Hello mrtools and welcome. Nice little collection of tools you have.
May I ask what brand that ratchet is? I feel I have seen it before but I can't place it.
Also, what brands are your sockets and wrenches?

Edit: wrenches looks like Heyco.

And don't be shy of posting more pictures of your tools. We love pictures.

Hello..im from malaysia...im very new here...so nice too know u all,
here i would to share my small tools collection.....

Hello !
welcome to the forum ! Very nice tool collection !
Pics please of the Heyco wrenches + Wiha stuff :)

I must show off one of my prize tools from the Fatherland (Germany). Bought it maybe 15 years ago $$$$, used it a couple of times.Bought every optional adapter possible. Makes a record copy of compression reading on a small card. Frank

nice Motometer tester ! :thumbup::bowdown:

I would say the same and take the 11.000 model, but I guess that they didn't "design" a slightly different model just give me headache with choice, it may be more appropriate for something, I wonder what?

Maybe we have a answer from Bosch this week...
if not, 11.000 RPM...

You mean the handle or the jaws?
I took the 90° straight jaws like this:

ah ok !

New Facom electronics are most of the time imports, I don't know if even their multimeters still produced by Chauvin-Arnoux...
The small JMP seems okay for the price, for bigger units I would feel more comfortable buying a well-known brand of the field such as C-tek or Tecmate...

I´ll check the JMP units in May at their fair/exhibition (COO,Features etc.) If Facom offers them can´t be bad :) ;) They only have the good stuff :D

Really :wtf:, so it means that you may be human?
I've always thought that you had been sent on earth by a superior being to enlighten us in our tool quest...
Or at least that you escaped from a secret Gedore research center where you were part of super-wrencher training program :D
So, I'm really surprised that you don't know about them :headscrat

haha :D yes I´m from the planet Krypton :D Superman is my little brother :D

yeaaaaaaahhhhhh belgian battery charger company..... :D come one :D ;)

Thanks! I wonder a bit about shipping, Switzerland is kind of "oversea" in term of shipping costs. These service are not cheap, I wonder if closed cell PE foam is that expensive, machining does not require expensive machinery... Maybe it's cheaper if you directly send them the CAD file, I should ask!
Actually in my mind I'm already on the way to mill them myself, it's another good reason to build a biggest router, now that I have some space!

yeah that´s unfortunately right....no EU... high shipping and tax(?)...
How dou you scan the tool size/shape into the computer ? If you build a small mill with your Kress tool you could make like 3 inserts instead one big , should work too huh ?? Start your own business... :)

"Garage Journal Foam co." :)

Unfortunately my router has a workspace of 300mmx400mm, I would have to make a lot of separate pieces :D
Anyway I have plans since a long time to build a bigger one (1500x2500), a basic unit for 2D cuts in panels (wood and aluminum), but 3D cuts in Foam (in this case a very fake 3D) shouldn't be a problem. It's just that I think I've seen somewhere that a trick to have a clean cut while machining foam was to put them in a freezer before, I really have to find some PE foam to do some test this week-end! I don't remember for which foam it was :headscrat maybe PS foam, at the time I wanted to build a CNC to mill a car body shell in PS or PU foam, then make molds out of fiberglass
I'll see in autumn for the bigger router, I have to finish the garage first...

For the tool scanning, unfortunately I don't have a 3D scanner ;), I've already done some trials for wrenches trays, that don't need a lot of measurements, but for complex shape it would be much more difficult to have a perfect result.
I thought about a "2D profile scanner", not too difficult to make by myself, and use the shape recognition of my cad software. It would be useful for tools that just need a single 2D cut, if cuts on multiple levels are needed it would quickly become a nightmare.
However, for example Facom provide CAD libraries of their tools, online for free, I guess that other manufacturers can do the same, it makes the work much easier :)

Did you contact Toolbed or the other company ?
PE foam seems to be not that expensive: http://www.schaumstofflager.de/polyethylen/
Most companies say that they use a water jet or mill to cut the designs into the foam but i dont know if they put the foam into the freezer ? :) I guess they use foam of high density ? This company www.polyform.de had a booth at the tool fair, they had yellow/black foam inserts on display which looked like Stahlwille, maybe they can send you a sample of their foam :)
Isn´t 2D enough ? When the bottom of the foam is flat and you only mill the sides of a screwdriver handle for example into the foam ?

btw.: this website might be interesting http://www.cnc-router-routers.com/ http://cnc-step.de/en.html

if nothing works out you still could cut the foam with this :D

mrtools,

Thanks for sharing pictures of your tool collection. Very impressive!

Do you use your tools on the job? If yes, would you mind sharing what you do for a living?

Does your local industrial tool supplier source the Japanese hand tools from a tool distributor in Japan?

How durable have your Vessel Megadora screwdrivers, KTC hex bit sockets, and Heyco Maxline wrenches been in use? How long have you owned each of these tools?

Thanks,

Dave

Bahco was faster :D ;) 2 years ago

Press release from Bahco 8/25/2008
http://www.bahco.com/asp/news/Read....lngMenuID=1422&lngID=25433&lngCategoryID=2259

Press release from Stanley 6/25/2009
http://www.stanleytools.com/default...PAGE=PR_instanetchange09.htm&LEFT=left_pr.htm

Exactly 10 month later Stanley had the idea. Interesting, so it takes about 10 month to copy ...erm... "invent" a new tool :D :D ;)

Looks very comfortable, but Made in Sweden? Really?

