The two Pat Pend ratchets arrived today and will be added to some early sets. As a bonus this lightly marked postwar S-K spinner was included in an inexpensive partial Walden set that I bought because it included the crossbar. Thanks! That would be great. I grabbed a couple of the newer conventional Pat Pend ones off of eBay this morning. I was surprised to see them listed.

Is the color of hammered finish called “Deep Green”?I've used these two paints to "approximate" the green of later SK boxes. They are nice for restores but not exact matches.
Yeah the color is called deep green, I’ve checked every store near me and no one has it.![]()

I believe that they started using that logo on the aluminum tag in 1946 and it continued through the mid ‘50s. That box is appropriate for a couple of different 1/4” drive sets.I picked this up at a garage sale. It was green before being (I think) sandblasted.
The outside. Box is straight and the lid works well
I have quite a few “user” SK tools that I bought in the mid 70’s but I’ve never seen this logo on any of my tools or boxes IIRC.
I’m thinking it was for a 1/4” drive set.
Any guess how old? Just curious, I’m not a collector.

Wow! When I saw the box at the sale my first thought was that someone on here would know something about it.
I‘ve been taking advantage of some hot weather to refinish some 1/4” drive sets with wrinkle finish overcoated with my favorite Midwest Military green. These boxes badly needed repainting.

I did one more prewar small set yesterday afternoon. I almost waited too long since the hot day started to cool off.![]()
I don’t really like to do repaints but sometimes there isn’t any choice. I use VHT black wrinkle finish on hot days. After the wrinkle dries thoroughly, I do a light coat of this Midwest Military paint. What would be the proper finish for that type of box and what type of paint would you use?

Might could be. That's an old pic - used the can up a while ago.Is the color of hammered finish called “Deep Green”?
If so I just located one at an Ace hardware near me.
Thanks for the response
Cell bars are harder than they used to be…I suspect that could be a multi-generation supply of blades
