Servus,
I thought you wanted the U-10 ? But the price for the box was too alluring right ?
Correct, Monte. Besides, I can still buy a Gedore U-10 ratchet. So far, I own only a single 3/8" ratchet. I don't know if I'll ever need inch sockets but as it shouldn't be a disadvantage to be prepared for anything that might happen I'm contemplating a small 3/8" socket set with the U-10.
To your knowledge, does any other European tool company offer dual pawl ratchets? Matador?
haha it seems it`s time for a bigger box ! Or another one
Yes, one day I'll buy a second toolbox. The Rau workbench you bought looks fine. I found a Hazet 166 N at a
tempting price but, to be honest, while I like the classic design of this box I don't think it is good value if I consider the space it provides. The Vigor WH 700 might be a better choice.
Nevertheless, the next bigger investment is probably a drill press.
Yep.
So when you have the chance take some pics of the box and the tool inserts ! Please include some close-ups of the screwdrivers + pliers (if you have some)

They seem to offer rebadged Wiha + SKG screwdrivers. Which ones do you have ? They also have some nice NWS pliers with blue/grey softgrip handles
Sorry, I have to disappoint you. The only Berner pliers I bought were the circlip pliers and the water pump pliers I already posted pics of. I didn't get any Berner screwdrivers either. The deal was that one could choose ten different inserts, regardless of price. So I decided for tools that I didn't have in my arsenal and the second aspect I brought attention to was price. When I saw that an insert with ratcheting wrenches cost EUR 170 while screwdrivers went for EUR 60, decision was fairly easy.
As far as I know, Berner offers Witte and SKG screwdrivers. You can download the complete Berner catalogues (construction and garage equipment) from the
Berner CZ website.
Something like the Eibenstock drill was in my mind when I mentioned a "'cross-handle' drill".
The Protool cordless drills are impressive. I always take the chance to play with them at stores. If I didn't own the Protool Quadrill DRP 16 and an older Festool cordless drill (CDD) I wouldn't hesitate to get one of the Protool Quadrives.
Thanks for the pics of the Stahlwille ratchet, superautobacs. There's no doubt, the Berner ratchets look a lot like the Stahlwilles. I'll will take a bunch of close-up pics of the Berner ratchets as soon as possible.
Some of the older Berner ratchets that I found in a catalogue had the same handles as the Facom ratchet Monte posted a pic of.
Thanks for the photos, ricleh. I've never seen a Top 10 with this type of handle before.
Have a nice weekend,
Chreese