Monte,

Thanks for taking the time to film all your videos. :)

I've walked past sale tables at my Home Depot that featured Stanley's take on the interchangeable saw. I always looked at it as an inferior Bahco copy. :D
As much as I want the Bahco though, I can't resist the greater temptation to buy a good Japanese pull saw.

Does anyone here have a clear preference for a hand saw? What is your pick: push saw or pull saw?

Mr. Tools,

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see some more Japanese tools, and interesting to know that you guys have a good selection of brands to choose from.

Excellent

it seems they have a foundry in sweden (or supplied by a ...) since the saw handle, the saws 325 + 319 as well as the scrapers (625, 650, 665) which are made out of cast aluminium are still "made in Sweden"

You are welcome :)

:D at least they tried :) ...maybe next time... :D

why not both types :)

never tried a pull saw ....:shocking:

I wonder why the saw doesn't say made in Sweden on it? Also I bought a firesteel from Light My Fire recently and the left the COO off the product. :headscrat

Most Bahco products over here don´t say the COO on the product itself, only on the package. Global brand bla bla bla :D ask Snap-on they know why .... :)

Monte you sure know your way around a camera. I really like the Bahco saw pictures!

 Already ordered your saw ??? :D ;)

Well done Monte! Your videos lend a Zen like calm.

lol :)

I first tried a Japanese pull saw about 30 years ago. I have never used a Western style hand saw since then. I have 5 different styles of Japanese pull saws today. You should really try one. There is no comparison IMO.

Hello everyone, the JMP charger is said to be made in europe by some sellers on ebay.de, and I think that I have seen that the facom one is swedish but I don't remember where.
Concerning 3/8" equipment; it's not common here too. the only times I see 3/8 drive is in motorcycle repair shops and not all of them.

You really need to try one. They are quite a bit faster than a Western style hand saw for me, but the control and the ease of the cut are what really set these saws apart. It is the same with their wooden bodied hand planes. They are really unbelievable. I had an old Norris plane which are generally considered to be some of the best metal bodied hand planes ever made. It is the best metal bodied plane I have ever used. I sold it and used to money to purchase several Japanese planes.

I am far away no pull-saw expert, but I own this one. Crosscut and ripping. Leaves a very smooth edge. It's more delicate than a western saw...make sure the first few times you use it to go extra easy so you don't break a saw tooth.

Cuts very fast. I like it very much. But sometimes I use a big western saw when I don't care how the cut looks and I am in a "rough" mood.

So it seems like people have made a switch from push saws to pull saws; not the other way around. OK, you guys made the vote: I'm going for a pull saw for my next hand saw purchase. :D

I do have a small, flush-cutting pull saw from Veritas and it's awesome.

I use the tool academy quite often, they're very good to deal with.
lol when I first googled this, I kept on getting that ridiculous 'reality' show... :shocking:

I have that one, with no name on it. I purchased mine from Lee Valley. It's made in Taiwan, IIRC.

Does the packaging have a COO? It should be from Taiwan, and designed by Hi-Five. A similar version is sold under the brands like Britool, Bost, SK, KTC, SEK, etc., but they all have "Reverse Gear" cast into the control ring, but the Facom one doesn't. That's because Facom is the one who approached Hi-Five to manufacture the ratcheting screwdriver. So, the Facom version is the 'original' one. :D

When the new Wera one came out, I suspected that it was also from Taiwan because of the similarity in the control ring, but I could be entirely wrong in that assumption though.

It is also the one I think marketed for Bahco - same ending on handle, same knurling on shaft.

They're so alike guessing gets you half way. :)

The IB/E

http://www.tbs-aachen.de/PROXXON/Mi..._Industrie-Bohrschleifer_IB/E_i2455_42128.htm

and the UNZ bench holder

http://www.tbs-aachen.de/PROXXON/Mi...niversalhalter_UHZ_mit_Zwinge_i2457_42164.htm

They said in stock when i ordered, so hopefully i'll have them here next week.

More videos of your collections please!

THanks for the link - kinda hurts to see the price though - it's about half what I'm going to be paying for the same one... the lower spec model here is more expensive than that! :(

<b><u>Sunflag (Japan) 4 Way Offset Screwdriver</u></b>

I bought this screwdriver late last week on eBay for $12.94 (includes shipping).

Sunflag_Offset_Screwdriver_1.jpg

stuff that makes me want one of these

If you want to purchase the above Sunflag screwdriver, click on this link:
LINK. The total cost is $19.00 ($12.00 + $7.00 shipping). The company is out of Minnesota.

Dave

Thanks the the link darn it, another thing to add to my "to buy list"!

Dave, with one the the pics you posted, there appeared to be a rubber add on to the handle that wasn't in the other pic, almost made it look like an air tool! lol I take it you turn the knob at the end and it turns the screwdriver?

Hi,
i just called Facom, the BC124PB Battery charger is made in Poland.

(btw: Facom + "Made in...." U.48PB = France, 821415 = Germany, 84TCS.J4PB = Italy, 985895 = France

I´m not really into woodworking, basically just need a saw to cut 1 or 2 pieces of wood which is faster than to take the jigsaw (unwrap the cord, insert the blade, put in the plug...and vice versa...), but i will try a pull saw since as a "tool expert" :D you should own every tool anyway :D (my role model is Tim Taylor :D )

ps: some more japanese saws:

Thanks Monte.

The ratchets are 32 teeth but have "tight" smooth ratcheting action.

I was with the idea that Padre made their own tools but seems like they also brand name OEM ones.
