LG, what does the tip look like and what is inside the handle? I'm assuming not more oil...

thanks 2oolhound

The cap on the end of the handle is for filling and the handle is full of oil. Removing the cap on the handle you see a check ball just as you would on any pump oiler. The tube from the check ball goes up into the large part where the pump is. Pulling the trigger moves the dispenser tube actuating the pump. The end of the dispenser tube looks like any oiler with a bent tip except the tip is screwed in.

lg
no neat sig line

beatcad;
so you didn't like my pre patent "wobbly screwdriver" later sold by Douglas Aircraft Co.
or the trick tin snips Pete sold

here I'll try again;
a 22 1/2" long "rat tail" file, actually 5 files on the same handle! 4 of them are hollow, purchased new from Fa. Bossard in Zug, Switzerland
in '74, they are unmarked

how about a Purox 00 Aircraft Welding Torch, NOT a 00 D

with tips 1-5 and 6L, 7L (the 6L and 7L aren't in any of the Purox catalogs)
and these are the only ones seen by my Father since '28

add to that the interchangeable mixers;
>DA for O&A
>3-7 DA for O&A and tips 3-7
>A&H for air&Hydrogen or O&Hydrogen
>INJ for? got me?

the OO D only came with a DA mixer for O&A

want tin snips?
how about Thuillier Lefrants
oh on rare occasion you will see ring handled ones(they cut like duckbills)

then try to find the straight handled ones

then goto bent blades

and the rarest of them all

loop handled, bent blades made of tool steel,
marked in Art Deco writing "CoupeProfil" "Depose" and the company symbol

a French tool salesman came to Lockheed Aircraft Co. in 1928 and my Father special ordered them

no one had ever ordered a pair before.....they were expensive

anybody else have a Levin & Levin staking set? don't use it very often but its great when you need it

11/22, that would be 1/2" :evil:

If you meant 11/32, then maybe not so limited of an edition; Here is a pic of a pair in both, _V^_ and -VV-:

It is a 1/2" that was double stamped, hence the 11/22 marking. Unfortunately the wrench is 200 miles away, so no pic.

I am sure there are a few of these floating around, but I have a Pratt & Whitney spanner wrench for the push rod tube nuts on R985 & R1340 engines.

Just picked up this Hobby Craft lathe for $50. Neither I, or Red Leader (whom I consider an expert) can find evidence of this company or of any other lathes like this. I did find a breast drill online made by them though, similar vintage.

I had one of those too. That tool rest is extremely fragile, if you are planning to use it. You'll recognize mine, with a DIY rest made from 1 X 3/8" bar, painted brown. I had/have never heard of Hobby Craft again either........

No pictures, sold it ten years ago at a garage sale for $25, I think.

Think I'm the only one....

A Shure turntable calibration balance. Used to set the downward force on a stereo cartridge after installation in a turntable.

Nah, too many guys from AudioKharma on GJ. I have one also, and I'd bet I'm not the only other one. ;)

ps edit: Now the REAL rare one would be the gizmo for setting speeds up on R2R tape decks. Pretty sure I have that one floating around here somewhere...

I dont know where this one was made but it came from a great uncle. It was the community wrench for the farmers in the area for larger nuts and stuff.

Only one ive been around or come across looking at other pics.

Old, Odd, Rare, I dare say Obsolete though:

My Dad had a couple of homemade adjustable "crows feet" like that for oddball plumbing projects. I had no idea they were ever available commercially. Neat!

My contribution is this counterbore and pilot used for creating a flat sealing face when converting alloy motorcycle rims to use tubeless valve stems. Took forever to figure out the terminology to do what I wanted. I ordered these from an aviation tool supplier.

Very specific use, but they've been used and loaned out several times in my circle of vintage motorcycle riding friends.

Just shy by a 1/16 th of being 1 1/4 thick.
Id say weight is between 10 to 15 lbs by guessing.

Its atleast 50 years old but probably closer to double that. That uncle was in his 80's when he passed a couple years ago. My one uncle remembers it when he was a kid. The uncle that passed was a cc camp boy at one time so maybe it came from that time but i dont really know. I never asked and now wish I would have.

Some odd ones today: top and bottom in this pic, (although not many will have 4WR 4LN or 4BN Peterson vise grips either...)

Top: Boker, barrel nut pliers I suspect for cannon plugs.

attachment.php

Those bottom tongs are odd, closed the jaws meet at the tip and get the best grip with something about 1/8" thick in them. That also gets the grips a little more comfortable, as closed they are hard to grip at all, but I suspect these had extension grips at one point? possibly with scissor type loops? (or, what else could those inside grip notches be for? :dunno:

The only markings are: "A.G.5" and in front of that, a three leaf clover? Ring any bells anyone?

Tong faces are serrated finely for grip:

Not even sure what you'd call this old multi-tool but I think it's neat.

I think you have the original concept for the "new Xmas tool for Sears", only it is before TV... Would they hawk something like that on the radio back in the day? :dunno:

I can't match you on the 4" Peterson's, but I can raise you a 5WR though. Once owned by a guy named "Phil" who didn't take good care of his tools The other side is rust pitted). I thought that I had a 3", but it was chinese, and doesn't count. :D
