I'm looking for a 1/2 ratchet. I like my Bahco 3/8 ratchet(snap on 80T inside) and was thinking to also buy the Bahco 1/2 version(SB8150). But they are getting hard to find and the price went up(€65-70).

Now I'm also looking at Hazet ratchets.

- Does a 1/2 ratchet really needs a lot of teeth?:headscrat
- Maybe a longer handle?
- A flexhead looks handy?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Jasper

I really appreciate the high teeth count as it helps in very tight spots (e.g. engine bay).

As I own both the Hazet and the Bahco, I can say that the Hazet has a very bulky head which will not fit in every spot.

Go with the Bahco or with the Stahlwille 512 QR N:

Some new tools to light up the world with.....

A new standard Led Lenser....nice, good quality.

Very nice flash light:thumbup:

Today I cleaned office and found old Gedore catalog from 98.

New quick release ratchets from Stahlwille 435QR 3/8" and 512QR 1/2", I bought them from Stahlwile Focus 2015.

So day five of my travels, I spotted this small tool shop near my dad's house:
001_zpsulvprvdj.jpg~original

This is typical among small business in Taiwan; but here you can find used, vintage, rare, parts for power tools easily.

Next on the totem pole are the the larger chain stores like this:
002_zpszdqsfb0n.jpg~original

I was told this is equivalent to a Home Depot/Lowes type deal.

Now for the holy grail, the crème of the crop:

Small selection of Snap-On.

They have a remarkable amount of PB Swiss.

This little guy caught my attention. I WANT!

Hazet and Stahlwille selection is pretty comparable.

This ratchet is so nice Laro13. In fact, I like it better than the Nepros 90 series. The Hazet feels much more robust and brute.

Mostly Wiha Hex keys:

This test bench is messy, but I can easily spot my target:;)

So disappointed:sad:, the button mechanism is hard to engage on both the display and new in packaging Bi-cut. It cuts similar to Knipex.

That is the great thing about Factory Gear, you can demo so many items. I just grabbed so much stuff off the racks to test out.

Liquid submersible drills. Discussed on the forums not too long ago, but I believe I am the very few to touch and hold one:p

Very useful in humid, wet Taiwan and sub Asia. Ergonomics need improvement.

I have that Hazet ratchet, it's my current favorite.

Its smoother than my Beta and Snap-On + Bahco Dual80 ratchets, and feels more solid than them as well. Head is big, but for a 1/2", I'm fine with that. The Beta handle is better, but the smoothness and low back drag is unparalleled.

Only wish they made a longer handled flex head version.

Honiton Tools, native to Taiwan. Feels very similar to Toptul.

Yep, love their tools for that reason alone.

Their ratchet handles are great, their pliers handles are easily the best in the business. Screwdrivers are awesome as well.

Their hard goods (wrenches, sockets, etc) are decent as well, but Koken Zeals are better sockets, the wrenches aren't super standout but I like them.

The sliding T handles and P handles are awesome too, they're the only brand that forges their tips.

Hautpot,

First off, thanks for taking all the photos. Sooo much eye candy!

Yes, that Beta torque wrench is made by Norbar....they've been the OEM for Beta for at least 20 years.

The reason why there's lots of Wiha is because Wiha has had a good presence in Taiwan already.

That Factory Gear store opened just a couple months ago, so that was good timing for you to go to Taiwan.

Many thanks for the pics !

What I find interesting, in Taiwan or Japan there are shops with Hazet, Stahlwille, Knipex, Beta, Snap On, Nepros and so on..... here in Germany or in Europe, I don't know one shop with such a selection.

Is there in the United States, such well-stocked shops ...there I would expect something like that !?!

Hautpot,

You could ask the gear factory and other shop fzor a few tools for an impartial review as representative of the famous GJ community.

You then abuse them and if they survive keep them[emoji6] !!!

What makes those Wiha Pico screwdrivers unique? I can see they've a different handle than the standard wiha micro screwdrivers. Whats the purpose ?

tools are not unique, they usually are mass produced , sometimes I make my own , that would really make them unique, unfortunately my screwdriver production line is not working atm

the purpose of a screwdriver set is to screw and unscrew.... screws :)

@moose , I think Lincoln may have(had) a factory in Italy , Cebora makes fine welding machines I wouldn't be ashame to have one .

Saw this today on youtube; the host is from a German based tuning shop, he does a walk through the Hazet factory and talks with workers there. Note: this is in German and not English but I still enjoyed seeing the Hazet manufacturing facilities, processes. I though others; might enjoy, this video as well.

This is "part 1"; so, there maybe more soon...

Any opinons on these Fiskars Kitchen Shears? I was at another kitchenware shop in another mega mall and these caught my eye. This Shear and the whole lot of Fiskars stuff is made in Finland :) The finish is exceptional.

Sorry for crappy cell phone picture.

Also wanted to mention the price: $27 USD / €24 / $880 TWD

I have a longer version of those with the same handle as shop scissors.

Inherited from my grandma when she died. Still going strong. Excellent scissors.

I've been looking at this stainless screwdriver for two years, but never saw a discount. The list price is way too expensive for me:sad:. I can almost buy two nepros or five pb swiss drivers with the same amount of money.
