Pretty nice truck. Lots of effort, very impressive.

As far as the pictures go, odds are that your white balance is off from the shop lighting. If you shoot with a grey card, it can be fixed later easily.

Color is pretty close now. Have messed with WB quite a bit.
Still experimenting with lighting and color, camera settings. I can get pretty close color with cell phone but quality not as good.

Now the question lingers. Was it worth it? Satisfaction to have it looking better and now back on the road. But would I ever do another 67-72 Truck? Absolutely not if it was me footing the bill. I do enjoy doing it but not at a losing $$ type deal as I do not feel I need any more "Practice".

If I could take those hours back and put them in my '66 427 Project and have it COMPLETE and the remaining bunch of hours left over could have my EcoBoost truck well on its way maybe even running.

I would not do another on my dime if the truck was FREE. It will make a very nice truck for someone else at my expense. Something I can surely not afford to do at this point in my life.

Once I started I did not want to "give up" abandon the project. So if anyone is looking for a nice '70 Ranger . . . I have found something else I would rather have.

I still need to add the wipers, do a complete detail getting all the finger prints and smudges off, I really want to put the original rims back on with stock hubcaps. Do some fine tuning. A lot of work left to do but at least now I can drive it in and out of shop on its own power and no longer have this HUGE pile of parts taking up space.

If that truck lived here, I wouldn't be painting the Air cleaner, I'd be replacing floors,torque boxes, door sills, door bottoms, lower cab corners, bed sides, bed, tail gate.......

Come to think of it - there's one in my project thread where I did all that!

Here in AZ we take a splash of Magic Soap give a bit of spray then wipe out with a soft cloth. (inside of box of course)

Took 15-20 Minutes and this is result. Maybe I should get out the wax?

I mentioned in another post its not that simple to do. Its one of those things you have to
"know" about. California emissions regulations. Do not think you will ever see it advertised anywhere. I currently have approx 20 gallons of it in different forms multiply that x 3-10
Because of shipping costs I buy a partial pallet at a time.

I asked quite a few posts back for those interested to contact me and know one responded.

Its not that simple to say mix 2 parts x with 1 part B.

As I mentioned earlier I have been using it for well over 20yrs now & keep enough on hand where I do not run out. So the "mix" really depends on what I am cleaning.

There were 4 different parts I used to mix now I think the gobernment has put a crimp in one of them. 1 of them can be shipped by ups the other has to go truck freight.

The reason I asked prior to those interested to contact me Is I had a chart in area's it was avail.

I have purchased from a Place in Seattle and also a Place in California.

I searched for a few minutes now and have misplaced the chart, I had it in hand a few weeks ago.

I am not holding out to hold out giving the info its just not that simple as with searches it does not exist. So its secret in more ways than one. What I mix is not something you can buy. Maybe I should call it Non Existent Magic Soap.

After well over 20yrs of using the stuff when I see something I know what mix is needed. That experience is hard to put in words from someone who flunked english.

Give me a part or Item and I can show you how to clean it . . . Understand?

I guess I did not explain this well prior or even now for that matter.

Give me a for instance & I can tell you what parts to mix. Not only does the Mix change but the strength also changes.

The warmer~hotter it is the better it works.

For cleaning painted surfaces: Versa-Clean Mixed with Upholstery cleaner unless you have big kahuna's then use Versa & whitewall cleaner.

There is one mix that is kind of a works on anything as long as it does not sit too long, if its too warm and it dries on a painted surface it will . . . .

Enough mumbo jumbo. My brain does not allow me to explain it much better than that as too many variables.

I also have it in Gallons

Its one of those trade secrets very few people who are aware of the cleaners talk about.

I am not sure anyone else mixes them like I do.

For what I can clean or "save" its pretty much invaluable to me.

There are parts and items I thought I would have to replace~throw away and the "Magic Soap" has saved the day time and time again.

