Nice to see another one, Jim. Looks exactly like the one I just posted, but in much, much better condition. As pristine as the set, and an heirloom to boot! Congrats. "X-Acto" was trademarked in 1943, first use claimed 1936, if you're wondering how old it is. Based on my research, we have the earliest versions of the logo and the fitted box sets. Although our sets are a little different from each other. I have dated mine with the metal blade holder that folds up and down on the lid to 1944. Yours with a permanent wooden blade holder may be a bit newer. You can read more about the history of the company and see some period ads here. Here’s a vintage x-acto decal. The set belonged to my grandfather.

(I would've said Cornwell, most prominently, but you know where those are headed, eventually!)

Don - As you know, I'm not a big Barcalo collector, but that script logo is definitely one of the coolest there is, and so may of the coolest logos from the elder statesmen of the US mfgrs didn't make it past WWII, so it's extra special to see it in the vinyl era (referring to that black Handy Kit).
There's not enough of the right kinds of tools on that one page with enough detail for me to help you do any better than that dating it. Nice box and brochure.I’ve added these to my small collection. The box had a very good None Better label and I haven’t seen a brochure from them before. I’m guessing 30s or 40s.
Here is an Oldforge decal from a contract prewar set of 3/8” deep sockets supplied by S-K.
