Thanks. For that price, I expect that is the entire caster assembly. Hopefully I can get by on just a wheel.

On Tuesday, I went to the local recycling yard to drop off a few bags of aluminum cans. I always check out the scrap pile to see what's there to bring home. Seems like I always bring something back with me...

Anyway, I pull up and there's this nice vintage floor jack just sitting there, waiting for a new lease on life. It goes up and down, but leaks pretty bad when you let it down.

As found, sitting at the yard.

So, They usually want $0.50 per pound for 'scrap' steel... This thing just looks heavy and I'm not ballin' like that, so we put it on the scale... 192#! Yikes!
Too rich for my blood, but I talk them down to a much more reasonable amount. Of course I wasn't going to leave it there!

After a bit of research, it looks like I've got a Weaver 2 Ton (WA-72). Cool!
Get it home and out of the Jeep, clean it up a bit and snap a few pics.

It's got some cool retro looking casters on it.

So, I took some pictures of serial number on the pump and send it off to Castle Equipment (they still make Weaver pumps). Turns out, Serial 1Bl217 dates this jack to 1938!

Castle equipment just happens to have a 1938 Weaver ad on their site and the jack shown is the same jack I just picked up!

It'll be a while before I can get around to rebuilding it, but was glad to have been able to save it.

Congrats on the score! I just recently got my 4 ton Weaver, and have already gotten a lot of use out of it swapping the 1 ton axles from my old Rock/Expedition K5 under my new Expedition Suburban. Compared to what I had before (the big orange HF jacks) this thing is a pure joy to use. For reference, the load wheels and casters can be disassembled for servicing. Mine still had residue from the long gone grease, likely never serviced. Cleaned up and greased, it rolls and maneuvers smoothly and easily, particularly when you consider the weight. I also had to shim the caster swivels to provide preload to take up excessive slop (the reason one caster is damaged), though the bearings were still in very usable condition. I also love the handle lock feature that makes it easy to kick it up and move the load wheels over for easy positioning.

I still haven't found a replacement caster, and mine is missing the cover plate behind the lift arm pivot, but I couldn't be happier with it. Those old Weavers are sweet jacks.

Hmm, I just noticed the comment about "positive safety lock" in the posted sale flyer. I haven't yet noticed any feature that might bear that description. Anyone know what it's talking about?

Thanks guys! I was really excited to see it sitting there just waiting for me to bring home.

Could the 'positive safety lock' be the the small metal 'switch' that you have to flip up before you can let the jack down? That seems like the closest thing to a positive stop to me. :dunno:

I don't think I've got such a switch, at least that I've noticed. There is just the swing leaver that rotates a bar with eccentric to push out on the release valve actuator arm (for lack of a better term).

Picked up a s13 today. Little worried the ram on the handle side may be to far gone. Hopping I didn’t just buy scrap metal. The one on the underside looks good.

This isn’t real close, but should I pounce at $150? Seller said it works as it should

I picked both the Walker and the vise up for $70. The tag is missing off the jack so I haven't figured out what model it is but it is still working. I will rebuild the jack this summer as soon as I get the correct model rebuild kit.

Looking for some swivel wheels for this one. I am debating on a rebuild and wondering what it would cost me to get it back to working condition. It was given to me for helping out an estate sale.

I think the seal kit for that unit is pretty costly. Close to $200.
But if the piston on the ram isn’t pitted and is in good shape and all the other parts are there I’d rebuild it. If you don’t want to rebuild it likely someone would.

Well, I did get it free, so that probably isn’t too much. But a rebuild won’t do any good without a new swivel wheel.

I am trying to find a contributor who name is " Highball " as he is mentioned as a source for rebuild kits for Walker Hydraulic jacks.
Mine is a 770 A and I would love to have this beautiful piece of artwork functional once more.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

The Walker 770 seal kit has been discontinued for a very long time. You can remove the seals and try to source the seals individually.

FWIW-
I ran across this old Walker ad on Ebay, seller says from 1941?
It describes the Walker Greyhounds colors being "Dawn Grey" & "Cardinal Red" at some point in time.
Ebay link and Ad image below..

What is a fair price for a rebuilt walker if I find one locally? I look on and off and I am thinking about actually buying one when I find a fair deal this time around.

Thanks

Hello -- I am new to the site and found it looking for info on what looks like the same jack you have. I erroneously called it a "Dayton" but thats where it was made. After doing pencil trace of dataplate I see its a Joyce Liftmaster and it looks like yours. Your post was 4 years ago -- did you have any luck finding parts? Love to hear from you. Mine is missing release handle parts

Welcome to Garage Journal HutchNDY.
Sorry but the hard parts on these old floor jacks are getting very very hard to locate since many old jacks simply got scrapped over the years.
That said' you came to the right place here at GJ because if there is a chance to locate them it will most likely be here.
I don't have what your looking for but hopefully another member here will have it for you. If not located today hopefully very soon to get your jack back in action. Just keep asking around on here in different forums to keep the word out on anything you may need and hope for the best.
Fwiw Seals, wheels and springs are easier to locate as I'm sure you know but man those hard parts create a real treasure hunt and the more rare the jack the more we must hunt.
Glad to have you here as a new member.

I've been using this for over 40 years. It belonged to my dad and I honestly don't know where he got it, but I'm sure he didn't buy it new. It leaks a little, but still works great and is the only floor jack I've ever owned.

Ostensibly I'm using this post to bring this thread back to the top.

However, Brent; is that Honda CBX engine in your avatar? It'll never happen, but I'd love to have the chance to ride one of those someday.

Ok, now back to floor jacks.

Yes it's a 1979 with about 11k miles on it. My dad bought it in the mid 80' ago and gave it to me about 2005. I tore it apart, cleaned everything up and reassembled. It's a fun old bike. I have a couple pics in the "Motorcycle" thread I think.

Callbt, A couple weeks ago I would have jumped in my truck to come get that Walker without giving it a second thought. I have a soft spot for the old Walker jacks. If you still have it once the 'social distancing' is behind us, I would be very interested in the Walker.