Did anyone notice the wiring harnesses on this '70 before and after? About the only thing on entire truck that I will not clean with it is chromed plastic.

Just yesterday I found another liquid I have been using for something else and realized the cleaning potential. Evapo-Rust is another useful tool for cleaning as long as its rinsed properly.

Like anything mis-use is no good either if one keeps something in the evapo too long it will turn black and ruin or at least shorten the life of the evapo. Most things only a few hours time is needed. Some things just minutes.


Here are a couple items with just a few minutes in the "bath".

Note: it did not hurt the paper tag, wires or anodizing if submerged for just a few minutes.
If you leave it over night it will turn item BLACK and "kill" the mix.

Also not color diff in hood and firewall. THat was easy peasy with the "Magic Soap"
Very little elbow grease needed.

How about the diff in hood hinges?

A/C Compressor & CLutch

Distributor?

Upper Radiator hose, coil bracket, starter relay and more.

When one does a "Google" or other search little to nothing shows up for the soaps I mix.

I did have a link but can no longer find it, in process of shoveling out garage to organize and a line sheet is in one of these bins.

I will update when I can.

The mix is 2 of the 3 soaps I posted pics of

337 is the White Wall cleaner

221 is the Versa-Clean

123 is the Leather and Plastic Cleaner

for strongest cleaning action use the 337 & 221 equal parts of each then add
2x that amount of water. Preferable HOT water to spray bottle.

This is if you have heavy amount of grease~dirt. Tire sidewalls etc
You can do 3-4x the water to mixed 337 & 221 for cleaning other items

For Upholstery, vinyl ~ cloth seats above can be used or mix with the 123 Upholstery and vinyl cleaner.

I had a MAJOR ink stain on carpet in my truck, I sprayed mix onto a micro-fibre towel and held it on stain for approx 10-15 seconds. It sucked up the stain then a little wipe and it was 100% gone.

I use it to maintain my daily driver 2002 F250 7.3L
After nearly 140k miles it looks to as close to new as one could imagine and I am not so easy on it. Maybe 2x per year I give it a detail. Now due again but little time.

I had a location by ZIP code so others could buy the product when I first asked. When I find that again I will let all know.

A lot of people say you should not wash a engine, I have now for 8yrs a minimum of once per year. It looks great. Inside of box looks close to new.
And yes when I need to haul something this is all I have.

Having a steam cleaner pressure washer is also a must for best results for those nooks and crannies where you just cannot reach.

I think by far the best brand going is HOTSY. I have owned one since 1988

1977 Suburban a friend picked up for 1500.00 ZERO painting, used Magic Soap & Magic Buff methods. Looked like a complete different vehicle. Spent one full day on it.

Its now in Germany!

Yes, He made MAJOR $$ on this one.

Some of these pics were before final cleaning. Obviously tires and wheels for one. Most of time spent was interior

I have cleaned seat belts with the Magic Soap for well over 20yrs.

Lay belt on ground spray with magic wait 20 seconds and rinse off with pressure washer, the old stiff and ugly belt is now like new.

Our 1987 Crown Vic we put 150k miles on. This is what It looked like when we sold it.

Kept complete car clean with a once every couple years or so top to bottom clean job and yes that carpet looked ruined prior to cleaning

Time Warp, I've tried to find the Magic Soap ingredients on-line. You're right, nothing comes up. Ive googled Beauty Shine, and the product numbers with no luck. Anybody else found them?

Maybe we should call it the Does Not Exist Soap? LOL

I am working on trying to resolve that issue.

Now working on the largest project I have worked on in a long time . . .

Trying to get my garage organized!

Seeing as though nuts bolts and hardware from the many FoMoCO products I have parted out for last 30yrs never got thrown away. So its cleaning and organizing time as when I try to find something I know its on the property but where . . .

I have bins and bins of paperwork, books, magazines from the last 4 moves and more also.

I still have the 53' Semi Trailer with shelving that has never been emptied from the last 3 moves.

