servito, what tools would you most likely shoot with that kind of glass? :headscrat

:D

Mmmmmm, mostly a new wheelchair, the one I would need if I tried to carry that Monster :spit:... to tell the truth, I don't even know what would I do with such lens, maybe some pictures of the moon and some ships from the shore of my city... but it would be great for my tiny collection of EF lenses.

More pic
Local hardware store is getting rid of Tirem chisels and pin-punches. Most of this stuff was misplaced among other goods and hard to find.

Have you applied some unsharping mask to the pictures?
It seems from the edges of the tools.

I'll accept donations for a German made Leica. Its only $28,000 USD on Amazon. :) :pimpflash :lol_hitti

Which Leica has such price??? :shocking:

I found these interestring pliers for 2Eur in one of our local stores. They are NIB, made in 1992 by ROSTEX in Vyškov na Moravě (Czech Republic) - quite new brand name for me! The pliers came with certificate of quality and description of use.

150720112358.jpg

150720112359.jpg

Note that the quality class ("jakost" in czech) is 1A :)

There is a web page www.rostex.cz, but the main company goal is door security, and they don't make tools anymore.

which products ?

Nothing too exciting Monte just a few sterling silver stamps I bought years ago when I was into collection gold, silver, and platinum coins(most were from old world...) I think they were $10-12 apiece, a while back I sold one and kept the other since it was so unusual.

@cosmik binturong The Rahsol label on that one container gave it away that it was German not Swiss(read about Rahsol on here earlier....) ;)

Also it was the S2 IIRC.

mmmm... no thank you... i have plenty of 135 bodies and lenses but won't shoot my tools with that.
too much trouble with processing, getting a scan done and then editing, etc.

so i "need" a DSLR :D :lol_hitti

Hehehe, I understand you, after years of scanning pictures and slides, don't want to see a scanner anymore, only Digital cameras now

About all you will find is woolen clothing items.I had a look into buying some Iceland made socks but they were 25 Euros a pair , still i have real trouble finding good socks , most seem to get holes in after a dozen wears or less - pathetic!

Have you thought on cutting your foot nails? :lol_hitti

I really can't stand holes in my socks, they make me really mad.

lol 1752 KM.... :D
yeah a Monte Carlo, but currently without engine :) so it can take a little bit longer..... :)

cookies and tools worth 1752 KM of gasoline ? :)

Your Monte Carlo without engine... mmmm, so you can start pedaling :bounce:.

my german speaking ability is worse than my convoluted english... should have bought that complete Derrick dvd set methinks...:lol_hitti

cosmik, now you don't have an excuse http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,,2547,00.html

any ebay will list you some of unior tools

But they must also be willing to ship to Sweden... And those I haven't found many.

What a find! Nice Swedish Bahco! :)

Thanks, but without a working retainer ball it's quite useless...

shipping will be quite expensive i guess

happy shopping :)

I guess it will.

Here is what i bought:
IMG_0615.jpg

I didn't get combination wrenches since I try to not buy stuff purely for collection. I saw these straight ring wrenches and thought they'll be nice to have. As you can see it is two styles of stamping there, but both with "Germany". There was some combination wrenches with the new stamping you showed though...

might be tempted since i don't own a flex-rat and am a sucker for tools in distress... but 255.00 SEK for less than 1kg! :shocking:

remind me how you do say "****-******" in swedish please?

we might find a mutually profitable exchange methinks!

It is quite worn, just as a warning. It's been at least 2 years in the grass, probably more.

Swedish shipping rates are ridiculous! That's why I buy much stuff from Germany and UK, the shipping is often cheaper from there than from within the country.

To express your dissatisfaction with the postal handling you won't need such strong words. All you have to do is say "Posten" (the postal office) around swedes and a conversation about how bad it is will start...

Oui! Très bien!

Agreed!
I see "300NM" on the handle of your Gedore ratchet. I have used one of these and I was always afraid of breaking it. I never noticed this torque figure on the handle.

Yes, it says "max.300Nm". Without having used it, I think I'd agree with you. It looks weak. But it is a neat size for a 1/2" ratchet.

i see, it's really a tool in distress to be rescued and put to good use kind of thing for me. :D
a good low-pressure blasting to get that peeling chrome out of the way, some luv'n care, a matte black coating and new innards for the rat , some lube and it'll be better than new!

nah... that's just some old junk as Monte said! :D
don't be so impressed by it, it's only cheap but durable junk... ;)
you're right, here it's either you're a total Facom nutcase(the "nothing *is* better than Facom!" crowd) or a Mag(*nordic*-sounding name)sson believer(cheap *** B***o-D***t's "lifetime warranty" brand...) or you're working with good, unassuming tools from various origins and you keep a low profile on the french forums unless you want to get toasted! :D)
and as for being a "connaisseur", well, i'm a long way from that... but i do thank Saint-Monte everyday for the awereness(and the good ideas!)!

