Nice grinder setup. Do you sit down to grind?

I like the adjustable tool rest. I always just grind tool steel freehand and it works OK, but that looks easier. Is that a diamond wheel?

Mostly I use carbide inserts because I'm lazy but you have to be able to grind tool steel or you're limited to the inserts available.

I didn't understand your heater video. What is the fuel?

Vieux like you tool holder. Looks like the one I built for my South bend lathe several years ago. I welded my handle to a large nut for lock down bolt in order to save time building. Shure beats a rocker style tool post and the cost of the commercial ones.

Yes, to sharpen the cutter has to sit down. I had a stock of cutting tools made of high speed steel. In the future I plan to buy the under cutters carbide inserts. My lathe is designed for small tools (12x12mm) and so we are hard to find these holders. Have to order in China. On the sandpaper I use a diamond wheel. As fuel for the heater used gas.

Thanks! What is the model of the lathe you have South bend?

Little job for the evening. Fitting for Mitsubishi brake barrel. You can buy this fitting, but it does take time. And need here and now. So I had to do a new piece. Made two choices turned out so well. Tomorrow will give to the customer.

Nice work. I make little things like that when it is expedient. It really feels good to get something done and installed before you could have gone to get one.

Thanks for posting:thumbup:

Vieux: your garage is about the same size as mine and you rebuilt a car in yours. WELL DONE SIR!!

also I noticed your 30 ot 6 maybe sitting next to your bench and had to ask is that for safety or in case you need to ask a few of your neighbors for parts. sorry to make light of what must be a very tough situation, but you had to know I or maybe others would ask.

Drives, if you are referring to the rifle on the wall behind the car, it's a Gamo break-barrel pellet gun. I have a similar model in a synthetic stock. I asked the same question maybe 2-3 years ago after finding this great site!

Cheers

Yes, you're absolutely right. This air rifle Gamo hunter 440. It is for recreational shooting and for hunting small pests. I still have a PCP rifle Hatsan at 4410. The video is here

You Sir, have done some extreme work to your garage and in the garage. It pleases me to find that I am not alone when space is at a premium and money or the economy has us make sure that we take care of our selves with what we have and what we can do ourselves.

It is hoped that you continue to share the garage solutions to so many problems that some people just throw money at.

This thread and this forum is a real learning experience. You contirbute to making it so.

I would share a small Vid of my "small garage" but do not want to hijack your thread.

Wishing you well.

Seems you have fame.

Can be :D

Fame, yes; but wine too [emoji106]

I have not tried this wine, I hope it's great

Several small projects for the weekend. Winter has come and we must take care about birds. Was done a couple of feeder. I hope the birds like it.

The process of manufacture of the feeders is interrupted for tea and viewing the garage journal :)

Was repaired bracket for surveying equipment for my friend. In the photo it is clear what was the problem and how it was repaired.

Today some time is spent to parse the mess that is happening in my rack. Made a few additional shelves. At first it looked so.

After a bit of work began to look like this

Another one of my little hobby. Make handles for chisels , small gifts for friends from a tree.
I work in the wood lathe. Cheap Chinese lathe. It turns out is not very good, but I'm just learning.

I have a South Bend Heavy 10. It came with everything except a tool post grinder and collets. I got the collet holder but not the collets. I have a tool post grinder now and have used it to sharpen lawn mower reels. I am using carbide insert cutting bits that are replaceable in the tool itself. You can get the bits and tool from ENCO manufacture supply are you familiar with it. They are the best quality I find for a reasonable price. Go to my GJ thread Model A Ford Garage to see a picture of the lathe. Bobby

Nice work on the bird feeders. Fill them up with seeds and you will have many feathered friends to watch your work.

Thank you! I'm sure it will

1/2 Cup Thank you for taking the time to look and to appreciate my modest success.

I asked myself. What can be made from old rusty pipes and sheet metal remnants? If you think a little you can make a very useful thing

We have winter came, the cold -10 degrees Celsius and snow, the garage looks like this...

We had our first frost of the season this morning. Thermometer said 36F by the time I looked outside, but there was still frost in the shadows. Two weeks ago we had highs of 90F! This has been the warmest year on record in the Phoenix AZ USA area. No snow, but last Saturday evening we had 1.25" of rain, 40 MPH wind and the temp dropped from 65F to 43F in 15 minutes. Highs the next day were around 50F . Welcome to winter?

Nice rack for a great set of screwdrivers. I like Klein tools, but our local big box stores are closing out what used to be a huge inventory of the complete line, I also use Knipex wire cutters and pliers at work, better than anything I've found at any price!

Nice tool Vieux.

We have -4 outside now. No snow. Yet.
Thanks! -4 is not much, but you probably have high humidity.

I feel your pain Vieux. Today we have rain, last week -15C , and 30 cm of snow.
I don't really like winter

Yes, it's a good screwdriver. In Russia you can buy them in just a few cities. In my town the Klein tools no sale. These screwdrivers was sent to me from the USA my friend. I am very grateful to him for this gift.

Yes, can say welcome to winter.

Nice tool rack!

Looks chilly at your garage! Do you still have lots of neighbors in the winter or is there less garage usage?

Thank you! Yes, winter is cold. Thanks to the gas heater in my garage heat +15C +20 C. Few people use garages in the winter, I have a few regular neighbors. A couple of garages from my neighbor has been manufacturing furniture in the garage.

Bears Fan Thanks!

Again from different waste doing useful things. This time I used trimming of sheet metal and an empty bottle from under pneumatically bullets. Get a soldering iron stand with a jar of rosin.

Bought a useful device. Now I always know the time, temperature in the garage and on the street

Those weather stations are nice to have. I have one in the house as well. I suppose I could just step outside to see how cold it is in winter but there is some fun in knowing the exact temperatures, humidity, plus the time.

Howdy Vieux from South Central Texas!

I just now happen to come across this thread and have really enjoyed reading up on all the post. I have to hand it to you, with limited space, money and time (which, believe me "we all encounter") you have shown and proven (an yes even have inspired) others that you work with what you have and make the best of it. :3gears:

You definitely have shown that you don't let things get you down or prevent you from accomplishing your goals. :D

Excellent work and ethics!

Press on my man! :rocker: ......and an early "MERRY CHRISTMAS"!

I'm glad your wife liked it :)

Frost on the street and in my garage heat.

Almost live broadcast from my garage about making a new switch for my milling machine. The machine was like a switch.

I decided to make a new one which can turn on the reverse mode of the engine.

A little finishing putty, some primer and grey paint. And almost all are left to put the joystick and connect the wires.

And again a little view of my garage.
