1,20€ normal retail price or reduced ?? But anyway i think China too ... 1,20€ is wayyyyyyyyyy too cheap to be "made in Europe" ...China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India maybe :) . Just read in the newspapaper today in Bangladesh some people only earn 16€ /month ..........:wtf:
but if the pliers work...

@chreese:
Did you already saw the new Gedore 2010 promo tools "live" ?

i wonder if this tool bag has a cover/"bonnet" ?

and what`s about the new finish on these ?

Are the promotional tool prices genuinely good deals? I understand that buying tools in Europe is not cheap when compared with the States, where we can purchase European brand tools for equal or better price. I'm going to Germany for a quick short stay, and with that in mind, where does one find bargain deals when shopping at tool stores in Germany? If I can purchase the same thing here for equal or better price, I'm not going to bother.
I'm gonna be staying in Allenbach (near Hilchenbach) and there's a Schuebo near by--is that a good place? What about some reliable online retailers?

Reduced....normal is € 2,50 eheheh anyway....it works....!!! Monte...do you know where i can buy in Europe a Craftsman toolbox with 2 drawers?

:)
The only store i know of who sells Craftsman here is this american car parts distributor who sells a 154 piece C-Man box with tools. But not what you are looking for click
You are probably looking for this or this. But with Craftsman brand i cant help you. The only similar thing which come to my mind is this:

and this from "Waterloo" which is available in Portugal:

@Monte I've seen a dutch webshop that sells waterloo.
You wrote earlier about the battery-powered tools from Hazet. Do you know who is the original manufacterer? Any experience with them? Good quality? I'm thinking about buying them because the batteries are interchangeable, AND they have battery-powered rachets. (I would be more comfortable buying Bosch, but they don't have the ratchets).

@ Autobacs The promo prices are usually very good deals.
The best deals I have found in Germany so far is http://www.tbs-aachen.de. Pretty good prices on Hazet, Gedore, Carolus, Vigor and Hitachi.

yes they`re good deals, in case of Gedore sometimes up to 40% rebate.
I once ordered here: http://www.tbs-aachen.de/ here http://wuppertools.de/ and @ www.schuebo.de . But most often i buy from wholesalers but they don`t have online stores only printed catalogs or in a store since i get the same prices or better and without shipping costs.
Where do you want to go ? To get the promo prices i would print out the flyer because the store personnel might not know anything about promo prices.....

which tools/brands are you looking for ?

There is a set of 5 or 6, is a speaker with more screwdrivers, only already sold out several models, so you can only see 5 or 6 models.

Guys, I edited my earlier post a bit to include some more information.

I cross referenced pricing on some of the Gedore items I've purchased through Klann N.A. with the listed prices on TBS Aachen. Surprisingly, the prices are more or less the same.

So, if I find a Gedore promo deal that I like, and take it to a tool store that carries that brand (like Schuebo), they will honor the price without question? I only have two days in Allenbach, and I don't think I'll be venturing out of there besides Engelskirchen.

Re. Hoffmann group: tax number. Sounds complicated, and not really suitable for a visitor?

@Autobacs: I have a contact at Hoffmann from the early days when I did some purchasing for my daytime job. I recently contacted them again, and they send me a new catalogue and told me to order whatever I wanted (without tax-number). He (the rep.) would order it in his name, and send it to me. Haven't ordered yet.

I don't know where allenbach is, so can't tell you any more.

yes www.toolsandstorage.com has Waterloo.

I dont know i only can guess that the manufacturer maybe is www.techway.com.tw

Body design looks different, but battery pack, chuck, "torque setting ring" and switch look identical. Ok chuck probably from a chuck manufacturer but i guess I`m right (maybe :D) they also seem to make some tools for Matco.
If you type in the part number of the new Facom cordless tools you will find a "TUV" site and there is next to the Facom part number the Techway name.
So i think they also make them. The Hazet cordless tools were "invented" by Hazet for Audi i was told by a Hazet employee...

I`m too lazy to look on their site and see if i can find a bigger pic of the charger but if you click here and look in the "header" (?) (with the flash animation)
and then look here:

Cuánto cuesta por cinco o seis destornilladores ?? :D

@superautobacs:
if the store is near where you go i would check it out. If you go there without the promo prices in your hand they might sell the tools at regular prices. With the promo flyer you can show them the prices. You also have to add the sales tax of 19% if you look in the Gedore or Hazet etc. promo flyers. The Schuebo website is also without vat which has to be added. The TBS-Aachen prices are with vat included i forgot to mention.

