Hello Dutch 79, I like that VIGOR catalogue: for more than a year I ask for one, but without any response from them. Where can I get one? Most success for obtaining catalogues are from Belgian sellers, and from Jens (for Hazet,Gedore and Knipex) Btw: I´m dutch, living in France for 11 years after "retraite" Kind regards,Johan

Hi Monte, I am interested to buy a Frico 5 kW heater like yours, I want to know its price and where to buy, here, in France, I can´t find it, In Holland, my COO, neither. Important for me: does it make much noise? (I like Pabst fans however!) Tnx

Hi Roverbo, A late reaction, but I read this for the 1st time. I have the same Smashweld 250 since 1994 and I love it! I changed the fan for one ,made by Papst, the "original" was very noisy, like a gasturbine! Mine is in better health than yours, no rust. It has the same yellow torch, as the red one was "used" bij the 1st owner. I do not like the internal wiring however, all black wires and it seems that the price per metre was very high...........For this ESAB needs to shame! Do you know it is built in Sweden? Regards.

Just an update for anyone who was following.

I spoke to Gedore Tools US on the phone. They had some difficulty finding this part too, and contacted Gedore in Germany. Turned out it was some special item that only Gedore Netherlands had ever stocked, and Gedore US has offered to purchase one from Gedore Netherlands, sell it to me directly for 50 bucks. So its about double the price but at least I'm able to locate the part. I'm kinda surprised/disappointed that Gedore didn't stock the pipe jaws for a vise they're still selling (I wish they just welded in the pipe jaws on it to begin with) but at least I'm able to locate these, and I'll probably JB weld them in place.

Maico, this clubhammer is the Dutch design, Picard still make them. The German pattern is made by everyone.

Indeed, Peddinghaus also sell the Dutch pattern.

I have a Picard engineers hammer and I think the fit and finish are not as good as the Gedore forge hammers I have.

And not in the Japanese tool thread[emoji27] [emoji36]

Looks nice. I remember Panasonic being top quality second only to some extremely high priced euro brands.

Closest I'm going to get to a Stahlwille socket set :(

Stahlwille empty socket case.

Prime tools are clearing these on ebay.

Metal case and hinges. Plastic latch.

IMG-5208-2.jpg

3/8 ratchet at the front for scale. Maybe sacrilege keeping Taiwan made tools in it.

Great cases these and waiting for my three to arrive. I bought some a while back and very handy for storage and reasonably priced.

Keep an eye out on the Stahlwille sales that happen from time to time as they can be quite a good discount from normal RRP.

I have a Stahlwille socket set that uses that same metal case. The case is nice but I was disappointed by the plastic latch, I guess time will tell about its longevity.

First saw available from Wiha.

Wiha 19767 has been around for a bit. Made in Germany.

All the red PVC coated hex keys, wrenches, sockets, and screwdrivers are German made also. Maybe the new stuff is for the budget minded?

Wiha, made in Germany (most of their screwdrivers)? Fine!

Wiha, made in Vietnam (their pliers)? I’ll take as I find, and they’re O.K. (Though they should be cheaper)!

Wiha, made in China, No Way!

1) These don’t even seem to be a Wiha design that’s outsourced, they are a simple rebrand!

2) Despite the advances made in some parts of the Far East, Chinese made tools never seem to work properly, if at all, and represent poor value no matter how cheap you get them!

3) Presumably these tools are to be used for ‘live line’ working! You’d be insane to risk your life on Chinese made anything, especially when first class ‘live line’ tools are manufactured to a very high standard in the U.K. by ITL (shown), in Europe, and I would presume the U.S. as well!

The British made tools Have a tough nylon insulation that’s fairly damage resistant. Many inferior tools use PVC, but I really don’t know why you would risk your life with anything ‘inferior’! Maybe that’s a mindset that comes with working on 110v rather than 240!

The fitted case isn’t decoration either. The guys who use these tools keep and carry them only in fitted cases so they don’t bash into each other and pick up damage. They take them out only for live line work, use them and replace them. They don’t get used for other work, and are regularly inspected and tested!

How is that any different from rebranding American tools such as those dumb stamped wire stripper like things?

https://www.wihatools.com/pliers-cutters-crimpers/wire-strippers/wire-stripping-pliers-725

They re-brand them, because that "dumb" style or a variation of is still pretty much the standard throughout the US for electricians.

Even though they know they won't really be able to compete against Klein/Ideal in the american market, they still need to have them in their catalog. It makes no sense to tool up for models that won't sell well, especially when you can re-brand the market leader. They make a metric version of your "dumb" style BTW.

https://www.wihatools.com/insulated-stripping-pliers-10-20-awg

It is different because Wiha has a full line of made in germany/vietnam VDE tools, now they are muddying their line with re-branded chinese tools.
