Hopefully, Hiball will get in touch with you soon.

I can't supply a reseal kit, but I think this is the parts list for your jack.

Hi all,

I came across this site looking for some information about my old floor jack. So far it looks like I not only found a wealth of information about floor jacks but a whole lot more as well. I look forward to checking things out and doing a lot of reading when I get time.

Anyway, I have had this jack sitting around for so long I don't even remember where I got it in the first place. I originally assumed it to be fairly old since it is mechanical but have begun to think it is more recent than I believed. There doesn't seem to be any markings on it to identify it other than the "Walker" name painted on the top.

While looking I have found a bunch of information on hydraulic jacks but very little about mechanical jacks. This is nowhere near as cool as some of the great old jacks I have seen here and elsewhere but I would like to find out anything that I can about it.

If anybody can help I would appreciate it.

I can't help you at all but that thing is just cool looking, it looks like a tank or something. I would blast that and paint it and keep it in my living room!

Danver,

Your jack looks like it might be this Vertilift model. If you are interested in the original two page ad, send me a PM.

Awesome, thanks. I missed this when it was posted. Thanks for letting me know to check it. Having a name and model should help in finding more information about it.

In fact, a search already found an old post right here in the forum with some great pictures.

I wonder if mine was modified at some point with the base and wheels or if Walker later sold it with the wheels? Now that I have something to work with I will have to take a closer look at mine and see how it was put together.

I have a Walker 770A I took it apart because it would not lift. That was 3 years ago , I am still searching for parts.
There are no " O " rings in my jack. 2 rubber plungers and gaskets, several ball bearings and a spring . My guess is your trouble in in the valving in the back of the pump. It should be safe to disassemble the rear to clean it out. I would not disasemble the rams if they are not leaking

Found a Walker roll a car in the scrap yard. Gave them 40.00 and hauled it home. Do need to rebuild the pump, but it is all there and in good shape otherwise.
I would like to do the rebuild myself if I can find the parts.

Anyone here rebuild their hyd. floor jack in their garage? Ive got a old walker 4 ton that wont pump up. Id like to rebuild it. Is it just O rings? and polishing the cylinders?
Parts list is available on-line, kit is expensive, piston has leather cup seal 2-1/4 in diam.
Pump leather is about 1 inch can`t recall. I just finished mine Model 884 4 ton. Kit was 50.00. Now its over 100.00. you need new check valve balls and a couple of springs . Don`t try it if you are impatient- send the cylinder to Tomahawk,Wisconsin and do the rest yourself. Let me know if you need more info. Be happy to help.

Re. Walker 4 ton model 884 Jack- Voris Hydraulics is the parts supplier. Google it and print out the list you need. The model 884 is an awesome jack but very heavy about 250 pounds . It extends 24 inches and pumps up in 5 strokes. The handle has 3 positions note the excess wear on the handle and handle segment for excessive wear- you may need to install bushings .

I think mine may be vintage as it is 47 years old now.It is a Milwaukee Hydraulics model 40 it will lift 24in with a 4in lowered height and 31in Chassis Length. The ram is 2.5 in diameter and a dual hydraulic pump. Maybe I will give it a coat of paint to make it pretty again.

Since this thread is about vintage floor jacks this would be the place to show how, say a vintage Walker Big Boy from the 1940's can go from...

FloorJack11sm.jpg

...as found in the old shop to...

IMG_5468.jpg

...this. The restored jack is on the left and the one in the rear is the same model, an all original Walker 4 ton manufactured in the late 1930's. That's the original Walker paint scheme from the 1940's but in this case is powder coated for durability. If you have an old floor jack I highly encourage you to restore it.

FloorJack9sm.jpg

From a hopeless mess...

IMG_5679.jpg

... to this when completed with care and attention to detail. For those not familiar with how that jack was restored, details with lot's of pictures can be found on the Restored 1930's Auto Shop thread in the Garage Gallery forum, starting on page 22, post # 421 and then continuing for several pages off and on, essentially finishing up on page 173, post # 3460.

Just picked up a Walker J-132, looks like I need the cover pannel.
General question, this is a 2 ton, is there anyway to upgrade this to the 4 ton model?

Ok I made a thread about this floor jack early then tonight saw this thread. Very cool floor jacks, trying to figure out what mine is. Its heavy, rolls smoothly, goes from about 6" to 24 1/2" tall, pumps up effortlessly and need to bring the handle all the way down to lower it. Bought it from a lady who she said her grand dad used it to lift his tractors on the farm for many years. Any insight would be great. Either way the jack works great and I expect to get a lot of use out of it over the years.

How about a vintage "air bumper jack".
This 1966 Gray jack was easy to restore since the company is still in business and
has the main components available.

Nice old jack... I believe your unit is a Hein-Werner model "H". These are rated as a 3 ton jack.
