Tiling, how tough are tiles?

My 4 year old floor paint has suffered badly, probably due to poor preparation although I would have expected it to stand up to petrol spills without softening and wrinkling! It sticks to my tyres very well, but not the floor!
So I have been considering tiling the floor after looking at many gorgeous garages on this forum. My question how well do tiles, both hard and vinyl (or whatever the plastic ones are made of) cope with axle stands, trolleys jack, engine stands, tool box wheels etc? Would not the high pressure under the wheels of your engine crane not be enough to crack a porcelain tile when lifting an engine off a chassis?

I have PEI 4 porcelain tiles. No issue with jacks, stands, dropped tools ( I do cring everytime I drop something), etc.
No experience with studded tires, but I could not imagine them cracking a tile.

How tough are tiles?..........How big are trees?

Some tiles are tough, some aren't. Most home grade tiles won't stand up to hard garage use. I have seen industrial tiles that are soft enough that you can't break them with heavy things set on them, but they will dent easily from heavy loads.

My tiles are home grade. They are managing fine with heavy garage abuse. I'm one of those people that would rather drag **** across the floor than go get the dolly or hand-truck.

And if you search for one of Jacks threads, he has a vid of him trying to break his cheapo ceramic tiles with a mini sledge. The Camera jumps up from every hit, but he doesn't even break the tiles in the vid. He manages to break it off camera.

So if you don't have voids under the tile, it will be pretty damn strong.

porcelain tiles are harder than ceramic, and are generally good enough for light fork truck traffic.

industrial porcelains are even harder and can withstand heavy forklift traffic.

meaning, they'll take more abuse than most people can dish out.

ceramic tiles will vary based on their thickness, but they should be as equally durable as a well done poured epoxy floor.

I have the same tile as Jack and just yesterday I dropped a 3lb cast iron piece on it from 40". No issues, but it sure did bounce! The part bounced, not the floor. :D

his floor is magic, and it raises, he places stands under, then the floor lowers. Not joking.
