Not sure how I ended up on Tapatalk exactly, it coincided with my no longer using the laptop very much after getting a tablet. Using the browser on the tablet made everything so tiny and unreadable (this was years ago). On a forum, it came up with "open in Tapatalk", so I got the app and tried it. Of course, all the forum background stuff is missing, just a plain white page, but I could read the print. So, that's where i've been ever since. It does make using multiple forums easy, auto logging in, etc.
Until yesterday, i'd never been on the browser version of GJ, or a couple others I hit.
But, it looked good, and was easily usable.

I guess forums are now more smaller screen friendly.
Might be time to go do some looking, revisit whether the app is still the best way.

Note to da boss - pop-up and header Advertisements are back for the members - I'm being hawked stoves and other stuff on various banners... happened when I clicked on "free parking", checked to make sure I was still logged in (which I was) and the ad was there... Grrr.... And no, I don't really care about Angelina Jolie's babydaddy's new mistress, or the 100 ways to toss a creative salad...

Yes… Free Parking has always had ads. Even on the old format… You should not, however, see ads anywhere else.

I apollogize, I didn't read all 7 pages - did we lose some posts in the change-over? I had started a thread in Free Parking asking for help finding a "Buy Once Cry Once Hose Nozzle" and it's gone, Google can't even find it.

As far I know, we lost 5 threads and 39 posts….

I am not a computer person, but just a few things for now.

When I go to the GJ on my phone, the GJ comes up but the screen is so dark I cannot read anything; of course if I use my home screen everything is working a ok. Even to log in on my small phone is next to impossible because I cannot see the screen to log in. Am I doing something wrong ?

I have said this before but it never hurts to ask again; being color blind the new colors bother my old eyes, is there any way to go back to the old colors of blue/white ? (much easier on the eyes.

I want to change my location but I can not figure out how to do, I am thinking you will have some kind of help guide for pictures and how to change things.

Thank you again for helping an old geezer out.

New site looks good to me and I do appreciate knowing the reason for doing so--security & support are very important. Thanks for your efforts. I have one question: the old site used to have the ability to show all posts in a thread, instead of just choosing page X. Is that an option with the new software?

I don't know if this has been brought up already. When I click on a thumbnail pic, it brings up full size pic and also has arrows to go to additional pictures farther down the thread from a different poster?

Yep, with XF's photo manager you can scroll through all the pics posted in the same thread, just like how you can scroll to see all the photo attachments in a text message on mobile phones.

I'm not going to try multiquote right now.

re: TapaTalk

I'm NOT using TapaTalk. Just the Samsung browser on a Samsung Android phone.

I might have been looking on GJ for maybe 10 minutes now. LOL.

Mostly usable on my cell phone IF I tell my Samsung browser to use the Desktop version/flavor of GJ. I can scroll, see more then 3-4 lines at a time, I can zoom in if I want/need to.

NOT usable (too big, missing info/fields) if I try to use the Mobile version/flavor of GJ.

I'll have to see how things go. I'll let you know. LOL

Go have ONE weekend beer and relax a bit Ryan. And mods or elves who are assisting. LOL

Later all.

I want to change my location but I can not figure out how to do, I am thinking you will have some kind of help guide for pictures and how to change things.
Click on "woody 73" up top on the right side of the menu bar.
Select "Account Details."
Look for "Location", and type in what you want.
Click "Save" at the bottom.
Hope that helps.

Ryan, when I preview a reply, it shows in the previous narrow interstate font.
No big deal, but an oddity for sure.
It still posts correctly obviously.

Ditto on the preview.

I have a question about the private messages/conversations. Do I understand correctly that they aren’t private?

One button says it will allow anyone to enter the conversation, the other button makes it so no one can reply to the message. Not even the recipient of the message. I’m confused LOL

Private messages are private. PRIVATE. What makes you think they aren’t? I can’t access them… Hell, I was even subpoenaed once and couldn’t help.

Here’s some answers for ya:

No idea why you would want to send a private message and not allow the recipient to respond, but there ya go….

I'm happy you're getting enough boxes checked off, Ryan, to be able to put back the blue-star icon in my Chrome open tabs. That's a familiar friend and makes it easy to find the GJ tab.

Here's hoping your being able to work on little stuff like that is a good thing in your migration project!

I agree, I don’t understand why It wouldn’t allow the recipient to respond..lol I would rather it not allow anyone else to enter the conversation other than the person I’m messaging. Why would you invite other people into a private message? Makes no goddamn sense LOL

The invite makes perfect sense.

Lets say you are having a private conversation and you ask Bob a question.

Bob answers, "Hell, I don't know... I think Bill does!"

So you can invite Bill into your private conversation and y'all can figure that **** out...

OK, I guess that makes sense. I somehow feel violated though that someone else can join in a private conversation LOL I’ll get over it.

You feel violated that you have the ability to invite people into your private conversation? I don’t understand that.

BUT, I don’t have too… You know why? Because you also have the ability to turn this function off. All you have to do is click the check box I circled in red in my reply above.

Rad, right?

Yeah, but when I click that box the person I PM’d can’t reply. It’s a worthless box if you ask me LOL

I miss spoke, but you get what I mean. It makes no sense to send a message no one can reply to.

but they can always message you back in a new PM, can't they?

You bastards just want me to take options away - don’t ya? Trying to make me some kind of a commie dictator... I see your tricks… and it won’t work. I will continue to throw freedoms at you until you LIKE IT!

🤣

I didn't see that I had a PM. unlike in VB, you don't get a notice smack dab in the middle of the screen.
yeah, I did open your profile & send a new message.
I think in VB you could add a party to the PM s when you replied. this perhaps is a more secure way?? I dunno

In VB you could forward the message, just like an email.
