here under another Mr name.

I've got to get me some of these socks everyone raves about...
Harbor freight socks are just as good and cheaper.
You get those when you buy a SO "Mr. Big" box.Do they make SO socks that'll fit a US 16 shoe size?

The best part of snap on screw drivers (for me) is that you can put a wrench on them for more torque. (You have to lean into the screwdriver and make sure you get a good bite before you start putting a wrench on it obviously). Harbor freight socks are just as good and cheaper.
