Monte - I do have a part number. Sort of - it just says 863 bottle opener.

Thank you!

Nice accent Monte. :) The Fein is real but not sure how old(does it really matter?)

:)
Is it the new model (with quick-in ?) If so 270.- sounds good, maybe for $250.- i would take it (if he don´t take 250.- then pay 270.- :D )

Picked up the hose clamp pliers today, I have no use for them but they looked interesting and were made in France... :D

lol
how much did you finally pay ?? Found a coupon ?? :D

Since it had moving parts I made a short video.

nice !

Also heres some other EU made Craftsman tools.

swiss recipro blades? Schröder saw handle ?

There is a part number on that but you wouldn't be able to order that directly. I have bought a box full of those, so if there is any need....

For every larger order I'll throw one in, otherwise just PM me.

the bottle opener looks expensive... maybe next month....

It is basically a 863 ratchet without the ratchet mechanism. Then they mill out a part and chrome plate it.

That's what the apprentices make out of the parts that are somehow nicked a bit and can't be sold as perfect ratchets.

Interesting info !
Do they have a trash can somewhere at the outside of the facory where they throw all the defective tools in which can´t be transformed into a bottle opener ?? :)

I always thought it read "Made in Trance" back when I had a Citroen ;-)

lol :D

:D good idea :) ! i will consider it :)

I like that little Hazet magnetic tray because it works vertical and horizontal. :)

Also, how Jens described the 863 bottle opener was almost exactly what I thought. Figured it started life as a ratchet and had a quality issue or was used for testing. I have a freidn who used to work at Porsche - the new employees there built those 3D cutaweay cars before they built actual cars.

No, but I can ship there.

Thanks, Jens. You're already shipping me an order to the States tomorrow, I will just happen to be in Albania next month and was going to pick up some Hazet while I was there.

Good news is, I'm flying through Munich so maybe a layover for tool shopping is in order......:D

How do you like the 802 screwdrivers? I have the 802 PH3 (pictured previously) and that's a big grippy handle! The 810 blue handled drivers are very similar and much cheaper, but I don't have both in the same size, so I can't really make an apples to apples comparison. I will say the shape and tackiness of the rubber on either seems like they would transmit torque better then the black handled 803 pictured.

I like the Porsche...lol. Nice drivers, let us know what you think of the handles.

I kinda eluded to that above. The 810s are nicely shaped and grippy. Really they are probably the most Hazet you can get for the money - fantastic deal from Jens, comfy, sturdy, great fit (as you can see in my photo of the drivers hanging in the screw)... The handle on the 802 is very similar, but bigger than any of the 810s (bigger driver, though).

I like the model called "KESSY" more ....

I don't know names. I'm guess she may have been the one on the cover of the 2010 worldwide special catalog? I pointed out the Porsche because that's what got me interested in Hazet to start with.

USAG 325 series security torx screwdriver:

very nice pictures !!!!!!
Does the USAG screwdriver say where its made ? Is there a "France" or "Italy" somewhere on the screwdriver handle ?

nice toys ! :)

Any guys tried Bosch Multi-Cutters or other brand Multi-Cutters ? Which one should I get ?

Fein :)
sorry didn´t try the new Bosch...

BTW I once sold 20 of those to a bar in Germany and always wondered what they do with them. Maybe they drink beer from them and have steel walls?

first: :beer2: Then: :puke: into the bowl :D

@ Monte It was this model.

http://www.fein.de/fein-multimaster/us/en/products/multimaster_top.html

I bought the HCP during their 10% off sale over the phone with a Sears card and it cost me $35.99.

The blades are Swiss(I strongly suspect made by Bosch) and the handle is Schröder also it takes screw driver bits and is a very underrated tool IMHO.

Then buy the Fein thingy, the price is good for the big set !
36.- damn thats a very good price....if the $/€ exchange rate will be better i´ll order me a pair :)

now finally this thread gets interesting !!! :D
more !! :)

Bhae,

How do you rate the unusual acetate handles on the Toptul screwdrivers in terms of grip versus other "blade-thru handle" screwdrivers you own or have used in the past?

5e647582e892d8bbfac36a6ab336f965o.jpg

As far as the Toptul ratcheting screwdriver, does the direction selector provide enough resistance so that it cannot be turned accidentally during use? The Gearwrench ratcheting screwdrivers exhibit this terrible characteristic.

Is the ratcheting mechanism coarse or fine tooth?

Thanks,

Dave

Where is this box made? Are all the Hazet boxes actually made in Germany or does some other company make them? If another company, which one and COO?

They are all made in Germany. You can look at the 2011 catalog. It shows which tools are German (luckily most of their tools are German made).

Monte, do you know the warranty situation with Hazet? I bought a long Hazet T50 Torx driver a few months ago, used it for the first time today and sheared the tip clean off. :(

:(
The german website only states that they will replace tools with manufacturing or material defects...
Where did you buy it ? The Hazet dealer for the UK listed on the Hazet site is: www.damar.biz
Here is what they say in the US: www.samstagsales.com/warranty.htm

@Bhae:
nice tools !! How do you like the Toptul screwdriver handles ??
What do you like better Toptul or King Tony ?

Dave,

I've handled it a couple times and I find the ratcheting to be on the coarse side and has more back drag than I'm comfortable with. The selector itself is pretty solid though.

I have to admit I like the appearance of the King Tony Tools. Have no idea how they perform though.

Hrrm, KT seems to have copied Nepros' idea of using rubber as a gripper. I'll choose Nepros over those. :D

They are all made in Germany. You can look at the 2011 catalog. It shows which tools are German (luckily most of their tools are German made).

The large machines that stamp out the tool box skins are made in Japan. :D

Hey, how come the swirls aren't all in the same direction? Some are left-handed and the others are right-handed.

Simply due to the orientation of the screwdrivers when the photo was taken. There's no difference. :)

News today, Toptul & King Tony:

566c2fea3159d3696c509ba086978db0o.jpg

Looks like Toptul did change the design of their handles. I own a set of blade throughs with a black rubberized handle, which is pretty comfortable to work with. Here's a pic of mine:

http://www.wrenhandtools.com/screwdrivers/go-thru_drivers.html

However the Phillips driver tips are pretty soft. The tips show lots of wear after I have used them a few times.

BTW: The 1/2" torque wrench looks very similar to the BGS version (and some other el cheapos) you find everywhere on ebay. Seems to be the new "high performance" design for asian made torque wrenches (besides the regular all chrome versions you get at HF & Co). Wondering who the OEM is for those.
