I thought this was the VIRGINIA garage gang? If it's exclusive to Northern Virginia then you should call it the NOVA garage gang....

Nope - I don't think that it is exclusive - I would suppose that ANYONE who wishes to come would be welcome. It just so happens that there are many people who participate here are from the NoVA area. That's all.

Whoops my bad -

I just re-read the very first post...

"Welcome Northern Virginia Garage Journal members."

I guess that explains a lot...

That's pretty much what I'm saying. You are either the NOVA Garage gang or the VIRGINIA garage gang. You guys in NOVA seem to have that kind of attitude as though the Commonwealth begins and ends around the Beltway.

I don't think it was Northern Virginia exclusive, we pulled off here becuase we had highjacked someone else's thread. You're welcome to come to any of the events if you want to drive up. Hell, we'll even let Marylanders, DC scabs and WV sister chasers come as well. In all seriousness, as nice as some of these guys shops, homes and cars are, I haven't met a single one with attitude. There's also a Virginia Garage Gang Social Group, again, you're welcome to join, not NoVa exclusive.

Sounds good, Richmond is a nice drive to knock the cob-webs off of a car for spring anyway :D

Virginia is Virginia, just happens that most of the people on the board are in Northern Virginia and have met-up for some garage get-togethers in the past. I'm in the Lynchburg area about every other month, and if someone was down there and I was in-town, I'd gladly try to stop buy if time provided.

Another good option was if someone near VIR had a garage get-together the same weekend as a race weekend....hmmmmm ;)

We're more than NOVA...

Agree with Ryan, we welcome anyone that wants to talk about their garages, any form of transportation, or just about any reason for like minds to get together.

While the core group was mostly in Northern Virginia I was reluctant to call it a NOVA group - in Spanish Nova means "no go" so calling the thread Nova just seemed wrong.

If anyone really wants I'll edit the first post and change it. But all are welcome to join in the fun and chat via this thread.

I wouldn't say that at all. I meet every Friday at a place where they have everything from rat rod motorcycles to exotic Porsches. 30/40 cars.

I've been on here a while and I don't know how I missed this thread. I'm here in Manassas. Here is my garage build thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34844

How do you get in the social group?

Also any locals electricians? I could use some direct advice after looking at what I have.

Always willing to get together and see other folks ideas in person. Also anyone and everyone is always welcome to lend a hand getting this thing finished. As someone said before 4 hands make things go 3 times faster then 2.

This is a Conestoga Building package which includes the roof. I had them extend the roof overhang on the gable ends from 12" standard to 18".

http://www.conestogabuildings.com/

Conestoga also has an option to install insulation under the metal roof which I chose. For $1700 on a 36 x 28 building I thought it was a decent value.

That's a nice setup you have there to me. I really like the style..

Cool deal, I used to live in Sterling, in a one-car garage town-house. Stuffed 2 motorcycles and my 914 in there. Best of luck, organizing is the key.

I'm interested. Busy summer schedule though. Once I get my engine back from the shop and get back from the next few weeks of travel I might be able to host. Sometime in July. Tough around the holiday though.

I'm up for something but in and out the next few weekends and hosting a family in transition between their homes, so regret it would be difficult for me to host right now.

As a side note, I'm currently restoring an enclosed trailer (bought it in rough condition but for a good price). When done it will be my garage on the go. I've taken pictures along the way and plan to post when I get a chance.

We can hang out at my place again after i get finished up with some paint work. Made the lift area into a paint booth and am painting the race car project. Just finished the shell and now onto the many fiberglass parts.

Should be done in a few weeks and finally on to the fun parts. Reassembly and test and tune.

Seriously? Heck! I'm just across the river north of Leesburg and have been lurking here for some time. I'm always interested in learning how to do things better.

This is a friends car on the lift but you get the gist of the garage.

OK, any interest in a get together on June 27th or 28th in the Ashburn area, any preference to date. We can hang in the garage and poolside.

Count me IN!! Especially for the 27th. The East Coast GJ meet was supposed to be on that date, but has been cancelled. Besides, I'm in Ashburn :)

Obviously your priorities are all wrong, but we all know the boys will understand much better than the future Mrs. will. Congrats and look forward to seeing you next time.

R1chy

PS - Hope you've bought a fair number of toys, cause after marriage you can't buy any new one's outright, you have to trade in an old toy to get to a new one.

Damn, I'm in Ashburn too but I'll be in Michigan getting married that weekend. Have fun!
