hi @Ryan

i'm having an issue creating a thread in general garage discussion.

i tested this from an essentially vanilla firefox config in private browsing mode.

when i try to submit it, a modal comes up that says:

Oops! We ran into some problems. Please try again later. More error details may be in the browser console.

it looks like something is internally hitting a 503 when POSTing.

here's my console log (yes, it actually echoed that html error page in the console, lol):

Thats a strange one… and I can’t reproduce it.

This happens every time you try to start a thread in GD and only in GD?

I just created a script that does this... creates a list of users that are being ignored, how many people are ignoring them, and by who...

Pretty interesting to see that the same people that cause me problems are the same people being ignored by the most people. I'm going to use this as a ban bar of sorts for those guys that can't seem to avoid drama and politics.
Only available to be seen by you (Admin), all staff or all members ?

Mobile version still looking good but still trying to learn to navigate moderation duties on mobile

... Stylebot is an example for Chrome, but there's plenty of options...
...
Thanks! I use Safari but i found there is Cascadea for that; just $3.

Biggest problem I have is the vintagey background. It seems that rather than being a BODY background = whatever, it's an image that is constantly being repositioned by JS as the screen is scrolled to look like it is stationary, but I get wicked flicker and jumping around. With Cascadea, I would either do away with it or maybe find a way to make it truly static. Sounds like a fun project.

essentially, it gives your browser permission to notify you of such things as a new private message, reply to your post, etc…
As long as Drives broached the subject, why would we need to do that? I've been ignoring it, I have not granted permission, and I see all those notices and alerts when I click on the bell icon.

I'll toss this out in again, not sure if I missed it being discussed again, but is it possible to limit the default / initial size of images that people insert in their posts? I love the feature of being able to re-size with dragging the corners once I've inserted the images, but I get the distinct impression that 99% of people just take the huge default size and roll with that, maybe because they don't know they can re-size it.

I feel like it hurts readability with some of the really big photos, but maybe that's just me. I think shrinking the default insertion size would be an easy way to limit this. People can of course still enlarge things if that's what they really want, but at least it won't be the default.

This is more of a confirmation of liking new features than a suggestion. I use "Snip & Sketch" a lot, now screen grabs can be pasted directly into a message I am composing. Nice!

maybe i'm in the minority, but i'm running into the 24h edit limit.
would you consider increasing it again? kind of a bummer to have to wait 24h to edit things again. probably won't remember what i wanted to add/improve.

or can it be done on a per-user basis? lol

Is it possible for you to make a change that would allow us to see a users location by their name and avatar like we had on the old site? Some will opt out which is fine but being able to tell what state or region someone is in is very helpful to answer all sorts of questions.

It's there, just not visible on a phone screen due to the formatting. You can tap on a username to see it in a pop up

Can you see it on your computer?

Have you tried rotating your phone into landscape mode? When I do this, the "full" view shows up, with the user's location underneath their avatar.

Can you make the "Threads below have not been updated since your last visit" stand out a bit more; maybe the lettering in bold or a brighter shade of yellow for the background? Thank you

On another forum years ago, an admin figured out how to make a particularly irritating member invisible. He kept posting, and he saw his own posts, but no one could see them. It was pretty funny when people slowly realized what had happened.

It was more embarrassing than a one-month suspension, but the lesson didn't last. He eventually got banned anyway.

Ryan,

I just want to thank you again for all the work you did to get us onto this platform. I've really come to appreciate the new format and the features it offers!

Ryan,
As always, thank you for your efforts.
I seem to remember the old site having the thread title at the top of every entry. Is that something the new software does? Is that something you want to do? It was handy when I opened a bunch of tabs at the last entry, and then started wondering where I was. Still would be.
TIA,
Kay

Hi Ryan — Thanks for all the good work. Looks like it will be nice after some tweaking.
Two things I used to be able to do —

1) Set my own personal choice for posts per page. I had it set at 40.
2) Hide all avatar pictures. I really appreciated having this option.

Thank you for all you do!

Both are smart features... and I should have both. I will add them to the list.
Hi @Ryan! The new site has been great! I wanted to check back on these items— I seem to remember the personal per-page setting being difficult, or something you gave up on. But I don’t remember seeing a resolution on hiding all avatar pictures. Any chance you could make that happen?

Thanks for all you do!

Hi Ryan,

Just ran into a very strange error that has never happened to me before.

This thread...

...is not showing up on my view of the Vintage Tool Discussion forum or in my Watched list.

I was in the main forums view. I saw that it had gotten updated by Old Radar, because it was the most recent activity next to his avatar in the Vintage Tool Discussion. When I clicked on the Vintage Tool Discussion, it was not at the top of the list. It is still not showing up anywhere in my view of that forum. When I went to my Watched list, it is not showing up there, either. I am getting Alerts for it, but I cannot see it on my Watched list or in the Vintage Tool Discussion list.
