Haven't seen any on here so I though I'd show mine. This thing is about 50 pounds! Here it is after I cleaned it:

I just took it apart, parts cleaned it, and sand blasted it. Don't worry pics coming tommorrow. We are going to have to re-wire the whole thing, as I guess would be suspected.....

I have no idea whatsoever who made the grinder, somebody who restored it a long time ago ruined it. I guess the person who restored it tore of the sticker of the company. Thats one reason why I decided to post this rebuild on here.

Well here are the pics I promised of it apart, and sand-blasted:

I am hoping to get some aluminum bolts for this, so I can buff them all out. Check tommorrow for pics of it primered!

I too will keep eyeballs on this thread. I enjoy taking stuff apart and re-vamping them, the before and after makes me feel good like I can still be of use I guess.

Thanks, JASTECH

Here it is put together for final prime & paint! Before I put this thing together the rest of the way, I need to know does this thing takes grease or oil. I would guess oil but other people question me..

Any info on the manufacturer would be great!

I'm really excited to see this come together. It looks like a real solid grinder!

Since you already posting some pictures in the '50s garage thread of mine, I'm expecting 'after' photos as well!:D

I did a quick look through the grinder photo index over at OWWM and I didn't find your exact grinder, but I found one close:

While having some differences, take a look at the base - pretty much identical in shape. It also looks like it has the same locking collets that keep the bearings in. This is a 'Handy' model by Baldor.

Thanks, I couldn't tell if it was really old oil or old grease in there:thumbup:

James -

Did you press some new bearings on? That size shaft probably uses a 6203 bearing. I've always replaced with sealed 6203 bearings for the 6-7" grinders.

Thanks for the pics, I'll search the web a little. I sure would like to have a Baldor. It will be awhile before it's done because I am waiting for that Verde Green to come in (should be in by the 22nd).

No, I thought these bearings are okay the way they are. All I did was get out all the old grease in them with some carburetor cleaner. :)
