Wiha, made in Germany (most of their screwdrivers)? Fine!
Wiha, made in Vietnam (their pliers)? I’ll take as I find, and they’re O.K. (Though they should be cheaper)!
Wiha, made in China, No Way!
1) These don’t even seem to be a Wiha design that’s outsourced, they are a simple rebrand!
2) Despite the advances made in some parts of the Far East, Chinese made tools never seem to work properly, if at all, and represent poor value no matter how cheap you get them!
3) Presumably these tools are to be used for ‘live line’ working! You’d be insane to risk your life on Chinese made anything, especially when first class ‘live line’ tools are manufactured to a very high standard in the U.K. by ITL (shown), in Europe, and I would presume the U.S. as well!
The British made tools Have a tough nylon insulation that’s fairly damage resistant. Many inferior tools use PVC, but I really don’t know why you would risk your life with anything ‘inferior’! Maybe that’s a mindset that comes with working on 110v rather than 240!
The fitted case isn’t decoration either. The guys who use these tools keep and carry them only in fitted cases so they don’t bash into each other and pick up damage. They take them out only for live line work, use them and replace them. They don’t get used for other work, and are regularly inspected and tested!