i had some nice tools before lurkin' here but wasn't really aware of all the good stuff that was available around the world; that said, i've always tried new stuff and adopted what worked, not what looked nice and shiny or was "fashionable", the PB swiss drivers for example were first bought along my first Felco C7 cable cutter in a trip where i forgot to bring my bike toolkit, since then i've bought numerous other brands but they're still here... same thing with my Stahlwille Open Box 13 series of wrenches: felt in luv' with the handling and balance and never looked back nor at the price stickers! :spit:

after all is said, they're just tools there to help us perform task, nothing less nothing more. but they're the tools i've chosen to work with.

AutomatiquE said:

was always looking for the small aluminium ones(1 to 12Nm) and jumped on it when i saw this one NOS: perfect for bike use(all those C, Al or Ti fasteners really require it), you can grip it wherever you want that doesn't change the torque setting! and bonus point for no one has the same where i'm using it! mmmm... all things considered, that can be said for most of my tools too! :D

eehhh öööhhhh uhhhhh that was more meant like a joke :D   ...

Welcome to the forum nutsandbolts, I can see what this thread has caused to you :bounce: loads of money spent on the best tools.

I don't dare to ask how much have you spent on all that stuff, but I will have been quite a lot :shocking:

How do you like the Festool drill?
I don't like the shape but I have listened they are the best cordless drills.

Greetings.

Olafur do you know of tools or anything else thats made in Iceland? I buy a lot of stuff from Europe even really obsure places like Estonia, Luxembourg, Vatican, etc but never see anything from Iceland(not even food.)
No tools. If you live in the US. you could try Whole food stores for Icelandic lamb and perhaps Skyr Our agriculture is not very competitive price-vise to the rest of the world so little is exported. It is cheaper to grow vegetables and fruits outside than in geo-thermally heated greenhouses in Iceland. But we still do it for ourselves. :)

Naturally there are some artists and crafts ongoing, I.e my ex-neighbor "Sigga" (click link in top of page "verkin mín" to see some pics)

Even though these companies have icelandic origin and are still primarily Icelandic I doubt there procuction is of any interest to collectors. ; Marel Össur
Eve Online

Have you applied some unsharping mask to the pictures?
It seems from the edges of the tools.
Yes, and little to much on this one. :) I am lazy and my tool pics are taken in rather dark room. Do not blame Nikon, blame me :headscrat

Yes, it says "max.300Nm". Without having used it, I think I'd agree with you. It looks weak. But it is a neat size for a 1/2" ratchet.
Compared to the usual 1/2" flex stuff it is rather slim. But, when I think back and consider some of the dudes using it - it is not as week as it looks since it is still working. Nice tool for tight spots. BTW: nice Matador pickup. This brand can hardly be found on Ebay, and not new in Iceland. Only seen few old spanners from Matador over here.

Sweet Koken: cosmik binturong

Koken seems to be rather conservative or this is "old" set. I belive I used one incredibly similar 25 years ago, only the extensions are different... It was of course "made in Japan" and that alone did raise some suspicion about quality back then. Turned out to be very good. I have not used Koken tools for years but I want some! I just find it a bit odd if I have to buy it from the US. Sure: the Icelandic WURTH dealer sells koken - but only at 2-4 times the US price.

He lists this set for €454 ~$645

yes, it's NOS, made in 2002 and sold with a 60% discount because the knurling is not the same as the newer ones...:wtf:
but it's still very good, their impact sockets are wonderful too, been taking years of abuse with impact, if i can find them anymore i'll take a few crappy pixes! :lol_hitti

there's a big Ko-Ken dealer in Germany that i had contacted a few years back but finally never ordered from... pricing was pretty interesting too except on the "industrial" finish sets that i wanted... :spit:
ask Monte, he might know the shop! :lol_hitti
(edit: found it: betec-tools, the prices are not as good as they were, sorry...)

why don't you try to order some Nepros from the US? it should be way cheaper than Ko-Ken seeing their competitive pricing!
there's only one caveat: those tools are too beautiful to work with :lol_hitti

why change a tool if it's perfect? being "conservative" when your tools are good is a plus in my book! :D

ps. how much just for the breaker bar? :)

i dont even have a car  (only my father...)

do you collect everything ?? :D tools, locks, weapons, coins...
do they make tools in the vatican ?? :D

I don't have a car either(too expensive.)

