I have not posted for a long while. I have been busy using my tools :) and pursuing a new hobby (bicycles). I got some bike repair tools. Bike tools are dominated by Park Tool (at least in the USA). I wanted something different and bought some Shimano, Tacx, and Gedore. The Tacx tools have a nice handle, but are stamped steel (like Park Tool). Tacx are made in Holland. Gedore tools are all forged and German made, the superior quality is evident. I will keep the Gedore tools and return the rest. The SKS pump is also German made and the best pump I have used.

Friend of mine bought some Tacx thin wrenches to adjust wheel cones, and they bented after first or second use. Total ****! As you said, probably cause they're stamped, not forged steel. Interestingly, same friend bought after that set of chinese cone wrenhes for 1,5eur, and they work well.:lol_hitti
I have SKS Suspensioneer fork and shox pump. Agree about quality, no doubt!
You should check Unior bike tools. Excellent quality for resonable price.

nice! i have bunch of bicycle tools, they are all made by VAR in france ;)

Show us your bike tool pictures!:needpics:

What quality they are? From this year, local shop Planetbike started importing Var tools. But they are hella expensive (or Planetbike wants to earn too much :D). For example, ahead nut setter is 50eur, wheel truing stand 400eur, wheel dishing tool 90eur, front sprocket truing tool 35eur, frame and fork end alignment gauge tool 150eur...Prices are double or more comparing to Unior.:wtf:

I have a few of them. 10,12,17,19. A friend gave me because he had also the newer ones (not the made in germany).

Hey Lok...Those Gedore wrenches without "Germany" stamp...Where they are produced?

You should check Wiha 369H9F, it's less expensive than PB. High quality German made. ;)

Ok, so when i have time i' will try with the non reversible which are less complicated. :D
ok cool :pimpflash;)
I haven't done anything yet.
If you mean that they are smoother than the reversible i don' t think that they are. At least i don't see any different. The smoothest are the most used until now.
i thought they are but only played with them in a store for a few seconds so i don´t know :D
So i presume that the prices will increase and here as well. Carolus increase his price around 20% in 2012.
20% :scared: so buy all Gedore tools you need on monday :D
Yes right. According to catalog the tempering is followed by the screw insert being manganese-phosphate.
FINALLY! My very first contribution to this thread!!!
Don't mind the mac and snap-on non german poo in the background!
nice Stahlwille + Knipex :)
I like that Snap-On design, best looking impacts

Any members in the USA order from the US version of the Gedore website? I was trying to order an item that is available from the German website but doesn't come up on the US website. It is the 1/4 " ratcheting bit screwdriver # 674/ code # 6530710. I have never liked the SO version and don't like storing the bits in the handle. Also are the tools shipped from Germany or their warehouse in South Carolina.I like to ship UPS and it defaulted to FedEx every time.I have always bought Gedore from Epsteins or some other source.
i would call them and ask: 1-843-225-5015

Nice tools egfdefos. I didn't knew that the gedore torque screwdriver were from felo. Thanks.

i thought they are but only played with them in a store for a few seconds so i don´t know :D

I have try both types and some of them they give you a bit different feel. The resistance to rewind is the same though. From my own only the No 13 are both new and unused and they give me exact the same feel. I'll pay more attention the next time that I'll go to shop.

20% :scared: so buy all Gedore tools you need on monday :D

I hope the gedore will not increase so much the prices. Hope is the only that i have now because the money have gone. However i wait a couple more things to arrive. :D

Untill few weeks ago, I did not know there where Bahco wrenches like these, nothing amazing, but so rare that I have never seen similar tools.

Bahco UV or "U-Vinkel"
Idea is both ends are with same size, so you can leave Stahlwille or Dowidat wrenches unused.
Three sizes are made to same base wrench.

attachment.php

These are old, some of them are even B.A Hjorth C.O label, so it means I will not get full set in near future.

Yes it is.

Yes they do, I gues most have also found that normal U-side on wrenches are fine, but sometimes there comes bolt that you need "open end" that is turned like Stahlwille. Those Bahco wrenches got both "open end's".

Monte,

Actually they still carry both the wera rebrand wisent and the wiha rebrand wisent at bauhaus. Bauhaus carries both the wera and wiha brands still. On one of the screwdriver stainless steel wisent their catalog saids wiha edelstahl.

Think bauhaus is the only big box to carry wiha, wera and knipex tools.

Love these! How much does a set of those run?

In the UK the version that includes the stand adds another £16 to the price. PB Swiss are pretty expensive and (inclusive of tax) the total bill would be £69.00 for the complete set and stand - this converts to about $106.00 USD.

Not sure what they cost if bought in the US, the part number is PB 1212.L ST RB.

Do you know if the Unior bike tools are forged? I assume they are, but I have never seen Unior tools in the flesh. I will see who sells them in USA.

Yes, the TACX tools are made in Holland (show on tool lable). I also have a TACX repair stand also made in Holland.

I don't know for sure. I don't own any. I know only that unior is very known for her bicycle tools. Maybe Jure knows more.

Searching for info I found the Forge programme but does not say clearly if the bicycle tools are drop forged. Or at least i didn't found it. you can have a look if i miss something.

I also found this interesting video. You can see some tools in action in 07.22. No more info though.

I got few ratches and have try out most of them. I like the desing and grip, it is silent and smooth. that "odd" lever desing works.
Chrome is awesome, it mirror good.

Thing about ratchets is; you have to try them out and find the one that you like and go with it.

I assume they are all forged, but they didn't put it in every description (as it's case with standard wrenhces and tools). But don't need to worry, cause you get lifetime warranty.:)

ALL unior tools are forged and full made in Slovenia. and stay away from unior screwdrivers, with other unior tools you CANT go wrong. unior tools are underrated and not so known becouse they were never big name like stahlwille, hazet, gedore etc etc but when you buy unior you know that you will have it for looooooooooong time.

edit: all unior wrenches are forged.

Think bauhaus is the only big box to carry wiha, wera and knipex tools.

this Bauhaus only had Wisent branded Wera drivers. Also Kraftform style sets with Wera-Wisent handle. Try to get a pic during this month. Didn´t check out other Bauhaus stores yet though.

I think you are right monte, my wife went to bauhaus today. They still had wiha rebrands, but they are on sale. She asked one of the tools guys there. They are slowly getting rid of wiha for wera. Think that since hornbach is a big wiha seller, they are going knipex and wera.

how good are padre wrenches?
They are not polished so they are not as nice to handle as say Facom or Stahlwille but not bad at all.
padre-2.jpg

Fit is fine and they are strong. I do not hesitate to link them together. Great workhorses for the price (at least over here).
