Can you folks explain this Value added tax to a simpleton American like me??? I just can't comprehend what you say 19%. That sounds insane!
hehehe... sure sounds insane, as all other taxes they impose on us.
In 60-70' some guys who never worked a day in their life figured out how to taxate the poor, because this tax applies for mostly anything you will buy your whole life.
it's like this, if you're a regular Joe living and working in Europe you have to pay VAT (VALUE ADDED TAX) , in NL it's called BTW, in DE it's called Mwst, all the same ****, we pay here 21% not 19% as german buddies
If you live outside Eurpean Union and have stuff delivered you don't pay this tax, if you buy from a shop here you can get the tax back at customs with the receipt.
There are ways to avoid some of it but "they" don't like it and call us names like fraud and evasionists
so, quarter of product value goes to the state budget
