A couple photos below showing the latest updates:
1) Black compact refrigerator to match the toolboxes, etc.
2) Chrome/brushed adjustable height shop stools. These were one of those spontaneous finds at our local Costco warehouse.

You've got EXACTLY what I dream of posting here myself by July, 2009

Incredible detailed effort, buddy!

nytehawk,
Handsome space.
Well done.
Like the single minded color theory. Greys and blacks, with just an touch of an accent yellow to match the car.
Nice.

It looks nice. I like the new additions. If you spend much time in front of the workbench you might want those floor mats thicker and full length.

Looks great...Pretty much identical to what I plan on doing to my 2car. I'm curious where did you get your bench at? Looking for something very similar!

Also what type of wall cabinets are they?

Nice garage!! How did you get that floor to look so good? Let's see some pics of the your floor.

Thank you! The floor coating is actually nothing more than Rustoleum two-part consumer grade EPOXYshield. (Which I chose to omit the "decorative" flakes...) For more detail and photos, I provided a complete write-up on my experience which you can view at http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19599

At this point -- more than 3 years after applying the surface -- I must say that I am pleasantly surprised at its durability. Of course, I also took special care to preserve the concrete's cleanliness prior to applying the epoxy (see details in thread above). I figure that if/when my surface ever begins to flake or peel up, I will just cover it with one of the plastic tiling systems. One of the systems I've been looking at is http://www.swisstrax.com/.

Nytehawk I like your color combo. So much so I am going to clone it :) with some small variation.

Thank you! What do they say? Cloning is the sincerest form of flattery? Okay, something like that anyway... :) Seriously though, I am truly complimented. Shoot me a PM or reply on this thread if you'd like any of my paint color specifications or anything else. What you may not be able to see in the photos is that the ceiling paint is also a (much lighter) shade of gray that is in the same family as the two gray wall colors.

I'd love to see photos of yours when it's done!!!

I purchased the workbench from Costco.com a couple years ago. If I recall correctly, it cost ~$400 and is adjustable to fit 6', 7', or 8' length tops. (Current length is 8'.) I don't believe Costco.com still carries these workbenches, though I've seen a moderately similar one on the racks at our local Costco warehouse. I will see if I can locate the manufacturer and model information for my bench and post it back to this thread.

As for the cabinets, they are "Platinum Pro" Hanging 2-Door Cabinet Model 41493 originally made by O'Sullivan Industries. More information available in the thread located at http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19544. Look for the post from me on 6/30/08 at 6:26pm which contains a photo of the other five of these cabinets on my side garage wall just after installation. You should find this post ~2/3 of the way down page 2 of this thread.

Incidentally, I have been saving and am considering an upgrade to Baldhead Cabinets Limited Series for the cabinets over the workbench. You can check out these cabinets at http://baldheadcabinets.com/limited/limited_series.html.

Yes, I agree. I would like to have a 3'x8' diamond-tread anti-fatigue mats -- black with yellow edges -- laying in front of the workbench. However I've discovered they aren't cheap!

Then again, if I'm going to spend a lot of time in front of the work bench, that's what the shop stools are for! :bounce:

Okay, the workbench is Model #60396BBSS, manufactured by MBI in Chicago, IL. I cannot readily find a website for the company, but the paper that came with the bench says to call 800-229-9611 for parts.

And a correction to the length: the frame portion of this bench can be configured for 5', 6', 7', or 8' tops. (Again, I purchased it with the 8' top.)

Great! Thanks for the info. I really need the adjustability because I have a nook that I'm wanting to put the bench into and it is just a few inches shy of 6' wide....it would have been nice if it were a bit bigger but the wife had to have more space in the laundry room :) Anyways I've been having trouble finding something that would fit there where I didn't loose an entire foot. Sounds like I could probably make a bench like this work. I'm assuming it adjusts by the various holes that are drilled in the back cross supports. So I could make it 5'10" if I needed to...obviously I'd have to cut the top but that shouldn't be too big of an issue. It would be nice to make it look custom fit :)

I really like the cabinets they look nice and appear to be well built. While I haven't seen them I can't imagine what the BaldHead Cabinets would offer for such a $ premium?

Thanks again for the info. BTW I found the model number of the costco bench in one of your previous threads. You were right it doesn't appear to be available from costco anymore but I did find one that is very similar.

I'd love to see photos of yours when it's done!!!

I figured yours was two shades of grey but didn't know about the ceiling. I painted the ceiling white since I wanted as much light as possible inside. I have only one window in the shop area and it is 14' above the floor in the highbay. I am going to use white for the upper portion of the wall (got it done last night) and a "medium grey" for the lower wall, maybe a shade darker than yours. Thus the variation. I plan on installing a 1"x4" yellow "chair rail" around the perimeter and I am undecided on the 1"x6" kick board along the floor. I have considered black but it is hard to keep clean. I may just go with the same shade as the wall.

I chose to use the boards to help protect the walls from my roll around cabinets. Most of the stuff I load into the race trailer is in roller cabinets so that just adds a little more protection for the walls.

Nice S2K. Ever do any autox? For some reason I am fond of yellow :)

I have some pictures of the project at http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26350

Very nice! My ceiling is basically white -- it is a VERY slightly off-white shade of gray for the same reason as you mentioned: as much light as possible.

Thanks for the compliment on the Honda. (My license plate, incidentally is YLLW S2K.) I haven't autocrossed it yet, since I purchased it new just over a year ago and am still getting familiar with it. Truth is, I've dabbled just a little in both karting and autocross in the past, and am trying to decide whether I want to auto-x the S2k or get a TaG kart with hopes of eventually spending some time in 125 shifters.

Well, here are a couple of updated pictures. I needed to move in to get the car ready for Road Atlanta in Feb. Still have a lot of touch up paint and organizing (read as benches/cabinets/shelving) but I am in. :)

I used to autox against an S2k in my RX8 until they moved it up a class. We had a fun time. I don't autox as much these days since I get a much longer "fix" on track.

I haven't autocrossed since I got the IT car 12 years ago. Lots of fun for the money though!

Nice thread, just looking at y'all's cabinets; I need ideas for when the drywall goes up.
