Here’s a vintage x-acto decal. The set belonged to my grandfather.

Nice to see another one, Jim. Looks exactly like the one I just posted, but in much, much better condition. As pristine as the set, and an heirloom to boot! Congrats. "X-Acto" was trademarked in 1943, first use claimed 1936, if you're wondering how old it is. Based on my research, we have the earliest versions of the logo and the fitted box sets. Although our sets are a little different from each other. I have dated mine with the metal blade holder that folds up and down on the lid to 1944. Yours with a permanent wooden blade holder may be a bit newer. You can read more about the history of the company and see some period ads here.

Hey Lugz,

Unbelievable!! I stopped reading the thread last night and without checking it this morning, I went out in the shop and found a few things with vintage stickers and decals. When I came across that x-acto set, I thought I had something a little different to post. I guess you beat me to it!! Sorry about that, I didn’t mean to step on any toes. Also thanks for the background info. It’s always interesting.

Haha. That is quite the koinkydink! And no need to apologize. I didn't take it that way at all, Jim. I was genuinely happy to see another set.

Don - As you know, I'm not a big Barcalo collector, but that script logo is definitely one of the coolest there is, and so may of the coolest logos from the elder statesmen of the US mfgrs didn't make it past WWII, so it's extra special to see it in the vinyl era (referring to that black Handy Kit).

It appears that when Sears started selling RHFT ratchets, the initial offerings were tagged with a sticker touting their unique features. The ratchets depicted below are the 1/2” and 3/8” versions. There was a 1/4” size too. I have yet to see one with the advertisement sticker.

(I would've said Cornwell, most prominently, but you know where those are headed, eventually! :))

I hope sooner than later! Speaking of Cornwell, I guess I could have posted this badge as well.

Thanks, Lugz. There were a couple more that I left out. The emblem on wood is from the tool board I received from Tin Medic.

Participation in this thread has dropped off recently but I’ve gathered a few more images to post. I doubt that anyone else will be posting this first one.

I’ve added these to my small collection. The box had a very good None Better label and I haven’t seen a brochure from them before. I’m guessing 30s or 40s.

There's not enough of the right kinds of tools on that one page with enough detail for me to help you do any better than that dating it. Nice box and brochure.

I always forget about this thread. It's a hard one to post in when most posts by brand or type like to show logos and decals. Here's one on a little box that had a 3" diameter miter head from a Bridgeport mill. Has that classic late 40's or 50's water transfer look you see on the decals on vises and hand crank grinders.

A few more from Snap On. I’m guessing that’s a pretty rare Mechanikit decal from Motor Tool Specialty Co.

Here is an Oldforge decal from a contract prewar set of 3/8” deep sockets supplied by S-K.

Old for anything I have would mean something since World War II. I may have something earlier than that but offhand I can't think of what that would be. It is fun to look at all the decals and stamped steel plates. I do like the 50s 60s and seventies speed equipment stickers and decals. One of my favorites in that line of advertising memorabilia would be the Vintage Crane Cams slingshot dragster with what appears to be an Ibis bird with an old crash helmet on the drag strip. I knew Harvey Crane and his family when his business was in the Miami Fort Lauderdale area.