@crustyD3mon:
Craftsman will be difficult to find here. They sell some lawn mower tractors here though.

@y20dth:
yes Hoffmann is good but only if you get a good rebate or buy when they have a promo.

If you know the zip codes you can enter them here for Gedore dealers and here for Hazet dealers. Stahlwille here . (select from the drop down list)

(Allenbach zip code --> 55758 ??)

I received my latest batch of tools today. I got a great deal on the Facom wrenches on Ebay. All 11 wrenches are brand new and I only paid $35 (including shipping). They are the older wrenches which are made in France :thumbup:. I also purchased a set of Wiha torx sockets and a set of hex/torx L keys. The packaging on the sockets says Wiha, but the sockets themselves are actually made by Heyco.

@Repairman: nice buy. Seems like you know what Facom to buy. The sockets look interesting. Were they in a Wiha Packaging?

Yes, I got them from the Wiha website. The packaging says Wiha torx set, but the sockets have Heyco on them. I am not sure why this is the case, although it makes no difference to me. They are still made in Germany.

I entered the zip code for my destination 57271 in the Gedore website and I got: Schünke & Bockmühl GmbH
So I googled the name and google map'ed the location. It turns out to be Schuebo, and the exact same one I found during my initial search. My initial search was simply google map'ing "Hilchenbach, Germany, tools". So, it looks like I'll be visiting Schuebo, which is just a few stops away on the local train. :)

@y20dth
Does that mean if I wanted something from Hoffmann, I can contact you with what I want, then you'll contact your rep, which will be able to ship to my German location?

Also, do you guys know if TBS-Aachen or others offer free shipping? How much does shipping cost in Germany?

@Maxipouce
Emsdetten is too far away, indeed. Lost of duplicates he has, and the sizes offered are bit too large for my application. :D

@Repairman
Nice price on those wrenches; good score. :thumbup:

Servus,

Thanks for the great contributions. Keep them coming. :thumbup:

Anyone here have Lindstrom stuff? I only know about their white-handled precision cutters that cost a fortune.

Not yet, but Lindström pliers are on my list. I tend to favor the RX line. Does anybody know how the Lindström RX pliers compare to the other Lindström pliers as well as to Knipex and Gedore precision pliers?

Lots, but never enough! :lol_hitti

Thanks !

I guess we suffer from the same disease. ;)

After watching the Festool Carvex videos I`m convinced that it is the best jigsaw ever built by mankind :D ! Really good features i think !!!

Me too, I think I will sell my Trion and get a Carvex. Hopefully, I will be able to check out the Carvex at the end of the month at a "Hausmesse" (show at a local dealer).

re: NOS Stahlwille: The store where i bought my deep offset box wrenches with the "Stronger than any bolt" forged into (btw www.hellwegen-holtzhausen.de )
I will wait until Hoffmann has a sale again , or print out the 2009 promo.... The 2010 promo is unfortunately not online.

Which Stahlwille NOS tools are you hunting for?
At least in Austria, there's no 2010 Stahlwille promo yet because the 2009 promo is valid until the end of June according to Stahlwille Austria.

@chreese: thank you for all the pics !!! The long slip joint IPS pliers look really nice. How do you like your new purchases ? ("Peacemaker" etc.)
I think I`ll order the straight version from IPS and the Keiba sidecutters from **** as well as the "screw pliers". Any other recommendation ?

Basically, I like all of my new tools.
The Gedore locking pliers weren't perfect out of the box. The set-screw was very tight but my dealer was kind enough to fix that for me. (I was on the road and didn't have access to my thread cutting tools.)
I also bought the Gedore 2093 U-3T "Quergriffknarre" lately. It feels good but sockets fit very sloppy. I don't own a second ratchet with such a loose connection.
As far as the other pliers are concerned, all of them seem to be well made but the Keiba pliers are really outstanding in my opinion. Yes, they are rather expensive but when I held them in my hand the very first time I immediately realized that my money was well spent.
In the long run I might add the more or less unique pliers (IPS Soft Touch, screw pliers etc.) since they could be useful. The Keiba pliers are not unique in this sense but nevertheless I don't think you will be sorry getting a few of them.

Now if you're into woodworking tools, **** has some fine stuff. I could use a LN No. 73 and No. 9 handplane , for instance. This Japanese hole cutter is another tool I would contemplate. I tried a buddy's one. It might be cheaper through Dieter Schmid though. And don't forget to get yourself one of these "Cutter-Sägen":

Cutter-Säge_01.jpg

Cutter-Säge_04.jpg

ps: what did you pay for the IPS slip joint pliers ?

