But can`t find the set and wrenches on their website !?:headscrat
Toptul has something like this but as combination wrench

I guess it's NOS Unior
Yeah, Toptul has them in both stubby and regular combi styles. Toptul say they have a patent on them...I wonder what the patent is. :headscrat

I was trying to see if there's a price difference depending on where it's sold in Europe.

I happen to going to Paris late this December as I'm trying to see what tool shops I can go to. :bounce:

Wolpi,

Nice stuff. What brand is the ratcheting wrench on the far right??

05122009039.jpg

here is a picture of the würth which are great...just love them! i'll make a better picture of them, they look little bit ******...in real they look better. they are quite expensive! but these are great! if you work on a car...you can do most of the work with 2 tools...and you have a great warranty!

Superautobacs,

Are you going to Paris at the end of this month for business or pleasure? If you happen to find any well stocked tool stores in Paris, would you please take and post the pictures on this forum? I think the pictures Monte takes of the German tool stores are so cool!

Have a safe and enjoyable trip,

Dave

Dave,

I'm going there for pleasure with the SO...very short: from the 28th to Jan 5th.

Sure! I'll take photos as long as I don't have a French-man yelling at me in a foreign language I don't understand. :D
I'd also want to walk through some flea markets, but I'm not sure which ones would be most suitable for what I'm looking for.

Anyone reading this thread familiar with the French language/Paris? :)

That's true but I'd rather go with Turnus, Klann or even PB because I assume that Matco is hard to find here.

Thats right. I just emailed them - maybe they have a Witte version too on request :D

Both - the Hazet 3/8" sockets and the Vigor 1/2" sockets or the Hazet 3/8" sockets in both 6 and 12 point?

The Hazet sockets in 3/8" and 1/2" in 6 point and 12 point :D

Nope, fortunately not. It was "only" approx. EUR 351 (with VAT).

Thats a good price !! nice haul !!

Regarding the "finish issue" raised here:
I sent the complete content of the 3/4" set to Stahlwille. Short version: According to Stahlwille, this finish is normal and quality is fine. The inside of the sockets is treated with a special coating (lacquer) as it's technically impossible to chromium-plate it. The spots I was worried about are the result of lacquer that was applied to areas that had been chromium-plated before.

Interesting to know ! Didn`t know they`re painted.

If the shipping costs are affordable, just go for it. ;)

Still too expensive for me :D

@wolpi
so only the bolt broke and the "eye"/hole where the bolt goes through is still intact ?

@superautobacs:
I wonder how good the idea is. When the open end opens under load its a good tool to round off the corners of the nut/bolt i guess :)

ps:
a screwdriver set from "Wago". Looks old but is still listed

yxaseg1.jpg

yxaseg4.jpg

And a "Bertool" side cutter. Once offered from Stahlwille as a lower priced alternative

that is a beautiful, exotic collection (exotic to me, at least).

One brand of tools that I would like to see more of is BETA. Do you have any of that stuff?

Sorry for picking up this old thread. I was browsing through the forum looking for different information, and saw your post. I am pleasantly surprised to see that there is interest for Beta tools. I have owned some of my Beta tools since my earliest teens, after inheriting a few from my grand father. I now have quite a few sets, and not only in metric sizes. I think they are good tools, on par with USAG tools, also made in Italy.

The good people of this forum will be glad to know that I intend to borrow a relatives digital camera over Christmas and photo a load of tools which is straight up this threads street. Being an electrician it's mostly vde insulated stuff. Plenty of Beta, Unior and Facom with the occasional Palmera, Whia, etc. And those who love there old Belzer will be in for a treat.

Sorry, your going to have to bear with me for a bit but it'll be worth it.

Welcome to this thread Lucakiki in Torino and Jako (from where?)

Good point; I never thought about that.
I'm wondering if it's any different than a regular open-end in terms of its ability to resist spreading....given equal materials.

Those PB Swiss tools are of outrageous quality aren't they? With prices often to match. Looking for internet dealers who sell there products is very difficult here in the UK, and then the range often isn't that great. Your best bets probably going through one of the big sellers on German Ebay whose prepared to ship internationally.

Good point; I never thought about that.
I'm wondering if it's any different than a regular open-end in terms of its ability to resist spreading....given equal materials.

