Yes, very much so. Thanks for sharing, we don't see enough Beta here

Wilpu recip saw blades for soft materials:

Very cool blade Monte, I have always enjoyed your tool posts over the years; please keep it up!

Guys, I've read a lot of good kobalt reviews. Who uses these tools? Is it worth buying?

Huh, Kobalt is from the old world? :dunno:

I know KOBALT here in the states as the in house brand for LOWES

Masaden,

As "macgee" mentioned above, the "Tools of the Old World" is a thread to discuss tools of Europe, Russia, and Africa.

To answer your question, here are Google search quotes of past Garage Journal threads that discusses Kobalt tools: "site:garagejournal.com" "kobalt tools" .

Just open another browser tab pointed to Google.com; do a search by copying and pasting the above quotes into the Google search box; and you are good to go.

Good luck,

Dave

Anyone recognize this logo? It is on a 30mm-24mm doe wrench. Looks like a W / B with a triangle in between the 2 letters. It is stamped 'Germany' as well. My attempts with Google have been unsuccessful.

Recently, I got such a ratchet. The search for information yielded many and few at the same time. The company itself is not enough. But the quality turned out to be very even. Here is such a ratchet of Honiton possible from Taiwan. Who can tell more about this tool and company?

Thanks.

WGB Werkzeuge, still around with a new logo. But just in name, they're not a German manufacturer any more.

Recent purchases.

IMG-2848.jpg

Facom 10X100 T-handle.

IMG-2871.jpg

IMG-2859.jpg

Not what I bought it for, but it's a good size for tripod mounts.

IMG-20210126-113558.jpg

Brunel asked a few posts back about hard handle screwdrivers available in the UK. Facom is an option.

yje5t76ur7ur7u.png

Hallmark long handle ratchet spanner.

IMG-2885.jpg

Expert reversible ratchet spanner.

IMG-2890.jpg

Length compared to the above Hallmark.

IMG-2880.jpg

I'm in the market for some reversible ratchet spanners. Will not use them enough to be worth shelling out for a full set of quality spanners, so looking around to see if there is any cheap, but good enough options.

Superficial comparison to Facom.

IMG-2896.jpg

Facom looks and feels quite a bit 'nicer' quality overall. Expert has less backdrag. The I-beam on the Facom makes for slightly wider and more comfortable edges. Facom has more features.

Ridge in the open end.

IMG-2925.jpg

Ring in the ring end that prevents slipping over bolt heads + holds nuts.

IMG-2934.jpg

IMG-2936.jpg

Direct from China ratcheting screwdriver.

IMG-2946-2.jpg

Felo up front.

IMG-2949.jpg

IMG-2956.jpg

PB at the back. :)

IMG-2953.jpg

512QRN 1/2" ratchet. A seller on UK eBay has been selling these, one at a time for months. They sell for £25-30. Couldn't resist after a while.

Very high backdrag on this one, even after reassembling. I have the 1/4" and 3/8" which have very light backdrag. Have read mixed reports on this which makes me think that Stahlwille are not consistent in this regard.

Anyone have these Gedore soft caps for their Engineers hammer? They appear to be discontinued, but I did find them for sale on Zoro.

I'd be interested in your feedback. Thanks!

Yes, I’ve got a couple. Mine were “Habero” branded, but same thing.

They are actually quite a good idea for a hammer that’s in a mobile kit or road box, as it reduces the number of heavy tools you have to carry.

In practice, I don’t find them easy to slip on and off regularly, so o.k. for a set of emergency tools, but I use my road box so often now I use separate hammers

AliExpress now adds VAT for UK buyers, so it's not as much fun as it used to be. :(

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but it's difficult to pry the plastic backplates off Stahlwille ratchets without damaging them. I've found that you can use a pliers wrench to open them up much easier. Short vid for anyone who has a QR N.

I didn’t know the QR N’s had plastic backplates. That’s pretty ****!

Yeah, I would prefer a metal plate with screws. It's a FOD ratchet though. I guess the only alternative is a metal plate with rivets that you cannot rebuild.

Wish they made a non-FOD version.

Edit, you have one, don't you? A 1/4" or bit ratchet with a metal handle.

I found this Bahco double-ender adjustable/alligator wrench this morning with a rather unfortunate 90* angle bend in it. Forged-in markings are V-STEEL, 8", 31, MADE IN SWEDEN on one side, and AB BAHCO STOCKHOLM on the other, with a smaller VOLVO near the thumbscrew. Does anyone know when it was made? Also, is my deduction that it was in a Volvo car kit correct?
Yup, part of Volvo tool kit from '60s '70s IIRC It probably goes back further in time
I have one that is not bent and in very decent shape

:hellobye: Monte!

I got the exact same brush set, but I envy yours since it comes in a much nicer case.
Time to buy another set just for the case :D

Snap-on cordless tool! :willy_nil... brand new or used?
Brand sparkling new off the Truck :pimpflash:D:eyecrazy::yikes::shocking:
Sorry for the off-topic pic :) :D On the other hand it´s "Assembled in USA with US and foreign components" ....maybe some "foreign components" are from the old world....
I also could almost swear that Metabo might have something to do with the saw....

I like that hex shank brush set, I could use a set of them.

I’m thinking they don’t need to use plastic to make a non - FOD version, Hazet manage with a circlip.

Yes, I have the older bit ratchet with the standard handle (metal backplate) and the “N” version with the short handle. I hadn’t picked up on the plastic backplate.

All my other Stahlwille ratchets are bigger, but older.
