Apologies for asking this here, but I wanted to get a UK view on this question.
I'm after some decent tool storage and don't want any of the cheap junk that you get in Homebase or the Halfords homebrand kit.

Any ideas of where I can buy a decent tool chest/drawers that doesn't cost the earth? Or what makes I should look at? Halfords Pro?

The Halford's Pro/Industrial stuff seems to get good reviews (seems some get damaged in delivery though). I just bought a Clarke HD side cabinet that seems very sturdy (certainly heavy).

If you don't mind used there's some interesting options on ebay from companies like Lista - who supply industrial customers as well as race teams (I just visited the Petronas F1 facility and it was all Lista cabinets). They're less blingy than the usual consumer brands, but far sturdier. I have a nice stack of orange Beta cabinets, but if I was starting again I'd look at some used Lista, Dexion, Bott etc...

How much do you want to spend Ollie?

It sounds ridiculous but at the moment as little as possible, everything in the garage is on a budget as I get used to mortgage payments!

I'd like to get a decent cabinet, maybe two if funds allow, and then build the rest of the garage surfaces around them as cheaply as possible.

Although I say cheap I don't mean poorly or badly constructed.

Thanks for the suggestions CanUK. I'll keep my eye out on everyones favourite auction site (unless there are better places to look?).

Mine has arrived also. Temp looked okay, but I haven't checked again since it's gone up in the garage. For about £20 shipped I'm very pleased (it was either this or a slightly larger KTM clock that had no temp or humidity).

View media item 24669

Interesting. I took that this AM shortly after it was delivered. Figured it was about right (somewhere between outside and inside temps). I'll go check now and see how it's reading in the garage.

EDIT: Temp now reads 7.5C and Humidity 84% in the garage. Local weather shows 7C and 87%, so not too bad at all.

So far keeping time well. Second hand is a tiny bit wobbly at the top of the clock, but then I wasn't expecting an expensive mechanism :)

Great review, glad your happy with it.

Could you please post a review on the product page, would be very helpful for other customers.

Then look for the the reviews tab

Guess my review of the temp stuck at 60F would be less welcome!

Not really.... if it is Italian like other Beta products it makes it much more appealing to me ;)

For £20 you might be expecting a bit much then. It's just a clock (an attractive one IMO) that most likely Beta have only added their name to. There is no COO.

It tells time with probably as much accuracy as any other inexpensive quartz movement, and that's no doubt better than any other bit of electronics that comes from Italy anyhow. Ever owned a Fiat?

Honestly the COO thing is getting waaaay OTT.

What is the country of origin on the wall clock?

Sorry but we dont know for sure, but for the price I would guess the workings would be sourced from china/taiwan and the aluminium surround and face made at Beta.

But if you want something more hand made and European, Ive always fancied one of these:

Bargain

We have a new special offer on Felo 6 Piece Ergonic screwdriver sets at just £20+VAT + delivery. (if you spend £30 incl VAT delivery is free)

The unique feature of the Ergonic handles is that they are slightly squishy and effectively mould to the shape of your hand for comfort and torque. If you haven't tried them yet, then now's your chance!

http://www.thefelotoolshop.co.uk

They are on the front page, please click on the large image. They come with a standard 15 year warranty.

Mark.

Fantastic offer on the Felo Screwdrivers.

I have an older set that is near 15 years old now. They have taken some serious abuse over the years and I would call them only worn in. I find the grip on the Felo's far nicer than Wera's.

Facom 3/8 socket set - £42 (inc VAT)

There are quite a few other decent offers on thetoolacademy.com, atm, if you take a browse.

Hi all,

I'm loving this thread. I spotted the set of 14 Facom spanners on Ebay, thought I'd see what people thought of them and it led me here! My spanners should hopefully arrive today.

Quite a number of deals posted months ago in this thread are still available so check them out if you haven't already done so.

Any idea what diameter the bar is on those pry bars?

There's some more information about them on the Beta website:

We have updated our Motamec.com Mega Deals on our home page. There all Teng tools this week to celebrate there launch on our site.

If you missed out on any of our previous deals, most are still priced very low in the specials section of our site.

We are having a lot of trouble sorting out the Facom range, geting pictures etc......but are working on it.

Thanks

I can see the Teng stuff under the Specials page, but nothing on the home page -in case that's what you intended. I've cleared my cache out as well :dunno:

The Beta creeper looks cool though. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on perspective) I drive a Honda so rarely need to get under it :D

The chisel and punch set looks a bargain, but alas - I already have those bases covered. :)
