Question
How does Ignore work?...[ ]...And what if that person is the thread starter? Would I not see the whole thread?
Suggestion
Would it be possible to add a function to permanently "Ignore" ("Hide"?) entire threads from view in a forum?...[ ]...If we could permanently "Hide" or "Ignore" threads from view, it would make the experience more efficient, effectively reducing the size of the forum to only Watched threads and new threads, until one decides to either Watch them, Hide them, or just let them ride.
So everyone else who has always used the "Ignore" function may already know this..., but I answered my own question above.
I just discovered that if you ignore someone, not only do you not see their posts in someone else's thread, you don't see any of their threads if they're the thread starter/OP! Their threads are just not in your view of the forum list. I know that most GJ'ers probably ignore GJ'ers for other reasons (oil and water, someone just pissed them off or rubs them the wrong way etc), but this happens to be VERY advantageous with respect to my suggestion for controlling/personalizing your forum list.
Let's say, for example, there's someone who posts exclusively about XYZ on the Vintage Board, and he has eight (8) different XYZ related threads that he often seems to update at the same time, and those threads often stack up on Page 1, crowding everything else out. If you have ZERO interest in XYZ, and you ignore him, those threads will not show up on your Page 1!
The reason why it would be necessary and helpful, in my opinion, to be able to ignore/hide specific threads, is most GJ'ers are more diverse. They may have a few threads you have no interest in that always seem to clog up Page 1, but they may have a few threads you like, so you wouldn't want to ignore the user, just specific threads.