Maybe it has a thicker "head" ? I knew i saw this wrench somewhere before so i dug in my treasure chest and found this:

Looks close to the Unior wrench you posted:

DSC00003-30.jpg

calb4DSC03860_JPG.JPG

DSC00005-20.jpg

But this is branded "Connex" (rebadged tools sold at big box stores)

DSC00004-16.jpg

I dunno if they`re the same , the Unior website states 4,9mm as head thickness , the Connex wrench has around 4,1mm though.
Anyway i tested how much the wrench spread, but it did only a little. So i would say it depends on the thickness of the head and the size of the "teeth"/points if the wrench would work.

grade 5 , head turned off, with only a little spread of the open end.

Very nice collection !! But i see a empty space where more Knipex pliers could fit in ! :D ;) ;) ;)
How do you like the PB ratcheting screwdriver ? How is the "feel" ? Smooth ratcheting ? noisy ? swiss precision or more like this: ? :)

@ Superautobacs - Honestly I don't recall the brand.. I'm on the road now and when I get home I'll look.. I got it at Home Depot of all places, but I do know it was USA origin.

@Jacko I've only had the chance to play with it a couple of times with some scrap wires and not used it extensively for anything yet, but the action is solid. Does it crimp any better than a cheap set? I don't think the end result is better, just that it's a lot easier on my hands... great lever.

@Monte.. I'm saving room for THESE

as for the PB Ratchet.. lets put it like this.. if I could chose just one Screw driver ... it would be this with a set of philips and standard tips from PB.. The heft and quality of this is 2nd to nothing, even from Snapon.

Thanks regarding the info on the PB driver ! I`ll order one if Santa Clause leaves enough money here :D

i did use both hands :) safer and less force needed and don`t hurt :)

Just ask somebody in the streets there: "Outillage Facom ??" and give a shrug. They`ll point you in the right direction :)

Thanks for the links.

I recently got a set of 5 Racodon pin punches for a decent price at Lee Valley.
I hope I come across some Roux locking pliers, like the Toucan shaped ones.

Signet....although it's a Canadian company, I've only seen a few items at my local tool store. Apparently, they used to carry a whole line from Signet, but (I can't remember the reason) they decided to carry the GearWrench line instead.
They're certainly hard to come by...at least on the westcoast. Perhaps they're more available in the eastcoast, where they're headquartered.

That screwdriver is Wiha made....and I thought all Signet stuff was exclusively from Taiwan!

Sorry, I don't have pictures of it yet. They're just simple, short length, non-rubberized, knurled punches (knurling almost looks like a rasp).

Anglo-canadian...hrmm, I'd have to say Megapro is. I like their ratcheting screwdriver.

Adj. wrenches.....hrmm, looks like an Irega. :pimpflash
Boy, look at this thing:

Oh NO......more ****** handles.

Well, I'm home now and I looked for you..

The larger one with blue rubber is Eswing and the smaller black one is Stanley..

Thanks for checking that out. I had a feeling even the Estwings were made in Japan by Dogyu, but I guess I was wrong.

[EDIT]:
Actually I think it is Dogyu who made that. Check out their lineup (there's 11 pages worth of them!). I found it on page 5: http://www.dogyu.jp/product.php?page=4&scategory=9

Here is one of my favorite locking pliers by Nicholson. I tried to find other models from the same manufacturer but could not find US Made ones anymore. All I found was Made in China.

Ok, so as promised I managed to get hold of a camera. I'll start off with this 1000v 1/2 Roebuck Ratchet, which is actually manufactured by Palmera but rebranded and sold through the Buck and Hickman wholesalers here in the UK.

Jacko,

Thanks for the pictures. What sort of environment do you work in, if you don't mind me asking?

Here's some quick photos I took of the Racodon parallel pin puches and my SS gift I got from JAFE (thank you, Steve, if you're reading this).

Here's the 44-tooth Beta which I believe is not sourching anything from Taiwan, except for the handle?...maybe? There's no "Italy" anywhere. The reason I say it's not sourced from Asia is because of the non-mirror-like finish on the chrome plating. I expect almost any chrome plated hand tool from Taiwan/China/Japan (Nepros) to be near flawless.
I've had this suspicion that the fully chrome-out 72-tooth version is probably sourced from Taiwan. If someone has the 72-tooth version, how's the finish on it?

I'm an Electrician, largely commercial builds - Although I've done precious little work this year with the economy being what it is.

I've got plenty of more stuff to post (including a Beta insulated socket set).