Time to start selling off things I do not need.

So, when I get an extra minute or so I will find the proper link.

I have 20 gallons of soap to mix but cannot be shipped by UPS. It will have to be found in your area.

If anyone thinks they will use amounts I do then it can go truck freight for approx 150.00 shipping charge across the country.

In these pics it had just under 100k miles

A towing Monster it was. It moved me across the country

Not sure what it is about Magic Soap and leather interiors if maintained properly.

When people would see the interiors on these vehicles they would think they were new. When I would point to the odometer and it being 100k or more miles . .

If I were a marketing person I would market this stuff . . .

I had a 1994 BMW 740i with the same color interior and I was NEVER able to get it clean like that either with home remedies or professional cleaning.

-BTW...did you get the F250 to the show on time? Is it now for sale?

I did make it to show but was about over by the time I got there.

Thought I told the story but guess not:

Plan was to get there around noon at the latest to get a good spot. 1000+ cars will show up that weekend.

There was just a lot to do yet. Had a couple friends helping.

Never had a chance to get it completely ready to go but once it started and ran for the first time . .

It was probably 3 or 4 pm in the afternoon before I started it for first time.

Usually when I hit the key for first time a project fires right up but in this case I had removed the gas tank behind seat and re-soldered the pickup tube, tank was bone dry from steam cleaning it.

I put a dash of gas in carb and it fired instant but of course would not stay running. Between the fuel selector being in wrong position and not allowing fuel from tank I was trying to use and also (once that was handled) the fuel pump would not prime itself no matter how much fuel i kept adding to carb.

I finally pulled line from bottom of selector valve and put air in tank with line off at fuel pump. That did the trick.

Took it around block for initial test drive and by then when I got back the truck would not turn over. All that cranking on a battery that was never charged in the first place made it low not to mention the fact the charging system was not working.

It took a bit before I found the field wire was broken inside of harness at alternator.

By then a lot of time rolled by. We then headed out to the show approx 22 miles each way. No tuning no nothing just got in and DROVE!

About the time I got to destination the headlights started to blink on and off.
Dimmer switch was acting up . . . When I pulled into the lot and was about to back up the clutch went to floor . . . Did not hit anything in the very close quarters but had to be bailed out by another forum member . .

So a bit of drama but with no real testing etc it was just getting it there.
When we pulled in people were already leaving.

Yes, Truck is for sale. Still need to do a few things, a bit more cleaning and detailing.

This week is shovel out garage week as it gets beyond messy when I have a deadline to make and It has never been organized since I moved in.
So I have not done anything to truck since Saturday. Other than clean inside of box.

In my "SPARE" time I am sorting through pics on my computer that directly relate to what I post here. I just added them all up and its 14,814 photo's to deal with. Trying to upload to photobucket etc

I have a friend out of state with a Expedition & Leather Interior.
His JOB is a mobile detailer & has been doing it for years even working for manufacturers detailing veh going into different shows.

lets just say his personal car interior he could not get clean no matter what he used and had actual wear spots trying to scrub.

10-15 seconds with a touch of MAGIC~ And it was clean! It was a dark blue leather . .

If used wrong tho it could be a disaster, thru trial and error I have learned how to mix, which soaps and how much to dilute.

I was asked by PPG if I they could use it as a PPG display vehicle.

Time to move on from this one. Once again lost my shorts but another not so much of a Project has been found. Details as it happens. A lifelong dream vehicle is about to be acquired . . Stay tuned . . And no I can never leave well enough alone. BIG plans for new project too. Will need a bit of help with how I should go about it. Kind of have a picture in my head but will see how it all works out.

I am interested in magic soap. I guess they don't advertise what they would have trouble shipping. I am in upstateNY and wonder if anyone within driving distance would be interested in going in on a shipment?
Timewarp, if you ever find your formula sheet and what you use it on, I'd be interested in it.
