I'm deciding on the Hazet 856-1 1/4" socket and bit set in "Smart Case".

Can someone that speaks German please translate this review? I know the gist of it via Google Translate but the translation is not accurate. I'm only concerned by the following paragraph:

Also, I know many of you own the Hazet 856-1, what are your thoughts on them after using for a while?

Here is the text of the customers:

He is satisfied with the tool, but not with the Smart Case. The bits constantly falling out of their holders and after two years a piece of the of the holder are broken. Furthermore, a spring, which prepares the holder when open, broken too.
My personal opinion is that the bits fall out when yyou carrying the box. But otherwise everything is fine. For that problem the socket set Hazet 853-1 is the better choice and constitutes the same tools.

It would appear that the case is not durable, what a pity the case is the most noteworthy feature!

That is true. The only reason why you should buy the socket set 856-1 is because it is cheaper :). The 853-1 with the insert form is (and that is my opinion) the better quality even if the set does not have the feature as the 856-1

Schroder ratcheting tool holder/tap wrench (M5-M12)

Nice Schroder (? Schroeder if sans umlaut ) Monte. I tried to order 9 Schroder tap wrenches ( plus another 10 or so items) from werkzeug-preuver just 2 weeks ago; contacted them twice they haven't bothered to reply.

Where did you source yours?

This happens often to me when I open my Smart Case. (see photo). I had a lot of these Socket boxes in my hands and it is unfortunately often if you use the case regular, the bits fall out. For me - and this is my personal opinion - it is not a problem.

Some arrivals today; very nice Hazet ( thanks Michael)

Curiously, members of each set stamped with either Germany or Made in Germany. Even the smallest manages 'Made in Germany', so if there was ever any argument for size being a limitation to clear COO stamping, it is null and void to my way of thinking.

Sorry I didn't read properly!

Not had the Hazet Smartcase as the Facom equivalent is available sometimes for half the price. I have the Facom set in the the thermoformed case and that has survived 10 years in my toolbag and plenty of use.

Like you, I don't have a problem with the bits falling out but the Amazon reviewer mentioned about the case itself going kaput?

That's why I like the older socket boxes out of metal. The 3/8 metal box I have from Hazet unfortunately does have a plastic insert for the sockets. Over time the plastic can become brittle and crack.

Mine however is still in good shape

The red Wisent (China or Taiwan) socket box from the Bauhaus.

Robust metal case and foam inlay…… perfect !

I have only replaced some tools with better ones. :)

Has anybody experiences with the Bahco 11M (long version) combination wrenches…maybe a few pics ?

The prices for a 8pcs. set here in Germany are far beyond good and evil !

The smart case is more a convenience of being able to carry in the smallest possible size. (it will fit in a large pocket)
When you go to open it, you have to be careful to avoid a bunch of things falling out all over the place.
If I were to be using the tools all the time, then the 853-1 is much nicer to use.

It really depends on what you need them for.

The new detection boxes are more robust (metallic clasps & hinge pins) with excellent design. You can buy just the boxes ($35-40ea) and move the tools from your old sets or modules.

Local diesel shop asked me to fix Quantum drill press.

It appears to come from Germany but I think it originates from Asia.
I took a peek into the gearbox and saw plenty of nylon/plastic gears broken.
I have sent few emails to sellers in Germany asking for part-list /parts but I get no response.

Can any of you gentlemen direct me to a place where I can get spare parts for Quantum drill press?

Sorry for the off-topic. :(

I'm a bit in doubt about upgrades my standard pliers (side cutting, combination and needle-nose).
Isn't there a recent comparison test/review available somewhere online?
The brands I'm interested in are: Knipex, Stahlwille, Hazet, NWS. These seem to me the obvious high end brands for pliers to chose from.
Knipex seems one of the best (I have the pliers wrench).
Stahlwille also cannot be bad, but is pretty expensive (and might not be better?).
Hazet I already have a lot of (own the 2014 pliers) and from
NWS I have a VDE stripping pliers.
Gedore or Wiha could be an option, but I probably prefer the others above these.

Schröder/Schroeder/Schroder depends on where you are from and if your monitor can display a "o" with 2 dots :);)

i special ordered it through a local dealer.

Well, yes... but I don't want to buy only Hazet because of the brand. I like to try and own some other good or even better brands also.
Thanks for the link! Considering the testresults and the price I can get a 3-piece set for, it probably is going to be Knipex.. :bounce:
