Thats a good deal, which mower did you buy?
Haven't actually bought the mower yet but am looking at the DLM432CT2.

Pretty much bottom of the range as far as I can tell (makita don't exactly make things easy deciphering their range).

It's a brushed motor but for the size of my lawn, nearly double the price for brushless doesn't really add up. Cheapest I can see at the moment is now £365 from powertoolworld.

The DLM460 looks good too, brushless and a steel deck. Generally better construction from what I've read so probably a better machine overall.

The price jumps considerably though up to £650.

Both include the dual station charger and 2 batteries (4 by redemption).

I'm still on the fence to be honest. The 460 is what I really want but really not sure whether the extra cost is justified as my lawn isn't exactly huge. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to cut so the extra runtime of the brushless motor probably isn't needed. Heavier duty construction is always appealing but I can't see it having a hard life so probably not needed in my case.

On the other hand, the strimmer has been out for a couple of outings so far and so far so good.

Lower rpm than the 240v that I'm used to but it definitely does the job. It's nice and light and overall I'm really happy with it. Only negative so far is the guard isn't all that effective. Shoes full of grass isn't the end of the world though.

Cordless is definitely the way forward. I'm eyeing up a hedge cutter too which is also in the free battery deal. Its hard to know when to stop lol.

Think I would opt for a plastic deck over steel for a mower.

I have the DLM380, which was one of the first cordless mowers they did.

Works fine on dry grass and at medium length, doesn't have the power if a little wet or too long. But even needing to do it a few times a week was no bother.

How do you find the runtime on yours? Is it still the 36c motor?

I went for the DLM432 this morning.

The metal deck would be nice but there's just no need for what I'll use it for. If you're carting the thing around in van or whatever then it might be worthwhile.

I hate cutting the grass. It's like outdoor hoovering.

I also hate hoovering.

Anything that makes the process easier or quicker is most welcome and a lighter mower I think, comes under that category.

Although I would have preferred the brushless motor, again no really need as my lawn takes no time at all to cut so I'd never see any really benefit.

I did get a bit carried away and also ordered a hedge trimmer.

The hedge trimmer is definitely worthwhile as I spend more time untangling myself than actually cutting the hedges at the moment. A portion the hedge grows alongside a footpath passed my house and I'm always wary of having the power cable strewn across the path while I'm cutting so cordless makes a lot of sense.

I don't know why I'm justifying it, this of all places is somewhere where new tools need no justification!

Yes it's the 36v mower.

I only used the two 1.5ah batteries on my mower and it did 50sqm of lawn without stopping. So probably 15 minutes run-time.

I too have picked up a strimmer, top handle chainsaw and hedge trimmer along the way...

I think when the 40v Makita garden stuff eventually hits the market, that will be amazing stuff.

I reckon it only takes me 15 minutes to cut the lawn anyway so the 4x 5ah batteries that I'll end up with should be sufficient [emoji23]

The cost of the kit with batteries is always slightly higher than I'd like it to be, free batteries make the world a better place.

I'd love a chainsaw but I reckon I have a choice of either a chainsaw, or both of my hands.

At this time, I'm sticking with my hands lol

THANKS! I bought 1 but it's still going for same price. I don't know much about Unior other than they're well regarded in the bicycle tool world.

Well spotted @mr.lemons
KS Tools 960.1160 Micro soldering terminal set £13.98

Looks to be a good price reduction. Not sure if it's priced well or not, as the same iron may be available under different brand names at different prices. :dunno:

BGS 2224 | Socket Set | 12.5 mm (1/2") Drive | 8 - 32 mm | 27 pcs. £20.10

Only 1 left in stock.

Think this is about half price. £38 on ebay. No idea what the quality is like.

dyjdtyjfdtyjyutjghyj.jpg

Looks like the generic far east tools you see sold as us-pro, bergen, or all sorts of germanic sounding names in boxes on marketplace. If so, the quality is absolutely fine and basically indestructible, but not particularly nicely finished in my experience. I've beaten on some us-pro ratchets over the years and given a load away as Xmas presents and never broken one.

We should probably have a UK tools chat thread.

I've got a set of small 'Engineer' snips recently. Really impressed with the quality. Dare I say nicer than the small knipex I've got.

I would imagine these pliers will be the same quality and a bargain at that price

Price from Amazon is £17.02. You can order them at this price, but they are out of stock. I would think they would get these in stock again as they are popular, but the order may get cancelled. Last time I posted an out of stock item, it didn't work out.
