@ricleh: I already have a 1/2" Metabo drill so i thought a small/light 3/8" drill would be good.
IIRC you own a lot of Fein tools ? Sander, angle grinder, vacuum, jigsaw ?
Please post some pics if you like.

This thread is on a roll this week. :bounce:

Love my little PB deadblow. I think the steel washers inside makes it more effective than the common shot filled versions.

Monte acknowledged that Asia is also part of the old world. So, I guess we're allowed to post tools from China and India, too!

Afaik it wasn't until 1543 that europeans set foot on the islands of Japan.
China was already known (from a european perspective in the 1300's (marco polo).
So better post tools from China than Japan:bounce::lol_hitti

@Mik641: That ko-ken breaker bar looks sweet !! If you have more ko-ken/Bahco etc. feel free to post them here !

@-B-: the Beta set is for sale......

@superautobacs: do you have a pic from the inside of the hammer ? :) I only read about the discs. I wonder which size of washers (?) they use ? M6 ? M8 ? :D

@phang: sweet ! Nice KTC (old Bost brand ?) and PB and red and green handle :D screwdrivers !
Do you have any close-ups of the end cap of the PB screwdrivers :)

RE: old world: yes so feel free to post all of your Harbour freight tools here ! :D
(no !!! :D ;)) I thought since there are already about 765 pages of mostly "new world" tools it would be interesting to have a thread for everything from the rest of the world.

Something from India:

Monte,

Yes, you are right on those softgrip KTCs

DSCN6253.jpg

The red and green handle screwdrivers are for carburetor tuning, the width of the blade is not larger than the diameter of the shaft so that you can access to a recessed jet.

@ monte we will figure it out on the Betas

The red and black KTC's were sold at CM many moons ago I bought the a 5 pc set I only have the large flat blade left and a #1 ph that has been customized in to a special tool. The red grip has separated on all the drivers I threw the other out as the tips were trash and CM no longer carried them.

Some of the wrenches on the pic look like they say "O`kay" ? Or I am blind ? :)

I already heard from ppl who visited sweden that there are a lot of american cars since you also don`t have to pay tax for cars older than 30 years i heard ? When my monte carlo will be finished in a couple of decades :) I`ll visit Västeras for sure !! http://www.bigmeet.com/

Yes vehicles older than 30 years are taxfree. The 27 year old J-20 costs now ~200eur annually which is a heavy increase from a few years ago! To put things in perspective a full tank of gas is nowadays ~80eur. That's also an increase:mad: It's really worth it travel to Västerås if you like US-cars, I'll guarantee it :pimpflash Try google "bilder power meet" for all sorts of pictures

You are not blind:) They made tools under the O'kay, Ray, and Orenco names. Some of them very good. A competitor to Bahco in the 1950s...

@superautobacs : Your memory must be better than mine:), that 1,5 year old thread come up now after a search. Amazing that ~40 year old Orenco's found their way to Hawaii!

DS-21,
I agree with Monte, I think that adjustable plier is really quite unique.

I remember being in a neighbourhood pub, somewhere in England, gulping down a not-so-cold, light coloured beer that had a sweetness to it. I can't remember what they put in it, or what it's called. There was no other beer that was as refreshing as that...but that was when I was 18 when I was still 'discovering' beer.

Servus,

@Chreese: A good digi cam is also on my wishlist but all the money is already into tools ...

A digital camera has never "really" been on my wishlist. There are too many tools on it. BTW, I finally went ahead and purchased the Gedore 1919-90 set yesterday.

PS: post some pics of your Berner toolbox ! Did you buy a complete (filled) one ?

I promise that I'll do that but it certainly will take some time. At the beginning of this year my plan was to get a toolbox (empty) that should give me the space I need to store all those tools that were crowded and unorganized at that time. Then I visited the Autozum show. That was a great opportunity to check out different toolboxes. At the Berner booth I was attracted by this deal: Berner Evolution II toolbox (empty) for EUR 449; Berner Evolution II toolbox with 10 filled inserts for EUR 849 (without VAT). Guess what I ended up with ... :bounce: Since that I bought more and more tools and as a consequence, the chaos is even bigger than it was a few months ago. :headscrat

I don`t have the Beta`s with the metal handle.

I already feel that I'll have to get them one day.

@ricleh: I already have a 1/2" Metabo drill so i thought a small/light 3/8" drill would be good.
IIRC you own a lot of Fein tools ? Sander, angle grinder, vacuum, jigsaw ?
Please post some pics if you like.

My suggestion:
- small Fein drill such as the ASkeu 636, the ASke 636 or the ASye 636
- Duss B 13/2 RLE
- Protool DRP 20 Quadrill
- maybe a "cross-handle" drill

Also, the ratchet heads and beam seem to resemble the Willes, and the abundance of spline sockets....just a coincidence?

Hm, I'd rather think that the Berner ratchets look like Facom ratchets.

@ricleh
Congrats on this impressive selection of excellent tools.
May I ask you for a close-up pic of the Lamello biscuit joiner's handle?

@mik641
Do you know where the Bahco socket set is made?

Regards,

Chreese

I thought you wanted the U-10 ? But the price for the box was too alluring right ? ;)

haha it seems it`s time for a bigger box ! Or another one :)
So it`s one like this ?:

bera_werkstattwagen_rdax_150x150_75.jpg

So when you have the chance take some pics of the box and the tool inserts ! Please include some close-ups of the screwdrivers + pliers (if you have some) :) They seem to offer rebadged Wiha + SKG screwdrivers. Which ones do you have ? They also have some nice NWS pliers with blue/grey softgrip handles

You seem to have the same taste of electric tools like me !
Additionally to your list I`d like to have this drill from Eibenstock :)

2007-12-17_16-41-25_9491.jpg

and this 4-speed drill from Protool:

Yeah, you guys are both right; it does resemble the Facom, too. Threw in some pics of the Willes:

You asked where the non-reversible (spline?) head ratchet is made. I think it's from Taiwan (Kabo) based on the two component handle and the (brass?) set screw on the side of the head.