Also just into guns and tools/gear now. I don't do much with locks now and sold most of them last year and coins are too expensive... And on that note I'm taking another break from tools. Sig Sauer a Swiss/German company realised their US produced guns were of too low of quality and reintroduced a German made Sig P226 to the US market and I just have to have one...

http://sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/p226-german.aspx

I don't know Monte if they do its probably just screwdrivers with cross tips. :lol_hitti

@nutsandbolts You have an very nice collection of tools. :)

@american lockpicker
Perhaps you want Icelandic shotgun - Drífa:
554251.jpg

Hand made by Jón Björnsson: 16.okt 1907 – 7.jan 1991 Most are single shot but few are bolt action. He made 120 of them, the first in 1977 #101 and the last in 1991 when he was 83 years old # 220.

However - if you are going to hunt something with wings I recommend Benelli semi auto from Italy. :bounce:

@cosmik binturong
Well I do not know Nepros, I do not doubt the finish but strength?
Sorry I have no price for the braker bar but you can buy 400mm 1/2 extension from Koken in Iceland for only $90. :)

Talking about conservative: If it ain't broken - don't fix it! :)

Those are some nice guns.

Actually a Benelli is on my wishlist.

Few years ago a buddy was having problem with his Benelli shotgun. Back then he used it almost daily... I took it apart and did a thorough inspection and cleaning. Since then I have had great respect for Benelli. Considering these are mass-produced budget guns: design, craftsmanship and material is impressive.

@ AutomatiquE - PB Swiss drivers were bought in Australia. Old stock, the best drivers I've ever used.

@ cosmik binturong- Yes the account certainly took a beating, but a man must tool up! I've got to the point were I don't want to get caught short and be forced to buy a cheap tool to get the job done. I'm not an accountant.

@ servito - I've been stalking this drill for a couple of months, generally annoying the local dealer. Recently they had a stand at the working with wood show in Sydney. I was with my father and brother, all of a sudden a rush of blood to the head, a special deal and it was done. Got the full set with extra chucks etc

Managed to out tool both of them that day HA HA.:pimpflash

As you know with good tools they just feel right. The torque is amazing very delicate with the low settings (brass screws) and is elegantly brutal with long deck screws. Unlike physical clutches on my other drills this just stops at the correct setting with no fuss. I'm sure surgeons would use one of these.

@TjoFrasse : That's an one more smart buy with these nice Matador polygonal wrenches

Thanks! Yes, they're well made and I think they'll come in handy.

i dont even have a car  (only my father...)

nice Matador haul !!!!!! The flat box wrenches have nice shallow box ends

Do you also allow your tools to take to much of your spending money? :D I have the same problem...

I had planned to get Hazet 610N for straight double box end wrenches, but now I bought these. They were a lot cheaper so...

Mag(swedish-sounding name)sson believer(cheap *** B***o-D***t's "lifetime warranty" brand...)

ps. TjoFrasse, have a look in the test section :D

That is a nordic name. Is that some french cheapo brand I guess?

I'll send you a PM.

Well boys I came across this post in January, and what can I say, it's awakened the beast!

The following pictures show what I've been up to since......

Wow, that's some NICE stuff! Somehow this thread can make you go from just having some Knipex and Wera to contemplating how much you have to give up in order to afford some big Stahlwille sets...

I'm sure it is. It's just a similar situation as the spline driver sockets discussed earlier. Stuff that feels weaker than it is.

You should hope that Bauhaus opens then. I've bought all my Matador stuff there. Not super cheap but nice to just walk in and get a tool fix quick instead of waiting several days for mail order stuff...

the only tool i had from them was the adjustable wrench and it was really tough, as impressive as the swedish-made Bahco(don't tell anyone but i've used it with a 80cm extension for unsetting a BB cup that was rust-welded to the shell and there wasn't any play in the jaws nor marks after despite my best efforts!)
it looks like all the threads about them here are full of praise and no negative comments as far as their quality(except the classic nonsensical: "Snap-On is better finished and stronger":D) and seeing that they're better than KTC main line i wouldn't hesitate to buy another one and order other Nepros tools despite the shiny chrome if i had the means.

"only" $90.0... :eyecrazy: :spit:

alas we're somewhat headed in a fashion lifecycle for tools too; at least for the big players... :headscrat

Hey Cosmik. How do you like that Bahco wrench? Was just looking at those.

i like it very much, as much as the Nepros mentioned up there... the jaws had a very small play from the start tough... and the ergo handle is really a nice touch for my delicate hands! :lol_hitti

check it for play if possible before buying and look at the CoO!

corrected! :D

yes and no, looks like the disease is spreading across Europe! probably a pre-packaged complete offer with a serious sounding nordic/european name from one of the big chinese OEM marketed to the big stores chains crowd...
it's so sad and funny at the same time seeing the buyers week after week going to the store and queuing for half an hour or more to have their shiny but broken tools replaced under the no question warranty... :(