HLS-300: EUR 17.55 + 19 % VAT - 3 % "Skonto"
HLB-300: EUR 18.60 + 19 % VAT - 3 % "Skonto"

The similar imported taiwanese Bahco ratchets and sockets are sold as "S-Line" which starts at about 30 euro a set. The higher priced sets/ratchets from Bahco are from argentina, the higher priced ratchets from Palmera etc. are made in Spain AFAIK (at least i saw a "Acesa" "712S" ratchet made in spain at a store here). So i think the cheaper imported line is for DIY use and the others for professional use. I only used my Bahco socket set about 3 times or so, it works, the connection between ratchet + socket is kind of sloppy though (1/4" square drive on sockets too big i think). So i cant say much, but i only paid 25 euro for this set at a fair and its worth the money:

How do you like the extension? Does it work properly?

@chreese:
Did you already saw the new Gedore 2010 promo tools "live" ?

No, unfortunately not, and I doubt that I will do because "my" dealers don't stock the whole Gedore (promo) program.
By the way, the promos seem to differ from country to country. Here is a link to the Austrian version (with prices).

@repairman:
great stuff !!!!!!!!!!! The Facom wrenches look really nice with the "France" on them. Without the "France" they only look half as nice :D ;)
nice Heyco sockets btw.

@Monte: Planning on fabricating something?

yeah always ;)
like this plate/holder for a sheet metal shear to clamp it to a vise:

or a extra shelf for my rack:

@superautobacs: yes it seems Schuebo is the closest with 8.1 KM. Next stores 12.59 KM away in "Siegen". www.hw-siegen.de + www.langenbachgmbh.de

TBS shipping is 3,95 for light and 5,95 for medium and heavy parcels. It seems they don`t offer free shipping.

@chreese:
i fell in love with the Mafell saw (just from the looks) but i think Festool is no. 1 again.

I`m basically looking for everything NOS and new stuff from Stahlwille :) there is no specific tool which I`m looking for - I´m happy with everything i can find :)
The Wille dealer here ***** - they only sell to companies and dont even have a cash register (Kasse) - you must have a account with them. A pic from the store...:
pwq1003.jpg

Thanks for your opinion on your tool purchases. The 1/4" Gedore tools seem to be generally more sloppy than from other companies.
Keiba is already on my wishlist because of the unique joint. The IPS prices are fair ! The "Razorsaw" seem to be a nice idea ! I might just get a replacement blade for 5,90 and add it to a snap-off blade knife (I`m greedy :D ).
Yes "****" has some nice stuff especially the japanese saws and knifes or the "Mokume Nomi" wood chisels for 180.- - 289.- € a piece :) or "Gränsfors" axes etc. (i want) :)

ok that`s still my favorite page from their catalog: :)
amp1016.jpg

Re: ""Bahco"" extension: mine has a square drive which is too big:
(it fits the Bahco sockets though because they`re too sloppy) I`ll get the Stahlwille extensions for my toolbox.

zwer12.jpg

the concept is nice though. So i added a 13mm Bahco socket and a few extra Bahco bits to the box from my Bahco bit-ratchet set.

Found some writing tools at home:

"MontBlanc" ballpen
amp1001.jpg

Old "Montblanc" set from the 1940/50`s. With fountain pen, ballpen and pencil.

amp1004.jpg

"Fend" (r.i.p.) made out of brushed aluminium. Fountain pen and ballpen made in germany.

amp1007.jpg

ps: a alternative to the Lyra pen would be the "Edding" version for about 3 - 4 €

A OLFA L Heavy Dutty Cutter....
Official Page here: http://www.olfa.com/splash.aspx

"The L-1 (OLFA's best selling cutter) was designed by Y. Okada, who determined the shape of the cutter after grabbing and holding hundreds upon hundreds stones along a river. Not by computer or some sort of scientific analysis, but just by picking up and founding stones along a river, the shape of this cutter was created. The L-1 and all OLFA cutters offer, therefore, the best comfort, hand-it control and ultimate cutting performance."

I aquire this in US but its a shame that here in Portugal i can't get blades to it...so i decided to use some Maped (France) blades in there...its not the same that the OLFA blades...but do the service...

I was on vacation visiting family in Germany last week and Monte was kind enough to find me some NWS retailers. The one store that actually carried them had a very limited selection.
