what your opinion about old Britools and new Britools tools?
(
I don't have much really old (made in England) britool stuff, but these bits (not made in England -or at least not marked as such) seem alright considering they were bought for quite cheap.
I have some of the brand new Britool Expert stuff. I'm not a tool-snob, and not being English I have no nostalgic feelings about older Britool made-in-England tools, so I think I can fairly say without bias that they're some of the worst-finished name-brand tools I've ever laid eyes or hands on.
I bought the Britool Expert stuff thinking it'd be at least as good, if not slightly better, than Halford's tools (which get pretty good reviews). The Halfords stuff is actually far, far nicer.
Ill try and get some pics, but the chrome is poorly applied, chipping and looks really thin even on the "good" tools. This is on brand-new unused tools from a sealed package. I've set the Britool Expert stuff aside and will be selling it on. I will not buy another Britool Expert product at any price.
I sent an email directly to Britool inquiring whether I may have just got hold of some bad examples and questions about warranty. I've had no reply from them, and their website is rubbish and very slow to update so it really seems they (Stanley?) aren't putting much effort into supporting the brand beyond glossy brochure photos.
