I have a 32” Samsung flat screen up on a shelf. My Grandchildren watch cartoons on it when they hang out with Pop Pop in the garage
No problems here in Alaska with a TV at really cold temperatures. I currently heat my detached workshop with wood until I get around to hooking up natural gas. I just don't turn on the TV until the temperature is above freezing. The shop is very well insulated, R69+ in attic, R38 walls (4" XPS on exterior of building), and after a week of no heating and sub zero temps with lows down to -10 to -25F the inside temp virtually never falls below 29F. TV works like a champ and I purchased the cheapest 40" Best Buy had about 5 years ago. A Best Buy sales guy told me if I had any concerns about it purchase the warranty plan and if the TV (flat screen) fails just make sure all of the condensation inside the TV evaporates before bringing it in for replacement. I don't purchase warranty plans, ever, and didn't this time either.Any of you guys have a flat screen tv in your cold garage or shop? I have a big flat screen I want to put in our 30' x 40' garage that is not heated in the winter. I have heard both ways , yes and no. Just wondering what some of you have experienced. Thanks
agree no tv just a radio or mp3 musici go to my garage to get away from the tv or sh**box as i call it.

I use the radio/MP-3 player in my garage for music & my laptop if I need to see how to do something I am working on.Would only be useful for streaming music, or the occasional YouTube video showing me how to do something.
I used to use a laptop in the garage for Youtube and such but after replacing 2 batteries, I bought a refurbished PC with Windows 10 from Best Buy for about $250 and wireless keyboard/mouse for about $20-30. I now use the TV as a monitor.I use the radio/MP-3 player in my garage for music & my laptop if I need to see how to do something I am working on.

Exactly! A little bit of self discipline goes a looooong way.I have one hooked up to an old laptop. I use it to cruise garage journal and other forums, and primarily listen to music on. Sometimes I'll jump on YouTube with it. It's really only a distraction if you let it be, and can definitely be a motivator to head out to the shop, take a look at other peoples projects while having your morning caffeine as you think about and plan your day.

Oh yeah! Although I don't listen to much music in the garage lately (or elsewhere) but when I do, I have some cds in the garage that are OLD blues and gospel! The kind that'll make you moan and groanI really don't want a TV out there. I don't watch any TV anyway. Cut the cord about a decade ago. Anymore you do need a computer however. No one puts a book in the box anymore and you need to look things up online....man I hate that. I don't have one yet, but I have had to go back to the house to look up how to change something.
Now music on the other hand I MUST have music. But the music I listen to you will never hear on any radio. Depending on the job it may be jazz, blues, old country, 50's, or vintage music of another nature. I really enjoy what I listen to that is "of another nature". I can't really describe it, but I will link a video of it.
If you are worried about it don't be. Modern music is much more vulgar words....this is classy. There are some great things out there that so many people have never listened to, this is good stuff.

There are some "modern" musicians that I like, but they are not popular. You will never hear their stuff on the radio. I also have not listened to the radio in years.Oh yeah! When I'm out cruising I like the old Motown music. I know some of the names of today's musicians but I honestly can't tell you any of the songs they sing. Very little of the music interest me.
I am not anti-TV I am just anti TV in the garage. If I am in the garage it is to do work not to watch the TV. We have a 65" TV in the living room & a 45" TV in the guest room. All you anti TV guys are worse than vegans with the preaching![]()
Mine has been in an unheated garage for probably five years with no ill effects.Any of you guys have a flat screen tv in your cold garage or shop? For me I find that television is self serving to elements of society that produce nothing, so the damn thing would be a horrible distraction to me. Music works when nothing else making noise (assembly times mostly). The other thing is that with only 1000 sq.ft. inside heated area every square inch of wall is needed for shelving or other functional things. No TV in the garage. I go out there to be able to concentrate on a project or goof off. Lot's of good music to stream.