Servus,

I thought you wanted the U-10 ? But the price for the box was too alluring right ? ;)

Correct, Monte. Besides, I can still buy a Gedore U-10 ratchet. So far, I own only a single 3/8" ratchet. I don't know if I'll ever need inch sockets but as it shouldn't be a disadvantage to be prepared for anything that might happen I'm contemplating a small 3/8" socket set with the U-10.

To your knowledge, does any other European tool company offer dual pawl ratchets? Matador?

haha it seems it`s time for a bigger box ! Or another one :)

Yes, one day I'll buy a second toolbox. The Rau workbench you bought looks fine. I found a Hazet 166 N at a tempting price but, to be honest, while I like the classic design of this box I don't think it is good value if I consider the space it provides. The Vigor WH 700 might be a better choice.
Nevertheless, the next bigger investment is probably a drill press.

So it`s one like this ?:

bera_werkstattwagen_rdax_150x150_75.jpg

Yep.

So when you have the chance take some pics of the box and the tool inserts ! Sorry, I have to disappoint you. The only Berner pliers I bought were the circlip pliers and the water pump pliers I already posted pics of. I didn't get any Berner screwdrivers either. The deal was that one could choose ten different inserts, regardless of price. So I decided for tools that I didn't have in my arsenal and the second aspect I brought attention to was price. When I saw that an insert with ratcheting wrenches cost EUR 170 while screwdrivers went for EUR 60, decision was fairly easy.
As far as I know, Berner offers Witte and SKG screwdrivers. You can download the complete Berner catalogues (construction and garage equipment) from the Berner CZ website.

Something like the Eibenstock drill was in my mind when I mentioned a "'cross-handle' drill".
The Protool cordless drills are impressive. I always take the chance to play with them at stores. If I didn't own the Protool Quadrill DRP 16 and an older Festool cordless drill (CDD) I wouldn't hesitate to get one of the Protool Quadrives.

Thanks for the pics of the Stahlwille ratchet, superautobacs. There's no doubt, the Berner ratchets look a lot like the Stahlwilles. I'll will take a bunch of close-up pics of the Berner ratchets as soon as possible.
Some of the older Berner ratchets that I found in a catalogue had the same handles as the Facom ratchet Monte posted a pic of.

Thanks for the photos, ricleh. I've never seen a Top 10 with this type of handle before.

Have a nice weekend,

Chreese

oh oh ! Only one 3/8" ratchet is not enough :D
There are a lot of uses for inch sockets... Harley, us-cars, caterpillar :)
I think the other ratchets are all single pawl.

yes from the provided space the Vigor is better, Metec would be a alternative or "Adlatus" brand boxes from Rau.
But it also depends on how you store your tools, you could put everything into one of the assisstents too..... ;)

DSC00002-1.jpg

ah ok i see i thought it was a standard setup like ratchets etc. with 1 inlay pliers, 1 inlay screwdrivers, 1 wrenches etc. , but to choose the more expensive tools makes more sense .

btw Festool:

Correct, I need more (3/8") ratchets, more screwdrivers, more sockets, more wrenches etc. ;)
I don't own any of the "toys" you mentioned and - even more astonishing - they aren't on my wish list either. If time, money, space and knowledge weren't an issue I'd like to get an old truck or off-road vehicle such as a Steyr 680, an Unimog, a Pinzgauer or a Mercedes/Puch G. A tractor would be nice as well.

yes from the provided space the Vigor is better, Metec would be a alternative or "Adlatus" brand boxes from Rau.

Maybe I'd rather decide for a mobile workbench instead of getting another toolbox. Rau has some nice shop equipment but I guess the deals are less tempting after the shipping costs are added.
How about the Beta Supertanks? Would you recommend them?

But it also depends on how you store your tools, you could put everything into one of the assisstents too..... ;)

Not quite my taste, I'm more of an organized guy. The classic Assistents just look "cool" in my opinion and one day I'll probably feel a strong desire to get one. But as a toolbox it wouldn't be my first choice.

The TDD should be one of the last units without FastFix. As far as I know, "Festo" changed its name to "Festool" in 2000. And 2001, the FastFix feature was introduced.
For those interested in woodworking and woodworking tools, I do recommend to check out Festool. You won't regret. In my opinion, some of the Festool tools are really hard to beat.

BTW, what do you think about the location of the knurled grip on Gedore sockets? When a Gedore socket is attached to a ratchet, I need a second hand to reach the knurled area. I can't reach the knurling with the hand I operate the ratchet with.:headscrat

Have a nice day,

Chreese

;) :D
but i think then you should buy some 3/4" and 1" drive tools "just in case".... ;)

The Rau bench was only 35.- € Shipping (spedition) for 737 KM from near stuttgart to Hamburg. To ship it to anywhere in Austria shouldn`t be (much) more expensive i think.
I would email them. Do you have to move the bench ? Otherwise here are some workbenches from Tecnolam /Italy click . If you can/want to spend that amount of money the super tank would be nice i guess, but i only saw the regular boxes here so i can`t comment on them.

Yes i think Festool and Mafell is what i would look into for woodworking too.

The only really working knurling you`ll find on Hazet sockets, thats why i have them :) The Gedore knurling should be lower.
Gedore has this for you to turn the socket:
